gotcha:nod: it seems to be working fine without it for the time being. will probably pick up an extra o ring set in the future though

noticed one of my top fins is cracked. nbd though just a little annoying. i dont think i would have noticed if it wasnt just mentioned a few pages back :bang:

You notice any differences about the performance without the o ring? I'm wondering what that o ring is even for?

So now my Crafty is taking around 6 hours to charge fully.

:|

Looks like its going to be winging its way back to S&B with a nice letter for Nicole.

Wtf how is that even possible ? Damn these vapes have so many issues thank god for warranty. How long is the warranty even? I wonder what's GONNA happen if something breaks after warranty runs out. Probably expensive

Perhaps someone on the site can post a video, I can't. It can be a bitch, I just try to make sure I can "roll" the o ring down as low as I can go, so when pushed up into the top piece, it doesn't get torn or damaged.

I would recommend that everyone with a Mighty/Crafty purchase the "Wear and Tear" set and the extra O rings set, you are going to need them. Even if you have not torn them, they wear out, and I have already spent too many minutes crawling on the floor searching for an O ring that popped out of my hand when cleaning.:)

Still even with the extra maintenance, I love the Mighty

Wait so that notch that I put the o ring in is meant for the clip not the o ring? So the o ring is supposed to go under the notch? Where exactly though

I did notice a difference after I tried it without. It definitely works better with it in. My philosophy is if S&B designed it with O rings than they should be in there.

here is a video on how to clean the cooling chamber and screen replacement.

Does anyone know what kind of q tips those black ones are he uses in the video ? They look very sturdy for cleaning the crafty. Regular q tips suck for cleaning it

Weird, I wonder what difference something like that can make. Maybe it allows air to escape and it takes away from the seal

Exactly what I experienced. The clouds were also less dense!

Instead of Q Tips, try bits of paper towel soaked in ISO wrapped around the tip of a screwdriver, works great! See here: http://www.vape-nation.com/how-to-clean-mighty/

"A tiny folded paper towel and screw driver were the key! Using this home-made tool I was able to get a much stronger stick than a q-tip without all the messy cotton pieces getting stuck to all the THC resin. Just wet the towel with alcohol first and use a twisting motion, this makes it easy in the corners and wells of the mouthpiece innards."

He called them precision q tips which you can get in most convince stores :)

I like to soak the disassembled cooling unit in everclear 190 proof for about an hour, then i use the included brush to get all the oil off of the internals. I then let that everclear oil evaporate until all is left is reclaim. The parts are left to air dry then reassembled. After drying the cooling unit is completely clean, as is the brush.

Its a fast and easy process. Keep your manual nearby if its your first time.

I use regular qtips soaked in everclear to clean the oven sides and collar.

Hey guys, I've been doing a little testing and I figured I would share my findings with you.
I have been using the EVO ELB cap to put my herb in to keep the inside chamber clean for some time now. I know this has already been posted, but I have been testing which works better. The ELB cap or the minivap small basket.
As you can see the minivap basket is wide and short while the ELB cap is long and skinny.

After trying each basket separately for a couple weeks.

I have come to find I feel personally the minivap basket does a better job than the ELB. They both fit perfectly in the crafty. My thoughts were to keep the chamber as clean as possible and to get more convection and less conduction.

Filling the basket and having it hang in the Craftys chamber seems to increase the convection aspect of the Crafty dramatically.
Perfect fit.

Not only do I feel i notice an increase in taste and vapor, but the unit uses less material, stays perfectly clean.

I had also tried using the oil pad, and the coarse & fine screen in the cooling chamber.
I know these topics have been touched on but here are my results.

Oil pad: more draw restriction but not by much. The cooling chamber remains free of debris but the same amount of glaze builds up in the cooling chamber.

Coarse screen: Best draw but a bit warmer. Larger particulates and same glaze in the cooling chamber.

Fine screen: Seems cooler, I'm sure not by much. Low draw restriction, minute particles and glaze in the cooling chamber.

When cleaning, I drop the entire cooling chamber into ISO for about a half an hour before taking it apart. This allows for the chamber to come apart easier without fear of tearing the oval O-ring. Then I soak each piece separated for another 30-40 minutes. This seems to work best for me.

I find I get the absolute best results and enjoyment when using a fine screen in the cooling chamber and a minivap basket in the heating chamber.
These are my opinions of course but I figured I would share my final results with everyone.
I am in the process of modifying an ELB also.
I hope this information is useful to someone.

