Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci

What would any of us know about being normal?

Such build up usually depends on the herb more than anything else. Usually not well enough cured? The extra water vapor (which of course also condenses) seems to gum things up quickly. In vapes like MFLB (where you can't clean under the screen) this can be critical.

How dry is your herb? As a test, clean it and run a gram or two of very well dried out stuff (grind it and put it in a warm spot for a while).

Good luck with it.

OF
The dryer the better? It's crumble in my fingers dry as it's time to get more soon. New stuff. Very potent.

Thanks for the help everyone. The thread definitely makes for a great read!

The one I have here in China is doing it. I am sitting with our electrical engineer showing him and discussing a bug fix as I type. News soon :)
Also talked with the US team and the spacers were freight shipped on a boat instead of air shipped so it will be another 2-3 weeks before they reach the US. As soon as I have another update on those I will be sure to let you guys know.

The oil jars are meant for oils and work really well with our EEB's as some members will testify. We would have to implement drastic changes to see a unit capable of holding 500+ degrees for a long period of time. We are working on some new things so please be patient, it is not as simple as a software adjustment as suggested.
What are EEBs?

I have no idea what EEBs are? Very few folks have had luck with the oil jars on this Forum. We have mainly been sandwiching wax between herb around here or using cotton.

I am looking forward to an official spacer to come out. We've been anticipating this for a long time.

Mine doesn't click but I don't like opening it all the way. Feels tight from closed to 1/2 then lose from 1/2 to fully open and I had to replace the last one because the hinge became disconnected from the bottom piece somehow.

I used three flowers tonight. One with the stem up in the bottom of the oven then two stem down on top tack style. Really seems to help keep the "puck" in place and packed tightly throughout my session. Seemed to keep things a little more tidy resin wise as well.

I just set it at 405 tonight and sipped on it till it shut off at 10 minutes. Great vapor clouds in the light of the tv.....ripped!....I mean very satisfied with the level of medicating I received from my lovely Ascent tonight lol

I'm guessing EEB's are the aromatherapy oils? http://www.davincivaporizer.com/aromatherapy-essential-vaporizer-oils/ - sure those vape at lower temperatures than what we need for concentrates.... So I bet that's why they work

No you're not crazy, this is intentional It clicks into the center position, when you move/rotate the oven open, it will "click" out of place - this helps keep the unit "square" when closed.

I absolutely love my ascent even though I can't use the glass vials.

I just wished they created an alternative accessory for concentrates, not the glass vials. It does not seem high on their priority list...I bet they will get a lot more buyers if they did (maybe they are making lots of profit without fixing this issue)

The 'Haze' is prolly most designed for individual ,separated oil/ flower vapor ~ 'Cons' relate to

the different temps ( hi/ lo ) neeeded for proper vaporization ,making it a nuisance/ challenge

every time ( considering recovery times to approach oil hi temp @ 500 ) ~

Personally ,prefer to blend both together making suitable music together ( Ascent ) :-) ~ 'Cons'

relate to increased consumption of oil ( compared @ Haze ) :-(

thanks for the response, I swear I didn't hear a click before and all of a sudden it clicks whenever I move or rotate the oven open. I thought I broke part of the hinge and was afraid it'd give up in a few months..

so it's normal to hear an audible click sound when rotating the oven chamber.

The issue is the temperature, not the accessory trust me. If it were as simple as making different glass jars we would have done that.

You say that like you think the temperature range used is a mistake (or an oversight)????

OF
I say it because they are not apologetic about this issue and not making it right for those who bought it for dual use.

Blowing off some steam. Long day.

I see noting to apologize for I guess. I think it's a vape optimized for herb, at which it does a bang up job. It's not very good with concentrates as most find, but it's not a total bust. That is I think 'dual use' wasn't part of the deal, I'm sorry if you bought it with the mistaken idea it was ideal (or nearly so) for both.

I'm not sure such a vape exists even. Luckily there are lots of good, fairly low cost, options for oils......but none of them do bud well......

Good luck in your quest, you might consider Vapor Brothers and Up Tech (Delta 9?) offerings?

