Cracked Glass

I just noticed a crack on the inside of my old bubbler. I've never dropped it, so I don't know how this could have happened. Maybe it's just because it's a cheaper bubbler?

Anyway, I'm curious. How long will I be able to use this bubbler this way? Is it dangerous? How long would you use a piece like this? I wonder if me using really hot water to rinse it when cleaning made it worse. :(

When you clean it using hot water, do you ever wet it, or fill it afterwards, with room temp/cold water before the glass cools down? That could potentially cause it to crack.

rapid temperature change from using really hot water to rinse followed by cold water could cause that.... or rather accelerate a small imperfections growth into a hairline like that.

how long can you use it like this? until it actually breaks. hairline cracks like that dont really shard. so if it was inexpensive I would recommend using it until you cant stand looking at it anymore... and shop around for the next nice piece you wanna get.

but no point in shelving it now... us it till its season is through.

I think that's what caused it, a very hot water rinse, followed up by filling it up with room temp bottled water. I'll know better than to do that again. I have two PWT's, are thick glass, and have never done anything like this.

I already have another one just like it. Brand new, and never used, but it is supposed to be my back up.
