And the front of the line has been waiting over a year.
I would ask them about that. I know for a fact I signed a friend up for the wait list about 2 months ago, he has already gotten an email about purchasing one on pre-order. It has actually been about 2 weeks since he got the email for pre-order.

Sounds like either something went wrong in your case, or they aren't actually going in order as they said.

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right
Best to just take it as it comes.
I joined the wait list something like six months ago but only got my email invite this evening.

Okay so I have actually read the last few pages to see if this has been addressed, and I'm sure it has, but how much better would the performance of the titanium version, or the anodized version be over the standard stainless configuration?

"The unique thermal properties of titanium allow for even greater performance in a package that’s identical in size, but more durable and almost 30% lighter."

But what would this performance be? Vapor production? Battery life?

I'm just trying to decide if the extra 'boost' is worth the extra $45-$50?

I sent an email to Trevor a few days ago with some questions I had. This was the exchange.

Hey Trevor,
Hope the New Year is going well for you guys. I was just wondering if we can expect the ship dates from the preorders to be accurate? Mine says March and can I count on that? When do you guys expect the backers to start receiving their GH's? Have you shipped some already? Also, are you guys going to be putting out anymore videos between now and release? I think a lot of people want to see more of some hands on videos. Finally, are you going to make any available to testers/reviewers prior to shipping out the final product? Thanks and good luck.

Trevor's response.

Hi,

The ship dates are expected to be reliable. We have waited a long time to open pre-orders so that we could provide good dates. Backers units have not started shipping yet, but we are working on that now. Videos and reviews will likely be coming out over the next 30 days or so.

Best,

Trevor

Just thought I would share what I have found out through him. This info makes me even more excited for the next update. Also, I am not real sure how the wait list is working. I signed up in I think August and received my pre-order email right before Xmas.

Yep, sorry folks, ill happily pay an extra 60 bucks and wait another year just to get some proper reviews and genuine usage videos. My hope and money is going to products that have videos and 3rd party reviews. That being said, I am really excited to see them!

Yeah I had asked about the wait list order and he said there was a bug in the system that messed that up, but it looks like its back on track and maybe open to all wait list members now?

Anyway im just glad I can finally order one of these things! As for titanium, it appeals to me for the color options and lighter weight, but I dono how the performance could be better. Maybe the thinner titanium allows for better thermal retention and results in an even fuller extraction?

I mean the steel is supposed to perform well already in that regard, and that is what they are testing now, so it must work perfectly well with steel. And when it comes to color, I dono if its really worth $50 more. I can pre order a stainless hopper with with two extra batteries for $150, and that sounds like a very solid value to me. And it sure looks nice in ss anyhow, just like the original Indica

Titanium heats up much faster than steel.

so i got also an e-mail today.. do you think that they are out of money and now trying to get some more with this waitinglist action...

ah by the way;"
The coloring process further enhances the thermal properties of the titanium, allowing for even greater performance."

do you realy think coloring does have something to do with better performance as they state on their webpage... or should this be a joke?

This vape would be a vas killer in my opinion if it works like they claim... and if it also would be efficient, taste good and produce large clouds...

hmmm should i order one?
do you think this vape will be really released... and what would be the benefit to take the chance and pre order it now... (waiting time... )

what will happen if there will be bugs and problems with the first released (?beta?) ...would i am be a beta tester so to say ... and do they have the finance to exist as long and replace units with problems, bugs...
A lot of questiony.....

Ok so i have one week to decide... hope they are releasing a good update on the 15th... hopefully with videos and so on..

If it were me, I wouldn't. I wouldn't order one till it's been on the market for a year and the fixes have been applied.

what will happen if there will be bugs and problems with the first released (?beta?)

There's no "if" about it. There WILL be bugs...........no doubt about it.

would i am be a beta tester so to say

Yes.

and do they have the finance to exist as long and replace units with problems, bugs...

stainless steel heats 3x faster than titanium alloy - thermal conductivity is greater for stainless steel.
Then why do the ti sublimators heat up so much faster than the ss models?
According to them, it's because ti heats up faster than ss.

Thermal conductivity for Ti and SS are not very different. Ti has a thermal conductivity is 15.6 while Stainless has a conductivity of 16.3. Higher the number the quicker it heats up. Technically Stainless Steel will heat up a little faster. I think the real reason for the different material used would be titanium's strength over stainless steel. I do wonder that since the body of the grasshopper is efectivley the wires, does titanium's or Stainless Steel's electrical conductivity allow for the battery to last longer because of the better efficiency? Also, stainless steel retains heat longer so would the tip of the titanium GH cool off quicker?

A lot of questiony......

I signed up on the waiting list a couple months ago and have not yet been notified. However, I will most definitely not be placing a pre-order. I'm skeptical about release dates, but more importantly, I'm not really prepared to be a first gen user of this vape.

