On a side note I also copped some opals today just because I havent tried any yet and I just snuck in on a 1/2 lb of the yet to be released northstar half life UV glass. Strongest uv out there.

Just a heads up, the first dedicated oil gong for the nano was a giant FAIL. :(
I can get the oil to boil but not produce anything other than wispy vapor.

I have one more idea to try and then I'm out of ideas.

It needs to be so that where the dab rests is almost touching the heater :shrug:

Yeah my design is based off of the vxn. Except mine was supposed to work upside down. Unfortunately that's a no go. I do believe I could make one that'd work for dry use based on the vxn but who the hell wants to do a dry dab!

Or you'd have to use a hydratube.

This first prototype does however work beautifully as a screen less all glass herb gong!

It was a valiant effort V&C nice try. I was worried it wouldn't recieve enough heat. Any chance your going to try the design I mentioned? If u get it as close as possible to the heating element it just might work.

The vxnail works because the oil is dropped closer to the heat source and we get higher temps. I would wager that this can't be done in any log vape I have every used. The herb is already as close to the heater as you can get.

Yeah from my understanding on how the Cloud+ worked, the bamboo is heated by a ceramic heater wrapped around it. It transfers heat through conduction to the bamboo and this conduction would continue on through to the VXnail, since it is dropped down into the Bamboo. Then once you take a hit, the combo of conduction/convection carries the oil outward.

Am I thinking of it wrong? I've only seen images and haven't touched the EVO yet.

Could you maybe extend the GonG pass the .1mm lip, a longer GonG but one that extends into the unit? IDK if the SS tube would be enough conduction to heat the glass.

Was thinking maybe that if the glass spends a lil bit of time inside the nano's inner chamber, touching the heat soaked metal.

Shortened it up the extra 1/4" yielded even more boiling but very minimal vapor. If the nano actually went to 11 I think it'd do it! I'm out of ideas for now. I need like a small fritted filter or like @MuushuPork said, a small healthstone like insert.

Oh well back to the drawing board.

I've contemplated cannibalizing one HS to fit it in one of my 14mm glass-screened gong, and see if that would work. The way I have stuff get stuck in my HS occasionally, which then needs a bit of hotter torch, makes me wonder if it just wouldn't plug eventually, and need replacing (not sure if a HS can be cleaned, other than torch?)?

Anyway, how about something like a fritted perc, only a bit thicker? lots of tiny airpaths, none direct...

The Healthstone insert is the same idea I had tried for VXN upside down use. The problem is that the stone needs to be substantially hotter in order to cook the oil and produce vapor once the oil is suspended within the stone. The huge difference in thermal retention between the very porous ceramic and the borosilicate tube caused all sorts of havoc. Some oil would trap itself in the stone which would not be released as vapor, but would eventually melt back out of the stone. Some oil would cook way too quickly and then burn so it tasted horrible. I just couldn't get it to work... And destroyed a Stone in the process.