Yea, I have some dedicated to oil. I guess it was my naïveté, since I was only 6 months into vaping. But when they make a claim, they should back it up and not give a response like they did above (talking to me like I'm some idiot). I guess tone and attitude are hard to address through a computer.

However, I found an excellent device that does both, the haze. I won't be a hater and bash on ascent because it is a great "flower" only vape. Yea, I know I can sandwich concentrates between herbs. I didn't like how the ascent representative on this forum answered my question and issue (maybe I didn't get the tone right, but the rep has no customer service skills). My clients in my book of business want me to be respectful and be honest in my claims. If I fall short of expectations, I apologize and try to make it right. But the key point is take responsibility for your promises, and if you are not able to deliver, make it right. Give customers some discounts for accessories, create a new design that can do both, anything.

And I always stuck up for the ascent when ppl bashed it.

It's important to remember that most all LEGALLY obtainable oils (such as the essential earth blends) vape at a lower temperature than concentrates used by members of this forum. It's perfectly reasonable to advertise the oil jar feature for their intended LEGAL purpose. If you've never tried it, I suggest you try some ejuice. I believe @nigel has a spare ascent dedicated to EEBs. - those jars do work nicely for that intended purpose

They clearly state the max temperature of the vaporizer is 430F. Obviously this is the upper limits the device was designed to handle. It would require a redesign of the vaporizer to reach higher temperatures safely without damaging the batteries due to excessive heat.

(I do know one manufacturer specifically designed their vaporizer to run several degrees hotter than advertised for max temperature to ensure the vape will still reach the advertised temps after 1 year of wear-and-tear on the battery)

I had a rough night. My meeting with clients ran til 10pm (start days at 5 am) and read that response, I probably took it the wrong way. No more negativity and focus on what the ascent excels at. I guess I will find an alternative use with the extra glass vials I bought.

We are working on some new things that will be useful for higher temperature vaping, but in the meantime a software patch allowing the Ascent to go up to 500 degrees would take so much more than just programming the PCB that way. They are oil jars, people the use them with oils such as our Essential Earth Blends love it. Trust me, we have acknowledged it and we are working on it but I don't think the fix will come with this Ascent. Even having tested the PNP at the 475, that is not hot enough. We are experimenting and designing daily. 2015 is going to be a great year for us and we are always listening and improving.

I'm sorry that you misheard the tone here, I was just trying to explain we understand it is an issue and if there was a quick fix such as different glass or changing the temperature range, we would have done it. The engineering necessary to add another 100 degrees of tolerance is a lot of work especially in such a small place. We hear you and we are working on it! Thank you for supporting the Ascent.

Yea, all you Davinci people knew I'd be back one day.

Yup I was banned on this site before New Years, hope you all had a good New Years celebration.:worms:

a*hole  OF, and :nope: Mo, especially you two, I don't like you guys either.

MrNatural :brow: Silvercloud :science: CarolKing :goon: Cornwalls, Ratchett, MixChu69, KeroZen-coolest name I've seen on site, :shrug:Nice to see you all :mental:

So you knew :leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:4:20 :leaf::leaf:, this day would come and I would get to chill and get a chance to give you all the low down on this device again.

FYI you have to use Imgr to post pictures on this site.

So you all see that safety pin. Well, as you may all be wondering, you notice the sticky THC resonating and clogging those tiny holes. Problem solved. Perfect fit. You won't have some weird glass stem melting problem.

Oh yeah, air it out after every use if you can. You see how I separated everything, if you can and have the freedom to let it sit out for at least 30 minutes, I recommend you to. It will help keep the condition of your device. 420 all

Take care of your Ascent. $250 ain't cheap.

To all you people who are posting those really nasty pictures of those dirty glass stems with what looks like burnt resonated oil probably mixed with herb, buy a new one. Skip McDonalds for one week and buy a new one. You cannot be okay using a badly resonated stem like that. I guarantee you it's bad like combustion. Be smart! Don't be lazy, you still need to take care your device. It's still your life!

DaVinci Ascent #1 A++