Being an early adopter will involve headaches. Guaranteed. If you're prepared and cool about rolling with the punches, it can be kind of fun. And by prepared I mean a few other working vapes in your house at all times....and a fresh supply of packing tape. You will need lots of packing tape.

Plenty of FCers have already signed up to be real-world beta users, and we will learn a lot from them if/when the GH is released, so I'm not sure what the rush is to get in on the pre-order. As for whether or not GH is soliciting pre-orders for cash flow...that is actually quite possible, and standard business practice, so there's nothing strange or underhanded about it.

As I understood it the contributors to the campaign will get theirs first starting pretty soon, depending on the model and package supported. When they have been satisfied they will start filling the Wait List orders.

As far as early adopters there will of course be a higher number of problems, but then I've purchased Vapes that have been on the market for years that had problems. The Pax comes to mind. I finally abandoned it entirely after my second warranty replacement (3rd unit). This was towards its econd year of being on sale. On the other end of the spectrum I have an original ceramic bowl Solo (early adopter) I've been using since the Solo first came out. Original battery and I prefer it to the later SS model I have.

So to paraphrase Clint: "Are you feeling lucky?"

I don't know about everyone else but I am excited for the update tomorrow, but I am also a bit trepidacious. I think now that we know that they have the majority, if not all of the parts in, we should see a very positive update with firm confident ship dates for backers. I think that if there is no mention of firm ship dates by this update, it is a pointless update. There are a good amount of people, myself included who signed up for preorders and we received an "estimated ship" month. So, I think it's about time for GH to let their investors know when to expect them. I am a bit worried that all the issues and negative responses from the missed ship dates that have plagued them has made them insecure about releasing that info too early, which isn't necessarily bad. I think that this product hasn't been released yet because it had not been perfect for them and they didn't want to release an incomplete product, had they, then they would have been swamped with broken vapes and warranty claims. I wish more companies would hold back on release until the product is finished. Anybody who plays the game Destiny can relate. I am hopeful that they aren't expecting us to be beta testers for a buggy product because, since they are a small startup it could crush their business. I think they are smart enough to see this and this is why there were so many delays, I believe. Trevor said expect videos and reviews over the next 30 days, I guess we will see if this happens or not. If it does I think it will calm most people's worries about this pen. Also, if they are expecting reviews in the next 30 days does that mean Grasshoppers will be going out to some people within the next 30 days or just to specific reviewers? Idk but I hope something happens and we get to see other people with a GH and some honest reviews. What does everyone else think or hope for with respect to this update?

Sounds to me like we are on the same playing field. I do feel like they are perfecting this pen in every aspect before they release it, which is how I would prefer it other than rushing through. I remember seeing this addressed way back in the thread, but I wonder how Conrad leaving the company affected things? I can't recall all of the details or if it was even explained. I know he was replaced, but it still struck me off guard. If ones things for sure, he did know how to rock a sweet ukulele.

I didn't know Conrad left. Was this ever explained? If not does anybody have any revelation into what happened? I just keep picturing the scene from animal house, where belushi smashed that dudes guitar on the stairs, but instead of belushi it's Trevor and instead of a guitar it's a uke. Lol

Quick question HerbalHealing. When did you sign on for the grasshopper wait list? What month

Can't recall exactly, but it was at least 6-7 months ago. A while after their campaign ended.

2 days ago I received their email saying I had 3 days to order , after which I'd be moved to the end of the wait list. I figure if I'm using paypal, there should not be much risk for me as I wasn't comfortable contributing to the campaign when they technically don't owe me anything.

Does anyone's order have ETA's different than April? I assume campaign contributors are ahead of me.

My estimated date is April but some people's, for preorders are for March. Also, when I got my preorder email I had a week to order. It's weird that you only had three days. I wonder why the change?

I only had three days to pre order also.

Joined the wait list 1/27/14 but only got my pre order email a couple of days ago. Had forgotten all about it. lol

I also got a pre order e-mail with the specified 1 week to order else to the back of the queue you go :)
It was this vape that got me thinking about kicking my baccy habit, I missed the backing campaign, followed the progress for a bit, then figured I would have to get an interim vape in the meantime, purchased the INH05.
Was hyped up for the Grasshopper but don't like the style of selling now i've received this e-mail, should i feel honoured that i'm able to buy it when there really hasn't been many updates selling it to me, no reviews of anybody actually using it, and just how hot is the mouthpiece getting in the latest video with the vapours being pumped into the glass jar? Twin all this with the fact that if i bought it now it will be shipped in APRIL!!
I think Btka has it right with 'do you think that they are out of money and now trying to get some more with this waitinglist action...'
I hope it's a great product and that i have regrets for not getting it early, but it's just not in my nature to purchase without reviews, surely they have one working to get a 'bloke off the street' opinion for us folks that are cautious purchasers?
I'll just watch excitedly from the sidelines for now :)
