Nice post and video! The problem I have with your technique is the amount of material that can be sandwiched between the two screens is minimal. I like to load about .25g and it usually fills about 60% of the bowl. That will allow me to have about a 10 hit session before full extraction. With your method it looks like you couldn't load more than about .10g max while having both screens inserted in the same bottom screen groove. Looks like a winner for smaller loads though.

@Chill Dude, thanks for the response.

As I mentioned in my post you can load a decent amount, but if you had to, you could load up multiple bowls as well. I packed a really nice bowl last night and got 10 monster clouds off of it. I came back today to finish it off with another bunch of hits. Sadly in my video I did use a tiny amount ( I wanted to show off that a small bowl can produce monster rips, but maybe I should have showed a FULL bowl as well).....

The bowl I packed a few minutes ago was filled up very high, but since you squish is down it compresses A LOT.

I just weighed it at 18.25 (with bottom bowl). The bottom bowl for me was weighed in at 17.95, plus I weighed an extra screen which came out to 0.9 so I am going to give it a solid 1.0 just incase my scale was off (since it was basically dying). This means I have about a 0.2 packed right now, not bad :). This means I'm sure I could pack in at least 0.25-0.3 These figures might be off since my scale was basically dead when weighing, but doubt that the results would be affected that much. I will retest later, but 0.2 is pretty decent, I am surprised at that amount as well, so that is why I am personally wanting to retest/questioning the results. I was going to post this while in the middle of my bowl, but I will post my stats here instead.

11 huge, tasty hits off of this bowl (without removing the bowl/stirring).

Note I removed the bowl and went to feed/take my dogs out. I am very very high, and will make a mention in my next post how many more hits I get. So far 11, but we shall see :).

So my suggestion to you is try packing a bowl, and see if it will pack down into the groove. Sometimes it takes a bit to get the hang of it, but you should notice the screen sitting in the groove. Sometimes little parts are sticking up, and you have to put it down, which might pop another side up... The bottom screen can move out a little bit, so you do give yourself extra room if you can manage your bottom screen correctly (I've never had it happen on the unit, but the bottom part could fall out[doubtful since I've had the screen hangingout before]).

Whether you pack a small, or a big load, you're going to feel great, and get big rips. Plus, even if you had to pack, lets say 3 bowls, the time it took to pack those 3 bowls is less than the time it would take you to pack your 1 big bowl, and clean it every time. Also, as I mentioned before if you want a bigger bowl you can super pack the bottom screen to it's max, and then pack more bud ontop of it, then put another screen where the top screen should be. Now you baically have your regular bowl which you can pack as much as you would normally, as well as your super packed bowl on the bottom :p. It's like riding a car with NOS BOOOOST :).

--------------------------------------------------------------------

@Highland7, it is interesting that you are using the Volcano bags/unit.

The reason why it's filling up thicker/faster is a couple of reasons.

1. It apparently fits more bud which will allow it to createthicker clouds.

2. It has a plunger to keep the bud packed tight in place (my method does the same).

3. The herbie allows bud to fly all over with the regular method, thus getting shit caught and making the fan take FOREVER to work.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

@John Lewus

They say a herbie bag takes 30-90 seconds to fill, but that depends on if anything is clogging the top screen(using the regular method).

Teh taste is amazing, but I cannot comment on the Volcano... MY extreme didn't taste like this though (V3).

The cano is just a giant air pump, so it's hard to beat it when it comes to that since it's all it does, period.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

@mmafighterthe25

Thats what I use. I stick a little piece of the white silicone tubing into the clear SSV tubing and connect that to the herbie bowl so it uses the normal connection and not just fitting over the top of thebowl. I found gettting the tubing off the bowl was hard, and it woul cause me to stretch the tubing, thus making it bend easier (NO BUENO).

--------------------------------------------------------------------

@mixchu69, with my method TBH oil is much better in the herbie than anything else.

Why it's better than an enail is simple.

1. You get to dial in the same temps with bud(which is proper vaping temps) i.e., I was getting dabs at 380*F.

2. Many many many hits. You throw in a bit of oil, and it will vape for awhile. It's not like a dab where you drop and go, you put some in, it soaks in and you get lots of nice, tasty rips.

I have never used an enail, but my buddies tried doing a 450*F dab off of an enail and they said it was awful (no taste, but got high, didn't feel a hit though).

Why use 700*+ when you could use exact temps at 400 or so? Not only are you not wasting product (i.e., burning oil like if you were to smoke bud at those higher temps), lower temps are smoother, and the taste is EXACT to bud.

I have Blue Dream oil and Blue Dream bud and they both taste the same. I have never experienced this with a torch and a nail, but again I have never used an enail to compare this flavor; however again I cannot see how 700* is going to be good for your material, especially conduction.

