Source Orb Pen Vape

Just ordered a Source Orb with double coil attachment. I have also ordered a five pack of the Terra Source atomizers. The later was not yet available so I guess it will take a while.
It will also be shipped to NL and that can also take a while. Very curious if this really is a step forward, both the dual coil and the Terra.
@SOURCEvapes When do you expect to start shipping the Terra Source atomizers?

I received my premium kit on Saturday and of course the first atomizer I tried was the Terra. I'm pretty impressed so far. The first hit is outstanding but what really impressed me were the hits after that, of course they weren't quite as good as the first but they weren't that far off either, even the very last few hits were tasty.

Since Saturday I've loaded about 20 large size dabs(which are very easy to load) and the taste has diminished a little, but only a little, as the taste is still really good all the way through the dab. Half my donut is burnt looking now and the flavor is still good.

Now that half of it is looking burnt I guess I should clean it. It looks like the only way to clean it is let it sit in ISO so I'll try that later tonight and see how well it does.

It was stated that these last 6-8 weeks with proper care which sounds great but to be honest I'd be satisfied if it only lasted me a couple weeks because the flavor is just that good. I was already planning on buying a 5 pack but I figured I'd wait to see how good it was first, I'm still going to give it another week before I order more but right now it looks like I'll be ordering a few 5 packs.

EDIT: A couple other things I forgot to mention. I'm running the Terra at 4.2 and I get about 4 sessions per charger on the battery which for me means I'll be charging it nightly, might look into a bigger battery.

As far as getting another battery goes, probably a good idea but I wouldn't buy one from Source unless you're worried about color coordination- at least not the 650mah one they sell. I don't know the resistance of the terra atty (my premium kit is yet to arrive), but there are plenty of variable ego batteries available for less than $25. If the Terra is not sub-ohm, 1100mah ego twists are on ebay for less than $15. If it is, Divine Tribe sells the x6 for $16 shipped (apparently less if you e-mail him and mention this forum). Granted, the x6 only has 3 voltage settings, but one of them is the 4.2 you've been using.

@Sourevapes, Correct me if I'm wrong here and there's something special about your batteries that makes them worth their price (the 2600mah one is a reasonable deal, granted)

I will be using the terra with Tetra Labs pure gold (exclusively- long story) as soon as my premium kit arrives- I'll make sure to post here with my impressions. I'm curious to see how it compares to the Thermovape products I'm used to.

SOURCE terra is not sub-ohm and reads at 1.5-1.9 ohm.

Our SOURCE big rig Battery is fantastic deal at 2600mah with a variable voltage range of 3.2v - 4.8v, and is only $29.95.

And if you use coupon code POWERTOTHEPEOPLE, you'll get 25% off!

That's useful information, thanks. :) Looking forward to trying my Terra (tracking says it should show Thursday).

Nothing to say about the 650mah battery price, eh?

Granted most of the cheapest variable batteries are clones, which is another :worms:

Meh- obviously I'm just quibbling as I threw down my $60 :peace:

Posted this review on Reddit a while ago and figured might as well share it here.

Order Process 7/10 The website is fast easy to use and works pretty well, product descriptions could do with a little more info. There is always coupons to be found thats a big plus. Shipping was slow for me, yet understandable took almost a month, yet again it was a new upgraded orb and a new atomizer for which I believe they got more orders then they intended.

Customer Service 10/10 Source is an amazing company, They always try to accommodate people. I non stop emailed them with questions and concerns they got back to me quickly and nicely. I swear on the Vapor gods that I am no way affiliated with SOURCEvapes, thought I would like to be (Source if you're reading this...) Honestly if you order with them fear not their customer service is the some of the best in the industry, don't be afraid to email them.

Value 8/10 For the price of $80 you get a lot, Nice battery, Orb, Dab tool, Concentrate container, Charger,8 different atomizers, Yet NO instructions. I realized quickly the purpose of this kit, to try be able to try all the different atomizers and then later on order a 5 pack of your favorite. biggest tip I can give you, If you get the premium kit, DON'T order a 5 pack, wait see what you like and then order accordingly Package Contents Sorry it's Upside down

Tool and Container

Battery

Atomizer Family Minuis one

Orb Itself 9/10 Can't say much bad about this thing, it's sexy, well made, has a good feel. It's got the airflow and ease of use from something like a glass globe, yet it's got the durability of a normal pen. I love how easy it is to use the atomizers, just switch one in and you're ready to go. It's like a PC the orb is the case and you can change and upgrade the inside. Overall its a great piece and I could not be happier. Only things I would change would be maybe adjustable airflow and Just a tad bit smaller.

Orb Note larger air holes

New Mouthpiece

Fully Assembled Orb

The Battery 5/10 It's not for me, to big I wanted a pen to be small and and that stealthy. Luckily there is a fix, Since it's 510 Threaded I can get my own battery. I bought a 350Mah battery and its perfect, that combined with the orb is about half an inch smaller than my iphone 5s. This battery does not have Variable Voltage or that big of a battery life but its a sacrifice i'm willing to make for that size. 350Mah Battery

Atomizers 7/10 I like the variety. so far I have tried two. single coil Wickless, I like it need more time to figure out how to use is in the most efficient way possible but I'm very happy with it either way. Only Problem with all the atomizers I see is that allready there is a good amount of reclaim in the ceramic cup. Wish it would not build up quite as quick. Other is the TERRA and I'll Give that it's own section

Singal Coil Wickless

The TERRA Atomizer 8/10 first impression with this was bad, had the voltage too high and just vaped it off in two hits. Few days pass and I decided to give it another shot, I did not think it would work, so I loaded the smallest dab ever. I took the smallest about I could cut of my wax with the tool and placed placed maybe 1/3rd of it in the atomizer. this time I used my small battery not sure on the voltage somewhere around 4.0 i would guess. I was shocked when it worked, they are not big smoky clouds like that of the signal coil atomizer. more like wispy vapor clouds. either way I got about 8 hits off it and got to a solid [6] for about an hour. I think I know what ill do with my orb. the way I see it i've got to options, Single coil wickless for like 3-4 big hits with a small amount of wax, I would use this to actually get high. the TERRA I would load the same small amount and get 8-10 small hits, better for staying high through a night.

The TERRA

Overall Thoughts 9/10 I really do Like it the orb hits like a champ. i've got all sorts of atomizers to play with and figure out what I like and when the time comes I can upgrade it with a 5 pack of my choice. I've only used a Gpen before and this blows that away, I can't comment on it with other pens but I love it and think its a fantastic option. Please feel free to ask me any questions and I will do my best to answer them. If my opinions change Ill put up another updated review. as for now I'm a "Highly" Satisfied customer, And with the help if the orb I plan to remain that way for a long time to come.

My Fully Assembled Orb

Sorry for any spelling and grammar errors, I have been writing this for an hour and a half now, I'm tired.

After looking at eBay I'll be ordering my battery through Source. I just looked and I can get the 2600 battery in black chrome to match my Orb for around $25 with that extra 25% off. The 2600 ones I found on eBay were about the same price but they wouldn't match the Orb so it's pretty much a no brainer for me.

Yup like I said their bigger battery is actually a fine deal with the coupon code (meaning it's a bit expensive, but they're a small company... definitely understandable). It's the 650mah battery that's ridiculously overpriced (imo) even with a coupon code.

Basically I already have a love/hate relationship with source, and my kit hasn't even shown up yet. I love that they are building an all-ceramic atty for low temperature applications, the responsiveness of their customer service, the aesthetics of the orb, the warranty, etc. I'm aggravated by the way they've set up their product line and big discount codes (seems like i'm forced to waste money on my first purchase), the fact that I can't use my own drip tip on the orb, and the way it feels like (in the batteries at least) they are making customers pay for the privilege of advertising their product. (all of their competitors that I've considered don't have their own branded batteries, and thus sell them for much cheaper.)

From a pure business standpoint I understand many of their choices, but as a customer I feel like I'm being taken for a bit of a ride. /End Rant :peace:

So I have had my premium kit for about a week. Love it so far, but I am a beginner a wax/oil pens. My question is- how does the oil soak into the wick, does the ceramic cup also feed the wick from the bottom? If that is the case it seems like I need to load a LOT of material. Or do you melt the dab into the wick and anything leftoversmelt into the cup? I have tried the terra and the taste was amazing. My only previous experience is convection dabbing through a herbalizer.

