I'm coming out with a simple vacuum oven, looking for input.

Hello everyone. So I'm working on a vacuum oven with a focus on simplicity. Here's a shot of the current design. I got more shots on my site, http://highsimple.com/.

Here are some points that I want it to have,

  • Dial temperature controls
  • Vacuum gauge
  • Hookups to a vacuum pump with a ball valve
  • Pyrex for the main dish so I can blast into it and then use the same dish for heated vacuum purging
  • Reasonably priced, shooting for around $500
  • All in one device
  • Reasonably sized

I'm looking for feedback to optimize the design before I go into manufacturing. I made a feedback form that you can fill out if you have some spare time, http://highsimple.com/feedback/, or just leave some comments/questions here.

I want to make sure I'm making something the community wants.

Thanks,
Motifaded

The only thing that stands out to me would be make sure the tray has vertical sides and a completely flat bottom. Having a conical bowl really just makes it more difficult to scrape and decreases surface area.

That will probably be near to impossible with glass...it needs to be shaped like that to cope with the pressure...(please correct me if I am wrong...

Yes, please do not forget the rest of the world lol....I myself am in Europe too, so 110V only device would not serve us that good hihi. I have no idea about electronics so also have no idea how easy or difficult this would be to implement...

Technically it's not all in one if an additional pump is necessary.

What's the heat source? If it's not something like induction than definitely rethink your design. While the dial is nice the comfort of stable temperatures is ideal.

Tell me about your thermostat? How many places are you taking the temp from. My oven does it at 3 points. It's fucking mind boggling how much easier that makes an oil makers life.

I'd also like to see what the vac connection is going to look like as well as its placement.

Looks cool as fuck though.
