One tip I have to keep from cracking your case is to press down firmly on the cooling unit towards the o ring as your rotating it into place. The more you compress the o ring the less force the case has to endure.

Good call,
A little non toxic lubricant for the o ring helps I use a tiny amount of 'e cig juice' vegetable glycerine every so often helps it twist on better especially when warm.

hi, I would like to know how S and B is dealing with these? "battery/charge" issues and the cracking of the docking area on your crafty. Has anyone contacted them?

I have yet to contact them. I'm keen to hear what happens to other users when they hit 60+ hours so ill sit it out this next week before sending it in.

That just happened...
I finally got to try Sasquatch_Jr's vapelog app today. My 4 year old macbook pro didn't support it but an inexpensive bt adapter got it up to speed. The app works great and I appreciate him going to the trouble of creating it.

Hey guys, I'm new to this thread, but not new to vaping. I've learned a lot about the Crafty reading this thread, so thanks to all of you for that. I do have a question for you though.

I've had my Crafty about a week now, and I love it, except for the miserable battery life. Do any of you know if I can return my slightly used Crafty to Storz-Bickel for an upgrade to the Mighty? I've had it for seven days now. Of course I'd pay the extra $60. I purchased it at a local retailer. I emailed storz-bickell last Monday about this, and they still have not replied to me. I wrote to info@storz-Bickel and america@storz-bickel.

I'm still waiting for an email reply from S & B after 7 days. I thought Storz-Bickel was all about customer service.

Thank you for any advice.

I'm guessing S&B won't do much for you since you already used it. I'm thinking you are going to need to sell/repurchase or trade to get what you want but let us know otherwise.

At least you can plug the Crafty into a micro-usb power bank. Maybe consider purchasing one of those and keeping it plugged in when not in use??

Thanks for the quick reply. I agree, I don't think that Storz-Bickel will do anything, but I thought I would ask anyway since it is so new.

Questions about charging the Crafty.

How long after use is the battery cool enough to charge?

If we shouldn't charge a warm battery, why does Storz-Bickel say it's ok to use the Crafty while charging?

Doesn't seem right.

..............................................................................
Any Li-Ion battery should not be used/charged/discharged at the same time for maximum battery life. From studying battery care, this is especially true in a high power drain device.
Some vaporizers even say it is dangerous to do this. I personally would not do it.
S & B says it is ok but they might be getting some battery replacement business from this. $50 for Crafty battery replacement.

It will not charge if the battery is to warm, it usually takes around 3-5 mins for the unit to 'cool' down then it will let the charging begin again. It only charges the crafty when the unit is not powering the heat. unforuately it can only pump about 10w into the battery so it can never keep up. Even with a 25W 5V PSU from a flat crafty it only takes around 1.7- 2A. Remember these cells are designed for abuse.. they were designed to gointo laptop packs. fast charge, hugh drain and next to no ventilation/heatsink.

Why not? I vape start to finish at 410F usually…

Just curious. Most people don't. I'm guessing your like
Me and just after the biggest clouds/most medicated effect! I tried start to finish at max temp the other day too, really nice clouds and it wasn't really harsh considering it was on max. I wonder if I throw some of the vaped buds from max temp sessions into the bong if I will get high at all. That will be the true test of its efficiency. If smoking the same vaped at max temp weed does nothing U know you pretty much extracted all the goodies!

There was some good advice a few pages back, and I think we need to re-visit the concept.

When attaching the filling chamber, you want to compress the blue O-ring that sits near that flimsy piece of the heat sink grate.

When you put the filling chamber on, press down to seat it firmly before you twist. It feels a little strange but if you push down fully before you twist it sideways, you can see the clearance of the little locking mechanism. Just remember You don't have to twist hard. Seat it firmly, twist it gently.

I'll admit, it's not the beefiest design up there, you just have to understand it's limitations and work within those parameters. Gotta work with what they gave us. Sorry some of you guys had to learn that out, I can definitely say I'm trying to learn from your mistakes.
aThat's why we needed to revisit that, props to whoever said that a few pages back, they were on point.

Hi Very high
38hrs on my Crafty now. I ran the battery right down to empty earlier today after 2 big packed overflowing bowls that must of been 20min each session minimum. I used a stopwatch and from empty to full has just taken 2hrs and 33mins to fully recharge

Do you know how long I need to charge the crafty before first use? Is there a recommended time? My phantom premiere v2 needed a 6 hr. Charge but I don't see anything on the the crafty manual.

I still don't know how it's possible for a vape to hit this hard and be so amazing for its size. Makes me wonder why all the vapes even exist if they don't perform this good. Every portable VAPE i ever tried gave me a weak high and never produced good clouds except for a solo but that's a real PITA to use. The Crafty is the best thing since sliced bread! Shits on the pax completely! It's ACTUALLY a portable Vape that hits so hard it gets combusters high in between sessions when on the go. I used to believe vaping was only truly effective for those who don't combust. But with the crafty it makes ALL types of users HAPPY AS SHIT! Because I'm not a vaper by any means and I still love this thing! I had the volcano for years and never used it because even though it's an amazing device I always got higher from combusting. With the crafty I feel like it gets you even more high then the volcano because of the fact your not forcing air into a balloon and the hits are more pure vapor then a combination of vapor and air

Since you say the Crafty will not charge if the battery is too warm, then can I plug it in to the charger immediately after using it, and then when it cools down enough, it will start charging automatically?

What is up with Storz-Bickel customer service? I emailed them several times over a week ago, and I still have not gotten a response, in 8 days. So I tried to call them today, And no one was available to answer the phone. You aren't even given the option to wait on hold. I called them at 1:30 PM their time. I certainly don't call this good customer service. For all intents and purposes, they are on reachable!

Yes just plug it in right after use and it will charge when its cooled enough to begin charge.

I've never tried to contact them.. but it looks like ill struggle anyway.

Thanks Vambo1980, I'm glad to know that I don't have to sit around and wait for the crafty to cool off before I hook it up to a charger. It's so much easier to remember to plug it in right after a session.

Will say that so far all the combusters that ive heard after they hit the crafty were impressed with the high. Around here we generally do well rounded buzz in session with others, so about 180-185 until no vapor and last few puffs at boost of max temp.

What are you folks thinking about all puffs at max or close to max? I wasnt as happy with it as it seemed to reduce the number of draws by three fold!

i do that if i want to knock myself out before bed. i get massive clouds from the first draw itself vs the 2nd or 3rd if I start at 180c say
