I've been getting really nice results with my herc using some good shatter. Unfortunately I might have to get some wax next, which I had bad results with previously. Should I then convert it somehow to shatter? Or just use it in the various kiss carts?

IME w my herc, the beast has handled everything i have thrown at it. How so did it not work? leaks?
if it leaked maybe try loading less?

Theres a you tube vid to convert wax to shatter with a heat gun... kinda works, at least to condense the wax to a more readily vapable viscosity.

For smoothness reasons, I would suggest you winterize your wax. Im slow to understand, so I need more testing to be sure. But I loaded qwet yesterday after about 10 days of winterized qwet only. My 1st assertion is reg qwet is harsher. From what I understand, the purer your concentrate, the less maintenance your herc will need.

The Nibbler XL has a honeycomb diffuser below the mouthpiece, dunno if I'd call it a true splash guard. I've certainly never had issues inhaling water. I use it on my Hercs about 99% of the time. My weak throat drastically prefers moisture conditioned vapor and being able to judge the thickness of vapor and the strength of their inhale is incredibly helpful when guiding friends or newbies to use the herc.

*Edit: So I just cleaned my Nibbler XL and took a picture through the bottom so you can see the honeycomb diffuser. There's still a bit of water clinging to the honeycomb in the pic.

The okeanos is designed for kiss carts tho while the nibbler xl is for the hercules.

the nibbler doesn't have a splash guard but many have said if you fill it to the proper level you will not get any water in your mouth

I'm only speaking from past posts as I haven't had the balls to order one for fear of my wife killing me for spending so much

Edit:haha @SamuraiSam beat me to it he's an expert take what he says as a reliable source of info I always enjoy his posts

All the talk about ceramic donuts I've been wondering how would they work as a coil in the herc instead of the titanium?

Edit: meaning if they were made the proper size I'm assuming the 1701s current size wouldn't fit

Yes, the latest Okeanos model has a splash guard built in.

Did I misread your post @mixchu69 ? For some reason, I could have sworn you asked about the Okeanos but now when I look back, it says Nibbler XL. Did you edit your post or did I just take one too many dabs earlier? I have a feeling it's the latter. lol :science:

Talking about the Okeanos. It's a good solid unit. Just sucks opening the Okeanos to reload the kiss cart after a while. I seem to get harsh hits if it's low on oil. The Triton will hopefully take the Okeanos to the next level. Still crossing my fingers! No wire technology cart with a decent oil capacity would make the Okeanos a vapor machine. I imagine something like the herc+nibbler combo but at a smaller scale.

A ceramic "coil" for the hercules could theoretically be possible. Perhaps using the very pourous black ceramic from those KISS carts, and then a fat donut shape with a honeycomb structure to it.... sounds freakin amazing, and expensive!

thats pretty much exactly what i was picturing i think it sounds awesome the only thing im not sure of is heat transfer from the ceramic rod to the donut

well that's a good question, it works WONDERS for the kiss carts that's for sure. I would imagine it would just be a matter of riding the button in a proper method of pulsing to achieve the proper temperature. To me the advantage sounds like it would be in cleaning, you could torch that sucker clear no problem. If the honeycomb structure were able to be achieved in a small enough degree than I think it would perform equally or better to the TI coils

It works well in kiss carts because they have the heating element wrapped around the whole wick forcing the ceramic to heat quickly in the herc there would be limited contact with the rod and I'm not sure the surface area would be big enought to efficiently transfer heat but I'd Damn sure like to try the experiment

Hmm. Sounds similar to the way the very first Hercules was used. Instead of a stainless steel/titanium coil, the Hercules used to come with three, small empty tanks. The tanks were made of stainless steel and utilized a piece of porous ceramic (not as porous at the black ceramic though) at the bottom. Drilled into the bottom of each tank was a hole that allowed it to sit snug around the heating rod. I know I have a few here. Let me try and find them quick so I can throw up a pic or two up for you guys. The consensus was that the coils hit better than the tanks, but I always thought the tanks were a great idea.

A look at the tank on its side

@kindbeats thankyou for posting those pics I'm a tinkerer/amature inventor myself so it's facinating seeing the trial and error Gary has gone through to bring us such an amazing product

I wonder tho if the performance would be better if the ceramic rod came right through the disk similar to the current herc coils

74x not getting hot, did rod burn out? I get very faint vapor, almost non-existence. I have outer black jacket off and I can feel the chamber getting hot but when I open the top cap my bho is slowly melting away, but no vapor

Try fresh charged batteries. They may have enough juice to heat
the oil but not quite enough to produce vapor. You might also check to see if your coil has moved up the chamber. One other thing to check. Is there enough oil inside?:freak:
