Looks good! That connection between the cord and the faux battery always looked like a possible point of failure to me. Looks like they wanted to make sure it wasn't!
Truth be told. my prev one was always fine in that part.. but I see what you mean. I had my original PA for maybe 2 years?

The company is seriously awesome. New PA already arrived. Was helped by none other than Hobbit. I noticed they made an upgrade on the PA. There's an extra metal piece on the "battery" part of the adapter. It sits flush with the Box when seated. I notice the button takes far less effort to actuate the unit as well (not that it was super hard before).

Anyway you could show the battery part hooked in the LB?

Wonder if thats just an add-on piece for the Power Adapter?
If is just covers the wire or its the main support/attachment.
Going to email them.

It might well help strain from killing the cable up close as they tend to do, but it also looks like the end lacks any protection? That is just moving the problem out 3/4 inch or so?

OTOH it also looks like it might be a stop which would be nice since you're pressing on the end?

It looks like it gives a larger and easier-to-grip surface to facilitate insertion and removal. It would be way cool if they offered it as a DIY retrofit for existing PA2.0 units.

Sure could use some strain relief on that cable, though. A wire spring type would not only work well, but it would compliment the MFLB and the new metal shroud gizmo!

is there any way to get the updated p/a like by returning the awkward original one that I have, or something like that? i mean, i love the way it operates, but that semi-triangular thick-ass wiring is simply a hassle. in comparison to all the other products, mf sells, which are small, unobtrusive and perfect, the original design seems like overkill.

Hey there @blazenot :)

That definitely sounds like a question for Magic Flight Customer Service . . . mind you, I do like your thinking (even if a little cheeky :p - or maybe thats just me) & to be honest I really would not be that surprised if they did you the honor.

MFCS2nd2None!

Send them a nicely worded email explaining your situation, show some love & see what happens.

Good luck!

Magic flight is an amazing company, and they want you to be happy. Really, they actually care. Send their customer service an email and explain you are getting annoyed with the older design and that it does not work with your current set up, they will most likely just ask for proof of you destroying your current PA, and they will ship out a new one. But if it works solid, I'd just stick with it until a cord comes undone or the bottom breaks, and then warranty it. Good luck!

Perhaps, and I understand your wanting the new model (although having both I think performance is the same). However, this was not part of the deal, any more than you should expect Lexus to swap your 2 YO car for a new one.

Same as you could always have an 'accident' with your Lexus that totals it you could probably go that way with the PA of course, but without the risk of higher insurance rates to follow.

I tend to agree, they are likely to support such an effort without too much question if presented 'right'......however that's not really free. Someone will have to pay for it.......and that would be us. Everyone who buys MF products in the future will have to pay a little more to cover the windfall of a few. It's not really like 'making the rich pay their fair share' here I think.

I don't mean to sound harsh (I do understand the desire for a free upgrade) but it's how I see it. I agreed to trade mere money for my original PA. Free lifetime upgrades weren't part of the deal (or it would have cost more?). I'm not comfortable with the idea of changing that agreement (contract, actually) unilaterally after the fact. I don't expect them to upgrade mine for free on demand and pass the cost to someone else, unlike an honest failure which was (in theory) included in the purchase price.

Looking again at the photo, that new metal piece looks like it could easily just be added to an existing PA (2.0 anyway - I'm not sure if the "battery" end of the original PA is the same). I might write them and ask about it.

That's how I see it as well. I can't see them changing the body part if they didn't have to (that is a clamp assembly added on). Field upgrades might be possible (subject to the cable as well). Here I can see it (supplying free clamps) as 'cheap insurance' on their part against the cable failures this seems to prevent.

Good luck with the request, please let us know? TIA.

I certainly get the different sides of the replacement debate, but the Lexus argument is flawed as if i trade in an older lexus for a new model, I'll certainly get value for the old one. i'd be glad to pay a pro-rated amount for the one ive had less than a year. I don't expect something for nothing. emailing them now.will update--maybe on page 1000 YAY

Absolutely. Post the used one on the classifieds, take the cash and buy what you want. Doesn't even have to be a PA or a vape. Just like with your two YO Lexus. Just don't expect the dealer to swap you straight across. Or expect the dealer will buy the used one back as a given unless that was part of the deal as well? Unlike MF, he may have a use for used units. They are not compelled to accept 'trade ins' any more than MF is I think. In practice most dealers use used cars as a separate profit center and/or to support new car sales as I understand it, typically wholesaling them away quickly?

If that works I would be really surprised. I don't think I have ever seen any mention of how to trade up MF equiptment either on their site or anywhere on the net. Good Luck

I thought I read @Buildozer post .
That he warranted his old PA and was given
the newer PA . b/c they stopped manufacturing the old style .

My current PA * old v * is in need of being replaced .
It just doesn't make any connection whatsoever .
I'll be contacting MF soon . Will keep you updated .

Looking at this photo, I think when I get around to buying another Box, I'll probably get a Walnut one. I've had this one for years and over time there have been grinded up pieces of flowers that fell on the surface of the box before I closed the lid. Eventually (as you can see) some residue has built up on to the box. It doesn't affect it in any way other than cosmetically, but I imagine that would blend in just fine with the Walnut units.

For those of you looking to upgrade the PA... I would say just be happy with your PA right now as long as its working fine. I know its easy to get OCD about this stuff and get caught up in it.. but if you own a PA now its already backed by MFLB's lifetime warranty. You shouldn't be too worried because if your unit ever does fail, it'll be replaced... and who knows maybe by that time they'll have another upgrade.

Yeah, as long as it's broken you'll get the new version.

what I wrote to MF
is there any way to trade in my clunky pa accessory for one of the newer, sleeker, handier 2.0 power models? I'd be glad to pay some $$ pro-rated for a new model; even though the old works fine --I don't want to be dishonest and claim a warranty--it's too clunky, if you get my meaning, never sits right and just isn't as classy-looking as the 2.0.
thanks

True the walnut units hide those resin stains fairly well but if you want to get rid of them on your current box just get a rag or paper towel, dampen it with a little bit of clear alcohol (I use 70% iso) and give the box a quick wipe and she'll be as purty as she was when she was new. Afterward you can apply some underbutter or cutting board oil to keep the wood from getting chapped but it's not necessary ... I've done this several times with my 4 year old maple box without using any type of oil on the wood and it still looks new.

Stupid question, but is the new power adapter worth asking around for, or is the difference trivial? I'm considering getting one but the new plug is still so new that websites haven't updated their photos.

Happy 1000 pages!

I was recently at a head shop looking for a vaporizer. The clerk suggested the launch box. I bought it as I'm looking for something for my 70 year old Mother who Has chronic medical issues. I tried it and find that it combusts immediately. I sent in a warranty request with pictures and everything required. The rep replied back asking for more pictures and documentation. I understand that the world is full of dishonest people and there is a reason for them to question but the trouble to deal with all the warranty procedures is not worth it to me. Life is too short to worry about $100.

So my question is...is anyone else having combustion issues? Or are there other vaporizers I should look at. I have little experience with these things and want something user friendly for my Mom.