So does the Terra atty's really vape all your oils completely without leaving residual oil left in the bottom of the bowl? I really like the idea of this. Anyone have trouble with clogging? Would love it if I could just throw a nice pea size dab in there and vape though a movie without reloading.

Can anyone comment on if this battery will work good with the orb

I take about a piece of rice size dab and put it directly on the coil and melt it in

Has anyone tried the dry herb hitter with wax? Vape life will did a review on the orb kit, saying you can take low temp dabs with them?

Also, for anybody that has the kit, what voltage does one use for the terra and double wick less atomizer

Sure you could use that battery, but I wouldn't recommend it. Ceramic atomizers have a tendency to raise their resistance a bit as they are fired, so you probably want something that outputs a constant voltage. (it could be that the terra does not do this, it's hard to test for these things, but better safe than sorry). Also that's $35 for a 1300mah battery- horrible value. What you want is an 1100mah ego c-twist. They can be had on ebay for less than $15 shipped, and have the same voltage range as the source batteries. Give it a search on ebay :)

In other news I recieved my premium kit yesterday, and after night classes I took it for a spin with Tetra Labs Pure Gold. I don't have that great of a camera on hand to show this, but what I received didn't look that pristine. I am trying to get my hands on a camera/lighting to show this, but the orb was seriously smudged, and the Terra atty had what looked like graphite marking on it. Now, I have seen similar things from other products coming out of chinese e-cig product factories, and generally they don't affect performance. So I wasn't really put off as when it comes to vaping performance is all that truly matters to me- so I can get to an anxiety-free space :)

The terra's performance is extremely impressive for a "somewhere in Shenzen" product. As others have said, flavor is quite good (not on the level of Thermovape's Cera, but that's a different price class). You get the distinct flavor of the oil you are using- it's just not quite as clean as it could be. It tastes like whatever heating wire is being used, it's in the airpath and contributing something. But then again, maybe that just means the grey lines on my ceramic are not benign. Either way, I started off by setting my battery to 3.6v- and got an incredibly useful (from a medical perspective) vape. Still visible vapor, I only coughed once or twice (and they weren't bad at all), and I felt just the slightest bit euphoric- but my anxiety had disappeared :)

The orb provides me exactly what my sensitive system has been looking for: a ceramic atomizer with variable voltage control. (as awesome as the thermovape gear performed, I couldn't get past my need for power control to vape at low temps like I prefer) So I can't help but be glad that I have it- it's pretty much the only game in town for me at present. However, since I first went to source's website I have felt like everything costs more than it should given what it is. I think the reason for this is a simple one:

Fasttech.

Having spent lots of time browsing fasttech, and having bought multiple e-cig atomizers from them (only to discover I am allergic to both PG and VG... sigh), it is fairly clear to me that the source hails from one of the many Shenzen (China) factories that in some ways dominate the e-cig market. That's why I wasn't too put off by the cosmetic issues with my source: I have seen the same thing from other atomizers from china (the same markings on ceramic parts, and the same kind of blemishes) In fact, I suspect that's where the off taste I noticed is coming from: machine oils. Sigh... so much for the tiny bit of oil in my atty :(

Basically the point of that last paragraph is that while the source is clearly a branded, custom design, it also comes from the same Shenzen factories that supply Fasttech- but we are paying probably twice what we would if the source orb was on fasttech. This isn't meant to skewer source- at the end of the day the reality of running such a business is that markups are necessary. They just seem a little bit high to me at source, but that's their prerogative. Just don't be surprised if you see this design on fasttech. And then don't be surprised if you order one and it's functionally 99% identical. Happens all the time in the E-cig game, and in that case they're copying designs from across the world- not across the street :p

So I highly recommend the Source orb w/ terra atty- But I just as vehemently recommend that we all keep our eyes peeled- the divine tribe attys for example don't look to be at the level of this design, but close enough that we should expect Chinese-designed competition soon, and for far less cash.

Happy Vaping to All,

MPZ

Oh and a PSA- your Source atties may require cleaning before use!

Not the most flattering post, but the ultimate thing i received from it was that you liked it and it got you medicated. I guess they got me on the battery. So are you saying that the big rig wont supply the voltage I need for low temp dabs?