Enails are better if you want an instant hit, but I don't know how many people prefer one to the other. IDk how long enails take to heat up either, but you get instant rips with the herbie, just pack, turn on, and go. Problem is you have to take more hits, which isn't a bad thing... right? :)

The Herbie is an amazing device when used properly. TBH I am interested in the volcano solid valve to see how to get the most out of bags. I am confused on these valves though. Originally I thought volcano bags had a side valve (maybe that's the ez valve?) that you would push to inahle from. This one seems you just push against it, and there is vapor!

It's definitely a cool tool if you have friends over and want to blow bags (seems to hold more, bud well too).

Plus I'm trying to see if I could mod the bag system to allow for whips/glass (that would be awesome); however 120$ is a lot, but maybe I don't need everything? It seemed that you could use the herbie bowl with the solid valve filling part, but it seems the way to go is to get a full valve set?

Thanks all!

Well this technique is good for you but seems much hassle too!

I found that a mini-ELB solution with herbie solve few pbs with micro/small loads. OG screens are left.

The lack of seal on the herbie bowls are worrying me a bit, have to test mine.

Have to try volcano solid valve with herbie too!

Definitely an interesting method, but it seems like too much work for me. I load between .20 and .25g and get 15-20 huge rips off each bowl. I never take my bowl apart during a session. I pull it off the Herbie, tap it on my desk a few times and put it back on. If I do this every 2-3 hits, I don't have any issues.

I will certainly give your method a try, though. I just need to get a few new screens first.

Sometimes I still get small leaks coming from the the area where the circular plastic clip sits on top of the o-ring

Any tips of constructing balloons?

Thinking of using a plastic zip tie instead of the o-ring

I like your explanation and understand fully. I like hitting my omicron lite with less power so I get smooth flavorful hits. I get 4-5 hits off a single dab amount. Other times when I want to get fully medicated, dabs from Dnail or torch with Quartz banger hit me the best.

I will have to try this new screen mod after work. Seems like it would work well with efficient loads, something I always think of.

I have tried it and it worked great. I didn't have to pop both screens out when changing meds though. I have a screen a little larger that the Herbie bowl and they will bend on the edges creating enough friction to hold it in place. This way you don't have to mash it all the way into the groove to get it to stay. I'll try to post a pic later. I removed the top screen as well. I've done a couple bowls like this with no problems so far.

Dont forget Conical Gauze can be used to contain your load and prevent ANY buildup on the top screen.

I showed how it can be used "right-side-up" to help with hashish

And how it can be contained with a screen:

Even the Q basket will fit ...
DSC02993.jpg

But cant efficiently be inverted as I am about to show....

I will fill the herbie bowl:
DSC03459.jpg

DSC03460.jpg

THEN.....
...I will cover the load with the inverted Conical Gauze:
DSC03461.jpg

There will be room enough to close the chamber easily.

This accomplishes what @rogerrabbit describes as far as cleanliness at top screen... without the task of squeezing both screens in that tight space.

Yes @Vitolo you inspired the min-ELB=EQ screen+crushed Elb cap i speak of.

An aroma pad can also block in position a EQ screen also. But all this method put stress on the screwing closing system of the bowl. Lifespan of this part is the question for the global seal of the bowl. threaten by the repetitive stress of closing and pushing.

:2c:

Now i plan hooking solid valve bowl to a whip...

Now that looks much easier, and would allow for nice sized bowls. I will have to pick up some conical gauze and try this out.

Btw Vitolo, which size of conical gauze did you use? I found some here but they offer them in both 15mm and 20mm. Just want to make sure I get the right ones!

I swear the Taste is way better with solid valve, and I can take bigger hits using the solid valve.

Haven't used a SqueezeValve in days. Solid valve with Herbalizer bowl exclusively for bags.

@Vapodudule Hassle? It's hassle free. It takes 2 seconds with a tiny bowl to get it on, with a bigger pack takes a little more. In the video I packed more than I probably needed, just to show it off.

Javen;t tried the mini elb solution, but glad you're enjoying it.

Mine has a seal, you just need to make sure it's funny tightened.

I can understand it might be annoying to put both screens on and make sure they are on, but the fact you can just do an entire bowl without stirring (until the end) is so worth it!

2. you said to Vitolo that it will put stress on the the screw system of the bowl? Are you saying because those baskets are too close to the top and get too stuck? The bowls lifespan is important, but we can buy new ones as well. My method shouldn't hurt the screwing at all.

Good luck with your whip to solid valve connection. I was thinking of attempting one myself :).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Tex as said above I don't think it's that much work at all, it takes relatively no time compared to cleaning your screens all the time. You say you load 0.2-0.25 (which another member said they do as well) I loaded at 0.2 last night and got a lot of clouds, 11+ huge rips before taking it off of the bowl, and then a few more rips after I came back to it. I don't have to take my bowl apart at all, until the end when i clean it. When I was using the herbie originally I was cleaning it every hit or so because of the buildup in the top screen.

You seemed to have gotten the regular method to work, and I noticed your hit size in one of you pieces before looking much better than what I had originally.... But would be nice to see it all milked :D.

I don't know when the screens die, but mine are getting frillies on the ends which are sharp. As long as it fits, it's good!

