Please help an absolute newbie decide on first dry herb vape?

I leave mine out, and I have never had anyone ask about it. Unless they know what it is, there is no way of telling. The best (probably only) piece of functional art I have ever had.

That said though, the LSV is very well received by members here, and any vape you will use will be a great choice. Welcome!

The more I read about Heat Island (HI) the more I like.

I'm currently heavily thinking about the Solo, though... For some reason it seems simpler than the Silver Surfer, and it's 100 dollars cheaper. I'll probably order through PIU since they are an authorized dealer, and they price match. I just wish PIU had a larger selection.

my current thinking is to get the Solo for now, since it has the power of a plugin but is portable, and then later if I REALLY like vaping, i'll get a log-type.

I like the Silver Surfer alot, and that would be what'd I'd go to, but i'm not sure how it compares to the log ones, and people rave about the log ones. I know the SSV is "old" and the log-type are "new" and hype is hype, but still.

I'll just say that the E-Nano, Surfer, and Solo are my favorite vapes to use, so your head's in the game

I love my Solo because I can drag a bowl out with lots of draws for a looong time, and it still tastes inoffensive. On the other hand the Surfer gives me some of the thickest, tastiest vapor I've ever had- when you dial it in, it can be an amazing experience. Lastly, the Nano's best merit [to me] is its ability to have a tiny bowl, and get some pretty rich hits, the only drawback is the flavor is often gone very quickly (my friend may just set his kinda high..)

It really is a toss up, even between the SSV and Solo alone. You can draw the time of your session out pretty long with either, both give great, dense hits, and you could probably find either of them in the classifieds section.

Inhalater can also run on it's own battery, or powered, and I'm just waiting for the dual 14/18 watertool adapter to hit my mailbox on Monday. My biggest reason for liking it so much is that there are no real parts to break, and the only one you might loose won't be an issue if it goes away.

Log vapes are sorta similar - the big difference will be the heater. As someone mentioned the heat up times are different. I unplugged my HI last night, and it was ready in about 5 min after plugging in this am.

I've never used a Solo, but it gets rave reviews for a reason. You are on the right track - welcome to the wide world of vape collecting

I've never used a Solo either, but I've heard more than a few members refer to them as a "portable log style vape", and as @killick said above;

It doesn't really compare to logs. Logs excel at efficiency. Great for us "grazers". I can get to where I want to be, then hit it as needed to maintain that level. Small loads so by the time the flavor is gone, the load is spent. I can load and finish a stem in under 2 minutes.

The SS/DBV/LSV excels at monster hits. Great for those that are looking to go 0-100 quickly.

That's not to say that logs won't give monster hits (here and here), or that the SSV/DBV/LSV can't be efficient (see Tweaks mod here, there are some pics, but I lost the link).

Log, 7th Floor, Solo, either way you go, it's going to be the right way. Many members here have all three of those in their rotation. Once you get the first one, you can decide what you like/don't like and future decisions won't be so difficult. The only thing you have to worry about is the dreaded VAS.
