What was the problem with yingmin5 making the custom piece? Did he just not want to?
I'm not sure. I sent him pictures (of the UFO sidecar) he sent me a couple back of the do20-D. "I have this one". I replied like the GB-187 with this MP. And sent pic. After that the communication petered out.

Hmm.. I've spoken to him before, never about a custom piece, but about his current stock, and he replied very quickly and very helpfully. It would definitely be cool to have him on board, as his pieces and shipping/communication are top notch.

I pestered Lamin into selling the GB-187 and GB-186 on DHGate in singles. I found him under Shenzeng Genesis...on Alibaba. I posted about this and many others jumped onboard and began pestering as well.
It worked. I'm just not sure how close he actually is to the manufacturing process. He claimed that his brother owned the factory. I remember another FC member saying that he said his uncle owned the factory.(or some other family member IDK)

I believe lamin once told me it was his factory

He def seems a bit more interested in bulk sales IME, but I see some nice stuff from his store :)

Also, cross post from the other glass design thread:
Early on in the fc242 discussion a stereo matrix version was proposed as a possible upgrade as that perc seems better at getting water moving.

It was decided to stick with the standard matrix to keep it as just an upgraded gb-242, which I agree with, but the idea of a stereo matrix recycler has caught my imagination.

I was gonna take a crack at mocking up a design for a stereo matrix recycler, just wanted to know if anyone had any input/thoughts before I do so?

I'm thinking it should either be
a standard single uptake/single return funnel recycler, or
a single uptake per funnel/double funnel recycler, or
An interesting multi uptake/single funnel recycler - 3 or 4 uptake tubes.

That should be a pretty cool piece. Any reason why you don't like 2 uptake tubes, or just because that's the usual way? One tube could probably work pretty well if angled properly.

One tube leading to each of two funnels would look awesome as well.

Honestly, IMO the 2nd uptake tube on the GB-242/FC-242 is really just for aesthetics/symmetry.

Most recyclers use a single uptake, and it tends to work well.
I have a sneaky suspicion that the added turbulence from extra uptakes might make it harder to get a nice vortex?

I figure if we're gonna go with multiple uptakes again, going with 3 or 4 can allow for a different looking piece than the gb-242...

I think it'll work well too with 1 tube. It'll probably be easier to get the physics of the piece to cooperate and make a nice vortex, for the Chinese glass workers, with only one tube to deal with.
Looking forward to your mock-up design.

Thank you mods for the thread title change.

-------Edit-------

I noticed a couple people have mentioned using ice in a bubbler, and right now, there aren't really any good options. If anyone is interested in working on a nice can style bubbler, that can incorporate an ice section, you should post up some thoughts/suggestions.

For ice, you don't want the cold vapor having much contact with dry glass, and you don't want the water splashing up and hitting the ice, because that will melt it very fast and throw off your water levels mid-session.

I there some kind of program that simulates Fluid Dynamics?

That would be so awesome. Like a 3-d CAD.
The makers of Jet Waterpipe supposedly used something like this to design the perc so neighboring holes wouldn't fire simultaneously (causing the bubbles to merge), so it definitely exists. As I've said before, it'd be great if someone here knew how to use something like that.

Looks pretty cool. Wonder if anyone around here knows how to use it.

Anyone here have any desire/idea for a good fritted disk, can-style bubbler piece?
Honestly from personal experience and that of others I'd avoid the fritted disk for our concept pieces. I've repeated myself a lot on hating fritted discs but to be honest nearly every collector I know sees them for the gimmick they are. There are already plenty of fritted/honeycomb style options mass produced and to be honest a fritted disk performs terribly compared to other glass options. The making of the frit even can have an effect and I've seen some DGs with broken frits from overuse and they just break on cleaning. The frit specifically is just not a very viable design. If we are looking for innovative production glass designs, we are still missing some really cool designs I think a lot of people would dig.
Examples-

Micah evans flat recycler (this one looks surprisingly easy to produce for a micah evans and I guess that's why it's his new prodo, can explain design in detail function if interested but should look straightforward enough from the 2 vids)here's a better vid of it's function as that first one was short- although this one is worked, I find that I prefer the larger style with the 90 degree joint as in this vid

The other diffy pump, the classic. This looks like it still works great for those looking for a good cycling rig with low diffusion, here's another vid of it in action

The bubbler/bongs that I'd really see get more production are those with the 34mm joints for a build a bong. For example having a bubbler with a removeable 34mm-18mm female downstem similar to the illadelph ones
2473045999-6.jpg
, then being able to throw it on a stemline or straight stemless style
illidelph_glass_hash_oil_bongs_pipes_glass_weed-61-edit.jpg
34mm female bong (that could also be detachable, as a base unit swap that you can then add your desired percs/ice/mouthpiece) I see as a huge advantage, on top of the extra ease of cleaning. Many friends I know are big fans of build a bongs but they are so pricey and not available on markets like dhgate, but for the people I know that do have them have them as a house piece (and there is definitely a market in that it has its advantages if one person breaks it, they can simply replace the piece they broke, or upgrade in my buddies case hah). For more ideas there is always the hoss website- http://www.hossglass.com/category/products/build-a-bong and various other brands.

Finally to my knowledge there is not a handless torch tube vape out there- as mentioned by @blankrider on page 6, and most if not all people I know own a torch that would fit such a style rig, and I figure it could be extremely moderately priced for what it is, hopefully below 25$. I'm not quite sure what happened with that discussion in particular, whether it got drowned out by other posts or lack of interest, but pieces like that are a great option for those needing a 10mm domeless flavor rig on the go.}

Edit: oh and how could I forget, a variation on the elks that run shrink perc reycler style would be an awesome piece too and I bet sell quickly like this using this style of perc

So I've been working on building a relationship with the seller "newglassbong", so far so good. The 1st design I've proposed is a upgrid recycler. 1 day after messaging him a mockup, he listed the 1st prototype on their store. http://www.dhgate.com/store/product/new-factory-direct-whole-sale-2015-design/216978529.html

I messaged him yesterday with these revisions and he said he understood what I meant and a new one will be made asap.

If anyone's interested or can think of other good designs with gridded percs for this seller to replicate throw them down.

Damn he is quick. I like some of his pieces and it's so refreshing to see him use his own photos instead of stealing them from others.

Do you think they can replicate this showerhead with a dewaar joint?

rBVaGVSlUPGAC7JpAAJMjqKYj8I359.jpg

Or simply add a base to this piece.

Been looking for a big showerhead like this one forever now.

Yeah I really like this piece, slits look flame polished. I will tell them tonight to make one with a slightly taller can (2-3", more?), 18mm female joint, and a base.

@beastcoast,

I'm trying to buy the following two pieces from him, and I message him if he could bend the necks, or angle them .
He replied to a different question before but didn't quite understand my request, is there any way you could ask him that?
More people in these forums seem to be interested in bent necks rather than straight. And since the pieces are already made it won't be a big deal to modify them.

Thanks.

Yeah I was planning on telling them to change that piece from downgrid to upgrid, and make it a bent neck.

@beastcoast can you post a link to the store page. On mobile and I can't click the sellers name to get to their page.

Thanks