I managed to pop it out ok by poking through the mouthpiece as you mention. My problem was re-seating the new screen. I should've tried this with a freshly cleaned CU as it's probably the buildup that is causing me to :bang: trying to seat a fresh screen. I'm going to clean it now and try it without dealing with the gunk.

:peace:
I'm happy to report that after cleaning my CU and doming the screen I was able to seat the finer mesh successfully! It was still kinda tricky with my shaky hands and poor eyesight, but I managed somehow. :myday:

@Rrose Selavy I am using the small minivap baskets.

@Stu That's awesome. That's one thing I'm trying to avoid having to do by keeping the chamber as clean as possible.
I watched Vape Critics video and it was a mess!
Hey doc, I had some brand new extreme q baskets and after I saw what u did I tried em, unfortunately it interferes a little with closing the unit, does yours close totally unhindered?

Appreciate the tip. Yea, my mighty can get quite dirty and hard to clean when cold. I always use a soft toothbrush and run it under warm water and then everything comes off. I must try the mv baskets to try to keep the unit clean. I guess the good thing about vas is that you can experiment with different parts with different vaporizers and find some good matches.

But I'll let the experts like vape dr, mrweed, and vape critic do the innovating (because of their knowledge and experience) and I'll follow their advice. VAS won again and I have the haze in my cart, waiting to pull the trigger.

Hello all! I come to you from the Pinnacle Pro forums, where I'm not that happy with the PP of late... It's not dead yet but looking at what's new and the Vapefiend himself recommended the Crafty.

Couple of questions that are probably answered somewhere in this sprawling thread:

1) any way to make it connect glass-on-glass to our Pinnacle water tube? Sure I've seen someone attach something direct to the cooker, i.e. with that top piece disconnected

2) can you program both the standard and the boost temp individually via the app? Or is the boost temp always a set increase over whatever the standard is set to?

3) what's cleaning the top piece, particularly that narrow-looking mouthpiece like? Our narrow pinnacle pro mouthpiece was sticky after a couple of days, and too narrow to clean easily.

4) i see people talking about using baskets from other devices, or getting their own replacement gauzes of a finer gauge. Is it possible to purchase extra little parts like this that will fit, on ebay or wherever?

  1. A small piece of vapor tubing should suffice to connect your cooling unit into the PNWT. You can even get a glass adapter like I use for 18mm. If you want glass all the way with no cooling unit you will have to make one.
  2. No. The boost temp is always a + function from the main set temp.
  3. Cleaning the cooling unit is easy. Just take apart and soak in ISO and rinse.
  4. IMHO this vape does not need to be modified. If you have ELBs or MiniVap parts lying around have fun but to purchase those you will have to visit their respective manufacturers.

No. The boost temp is always a + function from the main set temp.
Since you can program how big of a jump you want your boost temp to be, technically you can program both temps via the app. For example, I have my set temp at 190C and my boost is set to 20C giving me a boost temp of 210C. Mix and match to find your preferred settings.

Thanks for clarifying!

I guess my only questions are about the difference over the Mighty then, because one of them is getting bought! ;)

5) how much of a limitation do you find only having two temp settings without gaffing with an app? On the Pinnacle Pro we only use two settings anyway, at least on the Crafty I could set what they are precisely.
6) how annoying/not-annoying is the one-minute shut off really, and as a bonus question for an extra 5 points, how effective is the draw-detection at stopping the auto-shut off?
7) I've read back about 10-15 pages and seen talk of an error that starts happening; people are quoting their runtime to see who can last longest. That worth worrying about? How long do they support their battery for, is it the same two years?
8) considering we don't actually ever take our pinnacle pro out the house, but do like its portability, in our shoes would you go for the one with the buttons and the double batteries, or the smaller, lighter one with the handier USB charger?

5) I only use 2 temps mostly, 375*F and 410*F (in vitro) but Mighty is more suited for changing temps. I wish it had the "double button press" preset like Crafty does though.

6) The auto-shutoff has been perfect for me but it depends on your draw/lung power. Through my testing it appears that you must drop the temp by over 4*F to avoid the auto shutoff. How you do this in your allotted time is up to you but this thing is made to rip.

7) Don't worry, be happy :) Yes, 2 years.

8) Mighty all the way . . . The extra power and more robust case are 2 good reasons also the larger cooling unit gives a slightly better hit imho. The 12 volt is actually nice, I am embracing a plethora of portable power solutions. With 2 batteries Mighty has a larger performance "window" than Crafty. Mighty is great for travel as well. Extended family or hotels it's peffect.
