Underdog Log Vapes

Hey all, so I'm definitely thinking about picking up a VVPS; can anyone recommend me a cheap one I could pick up at like Walmart? Also, remember seeing that a FC member actually designed his own VVPS, with these pretty slick looking lights and clear body, I tried finding them again on here but haven't had much luck.

Speaking of, about the VVPS, I need a DC to DC one correct? And the Wallwart that came with the UD is a DC Power Supply? I only ask because I remembered reading somewhere not to use DC/AC with the Dog, and in my brief search online, I found a lot of DC to AC Power Supplies at Walmart.

Love this thing, very much my daily driver and I'm taking rips throughout the day/evening. My only qualm is that I can't really get a session out of it without having to pause for a while, I can get 2-3 massive tokes out my bubbler, the weed will not even look brown, just slightly toasted. No where near dark enough to throw in my jar. After these hits though, my UD is kind of cool and I have to sit and wait for 5-10 minutes as it heats itself back up.

Its a more defined problem while using water, I really only need a minute or two of wait time while using the stem. But I felt waiting was certainly needed to get the temp back up; I took my Dog up to camp for the New Year and being a good sport packed everyone their own stem and passed the dog around the table. I could really only get through like 2 stems being directly drawing from it without having to wait for a few minutes.

So that's basically why I want the VVPS, would be nice to just crank it up a bit before I start my session, finish an entire stem with minimal downtime, and then lower the temp to keep it cooler. Its not really like the 5-10 minutes is awful, just more of an inconvenience, I've been doing a lot of mid session pooping and dish washing to burn the time :p

Oh btw, everyone at camp thought the Underdog was like the sickest and sleekest little machine they ever saw. They aren't really familiar with Log Vapes, but everyone loved it and it was getting rave reviews for how high we were getting. My compadre actually greened out at like 6 o clock for an hour or so after he did his stem  this is a daily smoker, so the line was drawn pretty early that you gotta respect the dog if you want him to love you :D Overall it was a killer time.

I wish! Unfortunately, that ain't gonna happen. Our application is unique enough that the only ones I am aware of are the ones produced by members of this forum.

Hey HWS- Here are two that customers are using successfully (you'll need a tattoo VVPS cord to go with the tattoo one, or a lab style cord for the TekPower): Cheap Ebay VVPS and slightly less cheap TekPower on Amazon.

The Underdog can use DC or AC power. It was the VVPS we were making that used DC input only from a wall wart.

Oh, and ETA: Of course, the members here making the VVPS units are Centizen and Voltage Keeper.

Appreciate it, if any if you VVPS manufacturers see this, shoot me a PM :)

Are there really no other usages for one other than to max out our dogs? Kinda awesome the science that goes on here.

Edit: Gracias Underdogette :)

Coincidentally, I just got home from work and my Lotus arrived with the J-Hook/WPA. Was kinda up in the air about the J-Hook, only really got it because of the package and figured I could resell it to a friend for a few bucks....not happening :D

It works phenomenally with the UD. My heat problems aren't an issue, because its not a big device I'm not really chiefing on it long enough to kill the temp. Throw a little water in the Hook and I got a nice big water filtered stem essentially, got real big rips, browned my bud better then anything else I used the UD with so far actually.

Still, thank you all for the help with the VVPS, gonna pick one up in a month or two from someone on FC as I would rather support local business :D will have to do some research though. Cheers!

So I received my dog two days ago, and of course it excels at everything I could have hoped it would. Ive never been a water/glass guy because of the extra clutter when Im just trying to get in a quick session, but eventually I realized the only time I would be using it is at home when Im not in a hurry. So I decided why not go ahead and get a piece for it after pairing my dog with a friends bong and absolutely falling in love with the whole idea.

So my question to you guys is, what piece from a good seller on dhgate would you guys recommend for a UD? The UD will most likely be the only vape I'll be using water for, so I wanted to find a piece with a 14mm joint just for simplicity, however I found most of the glass sunshinestore sells to be 18mm. What have you guys found to be a great piece for your UD?

Any and all thoughts greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

If you wanna spend $100 I loved the VaporBrothers Hydrator with my dog. Simple and good quality. Made in the USA

I had forgotten about the cheap ebay vvps. I had that at first and it works. The only problems are you have to come up with your own cord and the dial is very tight, as in it can be hard to get the exact voltage you want because just a little bit of turn in the dial yields a lot of change in the voltage. After I got one of the ones from our members I never wanted to go back to the ebay one.

So you attach the direct draw glass stem to your 14mm j-hook? That's pretty smart! Seems like it'd be a bit precarious though?

Here's what I'm planning on doing: buying this stem (make sure you pick the 18mm one!) and then just buying an 18mm piece on sunshine. Probably this one, to be precise.

Hey UDs- We're contemplating whether or not to switch our Direct Draw stems to a thicker walled glass. A thicker walled stem would be heavier, but more durable.

What do you guys think? Should we stick with the same glass, or move to thicker walled glass?

We need to order more glass this week, so please chime in quickly if you have an opinion on the subject.

:)

I personally always prefer thicker walled glass - takes a bit longer to saturate with heat, but holds the heat longer in the end - ultimately more durable, and a better value for me.:2c::2c::peace:

Never broke a stem. Seems fine to me as is. Longer to heat. Hot longer. Sounds less desirable to me.
Mine sits on table 24/7. Daily usage. What problem are you fixing?

Just me, but I'm hardly ever in a rush when walking my Dogs ...so a slightly longer (seconds only) heat up time and longer heat retention (stem conduction/heat radiance) really work nicely for me! Never busted a thin-walled stem but it will eventually happen:-) My UnderDogs would really wag my tail even more with thicker glass stems!!!

just got a package with some glass, needed a new straw for my da vinci so decided I could just as well add some cheap glass to my order.
this bubbler is smaller as I expected but actually exactly what I needed:
pXRHV0p.jpg

have already been trying it out, it works great

also another pic I made yesterday or the day before that(with flash), just after applying some underbutter, to show how my dog is still kicking ass after all this time. as you can see she has darkened quite a bit, the wood is osage orange. dave had already told me when I got it that osage orange darkens over time, and I really like how it changed it's look over time.

@prepare2deleuze it is kind of precarious, requires a hand on the dog and a hand on the hook, but I need a hand on the hook anyways to stop water from spilling...definitely used more when I'm just lounging watching TV and don't need to do much.

That Osage Orange looks real slick, did you have your dog hot when you applied the UB
? I've no experience with woodwork, and am meaning to buff mine up with it, figured putting it on while hot would help it absorb but idk really.

In regards to thicker DD stems, I personally never ever use my DD stem as it makes my lips too hot and it feels real uncomfortable, I reckon a thicker glass would solve that issue so I'd say go for it, but I really only use my GonG stem, partially because the thicker mouthpiece doesn't make my lips feel weird, and partially cause I'm only trying to get one stem REAL dirty for cocoa sometime.

I only have a GonG (wet and dry), and haven't ever had any concerns. The glass is plenty durable. If the mouth end of the DD stems gets pretty warm though, I could see the need.

I'm fine w/ the thickness of my GonGs, but there's nothing wrong w/ a little change too

When I ordered my Dog I chose 2 glass, 1 silicone and 1 14mm ground glass. Never had a connector for the 14mm so it sat. I use 3 other stems all the time. Today I had the bright idea of using my self sealing suck hole, my:
Mystery Organic Universal Tactile Holder or mouth as it is known and I now have a full complement of useful stems and a chagrined expression on my face.

That doesn't sounds too bad - I might try that. I only ask because I have a j-hook at home because I often attach it to an ash catcher to create a makeshift water tool.

Edit: Does the free shipping voucher apply each time we order or is it intended for one use?