Nah i wanted to do the same but you have to either buy the premium kit and it will come with one terra or the 40 dollar double coil kit and then a pack of 5 terras for another 40.
I just did the latter and spent 80 this morning I'm hoping this will replace my Ophos with the titanium kiss carts.

And if you want a battery it will be like 95 or somthing

MPZ,

You made me cancel my order. I did not know if the big rig battery would be the best fit with the terra. I don't know much about variable voltage other than the Core. What is sub ohm and all this technical talk. I want to make sure I buy the best setup for the terra.

Pretty sure You just need a standard variable voltagle 510 battery homie. one that gos up to 4.8 volts.
I got one on eBay 15$

From what i understand You can run the Terra attys at whatever voltage you prefer. the guy a few posts above said he used it at 3.7v and it worked good, saw a few others say 4.0v. You can experiment and find a voltage that works best for you. Obviously 4.8v will hit the hardest but your concentrates won't last as long.

Hey guys did anyone else get their 5 pack of Terra? I received my 5 atomizers + 1 from the Orb purchase and ONE works. One atomizer out of SIX works. Anyone else get this unlucky?

I got one terra with my orb kit that works fine, not a huge fan to be honest. My favorite was the signal coil wickless but after it's 5th session it broke, emailed source on saterday and the still haven't got back to me. Not sure what's up with them lately but I'm slowly losing confidence in the company.

I eventually canceled my order of the 5 pack. I was already upset that I couldn't buy just a single Terra, and after 2 weeks I realized it was backordered enough that I didn't want to bother.

ORB AND TERRA REVIEW.

I ordered the source orb Friday the 9th along with a 5 pack of Terra attys. I got them both in the mail today. not bad shipping time at all.

•FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

Nice wieght and quailty. I like how smooth the threading is on the piece's that screw together.
Its not rough or bumpy when threading like some of the cheaper all metal attachments I've used.
The wickless double coil attys look real nice and I like how low the coils sit in the bowls, it really looks like it would be able to vape up almost every last bit of concentrates with how there set up.

The terra attys were all individually packed in little plastic wrappers and all 5 were in a small 3" box
They all looked consistant and well built expect one had the ceramic donut raised sitting slightly higher in the bowl than the rest. That was kinda off putting since they were 40 bucks, but I haven't tryed or messed with that one yet to see if it preformed any differently from the rest.
(It may not even make a difference or I may be able to just push it down a little with a dab tool)
(Any one else notice something like this?)

BATTERY:

The battery Im using I bought on eBay for 15$ and it looks real sexy on the orb. here's a link for the battery. (I got it in chrome)

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=221656988632&alt=web

PERFORMANCE:
The only atomizer I tryed so far was the terra,
mainly because that's the whole reason I was interested in this attachment. I'm not the kind of guy that likes huge hits. I rarely hit rigs because I hate sitting there coughing for 3 minets while my lungs are imploded lol. I like to just sit back relax and feel like I'm smoking a blunt.
Now with that said I thought the Terra was awesome and as of now if it stays consistent with its performance it will 100% replace my Ophos with the kiss carts.

I loaded up the Terra with a nice pea size dab (I'm using some QWISO) and I started my battery out at 3.8v and let it rip.
Took about a 5-6 second draw to get a nice throat hit and some nice fluffy clouds. Taste was awesome! IMO it blew the kiss carts away with taste and just as source claims the flavor does stay prominent through out most your session.
I felt like it only started droping off alot when the oil was getting close to being all used up. Then you could start to taste that it was getting "dry"
But it still tasted way better than a dry kiss cart or even my haze vaporizer, witch will tend to give you a little bit of a metallically taste at the end of a dab session.

Finnally after around 20 nice hits or so my pea size dab was just about spent, I did turn the volatage up to 4.3 toward the end and was able to pull a few more hits out of it.

(I was fully medicated)

All in all I'm pretty impressed. I've been looking for a set up like this for a while so I hope the attys hold up and last as long as they claim.

I'll chime back in this weekend when I bust out the big hiiting double wickless lol

Peace FC.

Edit: source definitely needs to come out with a starter kit that includes at least 2 Terra attys.
Its really dumb they got this awesome atomizer but you gotta pay an extra 40 just to try it.