2. The gauze does look easier, but I'm curious about the system as a whole. It seems it could pack more in, but my method still allows for a lot of packing at least 0.2, but then again I don't know the tolerances of those in this group. Report your findings on the gauze please!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@mixchu69 Thank you for that. My omicron always was a decent hitter, the persei was great though. You will get much bigger clouds with the herbie, and it all depends on how much you load. The more you load, the bigger the rip, but you will get tons of rips from it. I find it's easiest to just pack some bud, pack some oil on top, and GOGOGO!!! No more fucking aromapads causing all sorts of issues that aren't needed, plus you never know if you fully vaped your oil or not! In the bud at least you can reuse it(if you save your ABV like I do).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Mrmrmrmr Glad you're interested, if you have any questions let me know. The method is just overall better IMO. Like I said before I really was underwhelmed by my unit, A LOT. I was debating selling it and all sorts of shit. It's all changed now, just by packing my bowl different. The hits are amazing (couldn't get good hits from glass), the flavor is great, and no need to clean or stir every few hits! I took those 11 hits in a row as mentioned in my other post, before turning the vape off.

It might be better with smaller more "efficient" loads as the top screen is easier to get in, and you can get a few nice, thick rips!

For me efficiency, taste, and vapor production are what I am looking for! (Plus fast heat up time)!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Madcap79 GREAT! I'm glad you like it! 1 person converted :D.

I only have to pop out one screen to change my meds, but in the video I mentioned that THE BOTTOM SCREEN CAN POP OUT so be careful. I notice in the method the screens bend, so people should be careful when dealing with bowls, and should bend the screens back/flip them over, over time.

Originally that's how I did it with the original screen. Bent it enough to stay there, but then I found I had some blow backs. I tried a larger screen but couldn't get it in, and was only scratching everything. If your screen can stay still then you have a good method, but it's hard to keep it from popping... So good luck! If your method continues you work well you should help us locate some new screens so others can try it out as well!? I'm assuming you could pack more bud with your screen?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Vitolo.... interesting, how are the hits? The cap seems like it has a less fine screen which materials might fall through? Seems nice that the cap will stay on with a large packing, does the screen flip at all or is it stationary? To me what makes my method great is that the bud is packed down nice to produce thick clouds, but I'm curious if it can be achieved with a looser packing.

TBH the bag filling is very slow with my method due to the fan having to blow over a lot of packed material. I would like to see the solid valve chamber and compare it, as it seems to be better for blowing bnags, and maybe in general.

Maybe I will try your basket method, but seems risky unless it can be closed fully and kept in place?

As for the top screen and gunk, I noticed that even without any particles getting in the top screen stem-hash and resin would. This was a porlbme since I was torching my screen all the time, so getting rid of the top screen and allowing for all the stem hash to collect is better IMO.

I'm not sure if your method allows for the top screen to poof?

Report your findings on how it works though! I'm very interested.

Basically, if Herbie designed a bowl with multiple grooves like the bottom one, that we could fit screens into and pop down to whatever bowl size we want would be a key feature for the next bowls (besides magntic top).

Materials do not fall through, they seem to gather and stay well in place, with firm or loose pack.
It stays stationary.. the brass ring sits against the funnel wall of the bowl, and herbies top screen is a "c--nt hair from it, any movement is impeded by that.

I am really interested in this. Did you order the entire solid valve kit or is it better to order the parts separately and exactly what do I need? For example I saw a filling chamber insert which is part of the kit but I don't know if I need or not.

I am excited about this mod that might just make the herbalizer the best of... everything :)

It is but the heat source affects taste to me. The Evo/Cloud and Herbalizer have been amazing for me in this regard but the EQ has a worse heat. Either way I think $119 investment or maybe less is all I need to get the best parts of the Volcano with the precision control of the Herbalizer. A more powerful fan and quieter (hard to do I know) for V2 of Herbalizer is what I would recommend.

@rogerrabbit about your clever double screen method for pressed micro loads
ok for the no relation to the screw.
Do you stir many times?
Don't you need to repart load very well to control airflow?

however i prefer mini Elb (no relation to screw either) for micro loads, it puts stirring out of the unit.
just another path.:2c:

so .. My bags kept leaking... And with the solid valve, it's hard to bunch all the material up evenly around the valve, and have the o-ring perfect... Then there is the plastic ring, which I don't feel helps much.

So I used a zip tie ... So far when you use this method with the herbalizer filling chamber... Absolutely no leaks! Just secure the zip tie TIGHTLY around the o-ring.

When using the volcano filling chamber, there is very minimal leaks (out of the slits maybe).

Either way.. Bags are nice and tight like this

Thanks. Let me know what is in the kit that you don't think is needed. If I recall correctly you have a Cloud and Hydratube. What would it take to pair the balloon with a hydratube? I've been doing that lately with the Herbalizer bags using an 18mm glass whip adapter and have grown really fond of the experience. I LOVE it actually :) This is the whole reason why I am even considering a better bag delivery system.
