Custom Glass Ideas/Designs Thread

The original did look maybe a bit close (I can def see how there might be issues with the cloud though).
I'd say your modified joint placement pic would be good too, but I wouldn't want to see it go out any further than that.

:2c:
Yeah I wouldn't take the joint out any further than that either. But I do like how it is a little further out in the new pic.

Maybe make the base a little wider in diameter for some added stability? We definitely wouldn't want it to be joint side heavy when a vape is attached.

Ok awesome, so people are on board with a slightly larger/more spaced joint (up to the size in the pic, not more). 3cm's also gives most people the ability to get a finger in between the can and the joint while shaking for cleaning, so you don't have to hold it from an awkward angle.

I was just about to mention a slightly wider base for the same reason as well as the fact that this piece has a lot of glass in it, and some a good portion is in the middle of the piece, so the center of gravity is a little high atm. Another reason I liked this neck.

For the spacing, would moving the joint up help? Ideally you could raise it like 4 inches just so that the lower connection hits the top of the center chamber instead of the middle. This would make it less Mobius bubbler-like and actually add convenience (for vapes, nails and, God forbid, someone taking a lighter to it). Would take advantage of that chamber design and look a bit more original?

Edit: but this would raise the center of gravity more! :D

Yeah that's where the joint is welded on the authentic curve neck pillar.

I'm down with raising the joint a little if it seems like a good idea to the rest of you?

I'm staring at that center section... The bubble welded to the top of the section with the pillar tubes that connect to the section below... A hole in the top gives us that splash line that turns the jet fountain into a bubble bath.

Imagine if you copy and paste that whole center section. Replacing the top section. Really. Two identical sections, and then the matrix bottom. Remove the joint off the side. Replace the hole in the top with a dewar joint. Seeing it?

Of course that complicates it beyond belief, but I only need one ;)

The original is like that, but the original likely wasn't designed with vaporizer-only users in mind. What do you guys think about having the center of gravity so high with a vape and probably a wire attached on the same side. It might be a little easy to knock over, especially with the room allowed for bigger vapes like a cloud, which offsets the weight even more to one side?
Also, keep in mind that the little glass reinforcement connecting to the thick part of the can instead of the thinner part of the wall, may be a bit stronger, and wont require that part of the top section to be distorted.

Final design?

I dont understand what youre saying at all with the copy/paste bit...

You mean pillars to... more pillars?
I don't see why you'd do that...

It doesn't really make sense to me...
Either you'd just have longer pillars, or you'd want some kind of double chamber rig with another perc to bubble up the 2nd pillars...

Also, Dewaar isn't really an option for pillars, there's just not the room to jam a downstem down through the middle of it all...

Yes, more pillars - basically they create a way to pass between two adjacent chambers, getting the input from a recessed top into the bottom perc..

I think it would work, but I don't think it'd be realistic at that point to build (or at least go from a pillar design to a single tube for the top section). Basically it's doing backflips to get a recessed in-line joint in the top -- not gonna happen ;)

Just wanted to let all of you guys know that yingmin5 has notified me that he will be releasing a small batch off gb-187 sidecars in the coming week.

Hahahahaha - boy did he miss out on a huge opportunity! Go figure he tries to copy a highly desired design only AFTER someone else made it first

Though I'll probably buy a sidecar GB-187 when it's released - PLEASE keep us posted when it's available!

If we keep working on designs here, I can ask yingmin5 to get them made. I'd prefer to not just relay

Will do. He'll probably sell out regardless. He has a big customer base. I am in good communication with him, and may be able to get some other pieces made from him as well. I'll keep everyone updated in this thread.

Well, it's not like we didn't ask him to make this a looooong time ago. These could have all been his sales. Maybe he didn't believe we were serious. He should get this now... :(

Is there any reason to believe he is as close to the production as Steven is? That may have been the problem...

I'm not sure where yingmin is in the chain of production, but he said that he is going to be releasing next week:
Gb-187's some with Mobius logo, some without.
Sidecar Gb-187's (60pcs.)

The bigger problem I have with my FC-187 (other than the high perc) is a shortage of airflow. I was blaming the size of the opening where the MP and main body come together, but the more I look at it the more I doubt it. I can get some reasonable stacking doing a water test with nothing in the joint, but when I drop the Lotus in I get hardly anything. I think it is just a bad perc... :(

So newglassbong has pulled their store once again . Got a message with their email saying to contact them there, I will try to get some info.
Do you have the link to the new store?
And are the going to go ahead with your request to bend the necks on those nice pieces with the sphere above the perc?

If you have good airflow with the joint clear, wouldn't that suggest the restriction is in the Lotus? Considering you only notice the restriction/shortage once you add the Lotus. If the airflow is fine normally, then I wouldn't say that's a bad perc.

I should have been more clear, sorry. Of course the Lotus DOES cause restriction as one would expect, but not to the degree that it does. I mentioned the Lotus because that is what I use most of the time, but I get the restriction no matter what I drop in the joint, and dropping the Lotus WPA into my D022 still allows the expected stacking. So, no, the Lotus doesn't SEEM to be the problem, and the hole where the MP is connected to the can on the 187 is similar in size the welds in the D022.

Edit: Just to be sure I just dropped 90° hose adapter with bare hose into the joint and I hardly get any stacking at all. I'm not sure what else it could be but a bad perc.

Ugh, why does he insist on the Mobuis logo? Maybe it's beyond his control.

I hated my GB-187 rasta logo, so glad it is gone.
Not sure, but at least it's the "correct" company logo, and not a randomly colored RooR logo.
He might have a customer that buys them in bulk with the logos.

To clear up any confusion, there are two pillar pieces coming out.

The Mini Pillar (4 pillars) which does NOT have a peyote perc. It has a simpler perc with only big slits, vs over 100 holes.

and

The (Full Sized/Large w/8 pillars) Matrix Pillar.

The first batch of mini pillars apparently doesn't have the splash chamber like the Matrix Pillar unless something changed. Further batches may or may not. I'm not sure. Steven produced a prototype with it tho:

Looks like they added the the chamber to the top of the mini also?

Have they finalized the design?

So pumped for this piece, can't wait.

Any ideas for the next piece? I'd love to see a Mobuis Clear size bubbler, I have enough small pieces, :D

Read the paragraph that @EverythingsHazy wrote that is right above the video :D should answer your question about the mini.

Im actually kinda happy the first version of the mini doesn't have the added chamber like the large one does. That way the function will seem different. The mini will shoot water out of the tubes fairly high but the large will keep the bubbles at bay with the added chamber :)

And I think we have some Mothership knock offs up next. Incylcer, kleins, etc... Fuck yeah! Always wanted a MS but never wanted to drop a grand on a single piece. These are gonna be sweet :tup:
