What does your significant other think about vaping?

Not sure if this is the right place for it, but I'm sure the mods will move it if needed.

Anyway, I was expressing my love of the ritual of vaping to my SO, and got back the same stare I give her when any reality show is bought up. Having no one irl who shares my passion is no fun.

What are your situations? Does your SO love vaping and vaporizers as much as you do? Do you hide your VAS? Are you the lukewarm one with regards to vaping?

My girlfriend will partake on occasion, but overall, she doesn't really get it. She especially doesn't understand why I'd ever need more than one vaporizer. Every time I buy a new one, she tends to get annoyed. However, I've since sold a few of my units, which made her a feel a little better about me owning multiple devices.

She used to give me shit about vaping every night too, but she's warmed up to it over time due to how responsible I am with my usage. At this point, my usage is as much medical as it is recreational, so she's totally cool with it. Most nights she doesn't join me, but she will every once in a while if she has some particularly bad muscle pain and wants to get some sleep. She says weed makes her tired almost instantly no matter what. I guess it doesn't help that I exclusively vape Indica strains. :D

My wife is not into it nearly as much as me. For example, I thought she might want to learn something about the equipment so I printed out an info sheet when I got my miniVAP. So--I asked if she'd like to read about it? Nah.

My hubby got his MMJ recommendation first - when I saw the results, I went and got mine.

Like Vicki's husband, my own hubby is thrilled that I can address so many health challenges without using pharmas... just as he didn't want to use pharmas for his pain issues.

I use a lot more than he does, as it hits him differently than it does me... we process differently. He tells me that he is just happy to live off my exhales!

We are moving into growing our own medicine, as we both want to utilize it as a fresh, dark green leafy vegetable in smoothies, as well as the usual vaping/edible. He and I ordered the grow tent & light yesterday! :)

And, about vaping... when he got his mmj rec, he was pretty anxious to find a better way than the usual burning... I jumped all over research, and found the first vape. His only issue is that he doesn't care much for change... and I kept finding better vapes! we're pretty well set at this point, however, and he's even gone as far as hitting a dab off the Healthstone by himself! he uses the EVO for flowers occasionally, and he and I will share an ENano session most evenings.

Not dating her anymore, but it went unnoticed most of the time, where as she could always tell I'd been smoking. I used in front of her on a few occasions. She never smoked but did try a friends Pax when I was still smoking! She didn't like, I didn't like it, and neither did my friend. Not a Pax fan.

While my husband smoked back "in the day," he only partakes on rare occasions now and it's only a hit or two.

I, on the other hand, have become fully immersed in vaporization and probably have more paraphernalia than I did in my "youth." My husband supports my usage, which is heavy. He totally prefers it to opiates; a sentiment that I share. He's never complained about the cost or the amount I use. However, on occasion I'll get the "It's because you vape so much" line. Usually when I've forgotten something... or he's trying to get me to believe I've forgotten something he never told me...

The wife and I are recreational users and not medical users in the true sense. Meaning...we don't use it for anything chronic, (no pun intended), but will use it for occasional headaches, nauseousness, pain, can't sleep, etc...that is if we're not already using it at the time :brow:.

My wife was a goody two shoes about everything when we first fell in love 34 years ago and was not happy when she found out I smoked MJ. I on the other hand had left home at 17 to join the Navy and had seen the world and had been on my own for quite awhile so I wasn't real open minded about her issue with me using. We argued about MJ constantly even though I was doing really well in school and career wise and had been using since I was 15. One day we really got into it and I told her 'Until you try it yourself I'm not going to take your opinions seriously and this will never get resolved'. A week or so later we had the day to ourselves and I remember how scared she was to try it but she was worried about my use and knew she wasn't going to convince me to give it up without trying it. I was as careful as I could be with the dosage but it hit her really hard and she got a serious case of the paranoids. For the first 30 minutes it was really bad for her. Fortunately I had prepared by getting her favorite cookies and suggested eating a few might chill her out. She bit into one cookie and the look on her face was priceless when she said 'OMG! These are the best cookies I've ever eaten!' I suggested kissing can also be pretty cool when high....... It was the longest and best kiss in the history of lips and the rest, as they say is history. Some of you may be saying I wasn't playing fair by bringing out the cookies and kissing but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do

Until the wife retired recently she couldn't use MJ due to the random drug testing where she worked so it was all me for over a decade and during the work week I don't get buzzed until 7pm. Wife retired and started making up for the lost decade and an ounce wouldn't last near as long. WE got into vaping when I started looking into ways to stretch our MJ use due to her re-joining the use club. Even though we have a Solo the wife prefers the MFLB during the day when I'm working for quick hits to do housework or exercise. At night when I'm home it's all about the Solo for both of us.

Best of all - Our MJ use has gone up by more than double but the same amount lasts at least 25% longer than when it was just me using! Thank goodness for vaping, FC and the good folk who frequent FC for the education that made my budget fall back into line.

I and my husband used to share cannabis together when we were younger. We've been married a long time., we are both in our 50s. He has a job that requires sporadic drug tests so he doesn't partake anymore. He doesn't care these days that I use since now I use a vaporizer. He didn't like the smoke from the combustion.

I used to use cannabis strictly recreational. The last 10 years or so am also using it medicinally. Just received my certification for medical mmj last spring. It really helps me with everyday pain I deal with. Many pharmaceuticals I cannot tolerate but cannabis I can.

Looks like we're reading from the same book. Sometimes it was tough on my wife not being able to use and at others times I'd tease her good-naturedly. She's making up for lost time now :)

I smoked in the 70's, quitting in '79 largely due to it leading me to other drugs. (Damn black market). Got married 31 yrs. ago, told my wife all about my past. She never did drugs/alcohol in school and only occasionally drank since then. Well, because of medical issues, I came home with my mmj card over a year ago, showed her and she barely raised an eyebrow. She knew I supported legal mmj and after reading article after article on the benefits of my once favored recreational activity, I decided to pull the plug. Since then, she has tried it maybe 10 times. Actually, she kind of likes the feeling, but has an issue with being out of control. I told her not to feel bad. It's not necessarily for everyone. Thankfully, she accepts my use of it and all the paraphernalia I've purchased recently. I just regret not pulling the plug sooner!

My wife supports my medical use for my arthritis and such but she doesn't like cannabis, the way it smells, or anything else about it. She has never tried it and never will.
I'm in same boat there T-dub. I have to be so careful with the smell. Not that it angers her but more just out of mutual respect. I think witnessing the medical benefits of cannabis on me has opened her mind and eyes a lot. Nonetheless, while supportive she is not likely to start vaping her self anytime soon lol.

I love this site - I'm with @slick - it's heartwarming to hear everyone's stories.

My wife and I started dating 8 years ago - I hid smoking from her in the beginning. She was very against it (uneducated). She also has an extremely powerful sense of smell, so the smell of combusted herbs really disgusts her (she smokes cigarettes occasionally, but not a heavy smoker).

She warmed up to it over the years. Smoked a handful of times with me over that time, loathed and bitched about the smell of my bubbler (rarely cleaned it!), and would never let me smoke inside the house. But she grew to tolerate it, as long as it was outside.

On a whim I bought a portable vape (DV Ascent) back in February 2014 and fell in love with vaping. She knew I'd end up using it in the house (to which I promised - "nahhh, common, I'll never vape around you in the house ") Lol, of course now I never go outside, unless I'm joining her for a cigarette :D

When I first started to vape, I would vape anywhere in the house. Which my wife tolerated for a month or two, until she woke up one saturday morning to a haze of vapor lingering on the whole first floor -:cuss::rant: - yeah she was pretty pissed. So from that point forward I've pretty much taken over the basement and vape down there exclusively.

For the most part, I don't vape around her unless I have a window open or a candle going (she hates incense, unfortunately). She doesn't like how frequently I consume it, or how much I've spent on accessories these past few months. But she's tolerating it.

I have gotten her to try my vaporizers over the past few months a handful of times, and she doesn't like any of them, except my Davinci Ascent between 330F and 350F - she doesn't care for any higher temperature vaping because of the taste.

You Must Unlearn, What You Have Learned...
After an unreal day yesterday, I was left heartbroken. Still picking up the pieces of what happened. She couldn't handle my cannabis use anymore. Three years together a week ago and I thought for certain she would be the one. I told her, that her alcohol use and prescription diet pills are infinitely worse. She is going through anxiety issues with no plan and I told her to put down the two she was on and try cannabis and she exploded. She has never even tried it, and seems clueless about the ever changing opinions on cannabis. It came a a complete shock as a month before we laid out a plan to eventually get married, start a family, get a new house, etc. etc.. FML

Been there my friend, though it was about 9 years ago. My then fiance, who happened to be an attorney (which obviously entitled her to be an expert on everything :/ ), was happy to give me daily lectures about my cannabis use, while her and her cronies got drunk after work every night.

Eventually this led to a blow up about how I could affect her career yadda yadda yadda (mind you I smoked about once or twice a month at the time, and always out in our shed, like a refuge). Wedding plans off, I moved out of our condo a month later.

A few years later, I met my true soul mate who accepted me and my lifestyle fully. Got hitched, bought home, and living the life I should have, with a person that loves me for who I am.

I truly wish the same for you. I know it's hard right now. But take comfort in knowing that whatever is meant to be is what will be.

Mine Hate's everything about it.
She was a combusted for many years, but recently decided. It wasn't for her anymore to expensive. She figures I should do the same. Lol I'm disabled and gives me unmeasurable relief, she don't get it. I take about almost a 1000$ worth of pharmaceutical's a month. Which my inc. covers.
Some day Mj will be looked at like medicine until then we suffer.
Probably not going to happen!!!
It was fun while it lasted, the marriage that is.
Mj's not going anywhere.
She's always been there for me, and she always will be.

On her defense look at my Sig.
Thanks to a few awesome members and my addictive personality. I've acquired quite the collection.
Just over a year or year and half...
Maybe my next one won't mind.now that's funny next one. HaHaHa
Have a great day!!!

Sorry to hear that. Especially when it's unexpected. The bad part of it is because of a misunderstanding, not like she caught you in something. So hang in there. I love seeing your great comments and pictures and entertaining posts. FCLove.

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too
When I started dating my SO she was a massive clubber and cocaine user, not into weed at all.

Now (11 years down the line) we have dropped the hard drugs and she vapes a little with me at weekends or when she has 'womens' pains.

@SSVUN~YAH & @Melting Pot

That's fucked up, couldn't even bring myself to 'like' your posts. Their loss if you ask me anyway, everyone's been through the pain of a failed relationship and can empathise.

All I can offer is that in the long run it's probably for the best. The right person for you is out there somewhere.

Chin up, the pair of ya.

My wife has "put up with it" for years. We have been together 20 years, all of which I have been using using.

She actually doesn't mind cannabis use, she just wants it in moderation. This I understand and I could probably cut back some but damn I just love vaporizing!

I am a victim of VAS and just really love playing around with all of my toys as much as I like the medicinal qualities of how it makes me feel! Maybe I should check out the vaporizables section for alternatives?

@SSVUN~YAH so sorry brother! Hang in there! If it was meant to be maybe she will come around. If not then it's better to know now before you go deeper into marriage / kids.

You always have your FC family here to support you so don't forget about that!

@SSVUN~YAH, I feel for you.

One of the hardest things in the world to deal with.
I really hope that you both are able to collect yourselves, take a good look at things and at each other and work things out.
Hang in there!!

I just hit this thread for the first time. Really interesting reading about others' takes on those of us who partake in life's rich greenness. My wife has never even smoked a cigarette. She knows my two oldest friends, buddies who started getting high with me in high school, are still heads into their 50s. She's never cast even the slightest criticism at them over that. She knows I enjoyed when I was younger but also that I stopped well before ever meeting her. She doesn't know I started again a couple of years ago. Although she looked at me funny the other night when I was watching the cnn show on that couple with the herb store in Breckinridge. Or maybe I looked at her funny because I was vaped up and couldn't pretend I wasn't into the story more than a non-head would be. Anyway, the only way she ever would have found out I partake would have been by discovering the results of combustion, which she came close to doing on an occasion or two, as did my kids. But there's no longer any chance of that happening. She has never had the slightest inkling that I'm stoned. My son would notice. He'd say "see, there's that look again" when I'd break out in a stupid grin about something or other. But I learned how cover for myself in those cases and it doesn't happen anymore. I mean, behavior wise, it doesn't effect me other than making me more low key and less likely to hassle them over stupid stuff. I pretty much go about my business in the same way. It's not like my behavior completely changes or I become a useless stoned lump. Not at all. So I wonder why anyone would even give a crap (except for the smoke I guess) whether someone uses weed or not. When my kids are off on their own way and I don't have to worry about parenting, I will no longer hide things. I'll grow my own and I'll have a nice desktop vape that I can walk by and use whenever I please. And I'm hoping that my wife might decide to give it a try at that point, too!
