Discontinued The Herbalizer

Herbie's specs from their website:

The Herbalizer heats your favorite herbs and oils to within +/- 5°F (+/- 3°C), instantly.

Good enough for me....

Me too, but the controversy is that the Chief Technology Officer of Herbalizer( Bob I think?), now states that "Herbie is purposely calibrated to be about 10 degrees lower than the display temperature". So maybe over time they decided to calibrate lower to absolutely prevent any possibility of combustion. IDK... Just a possibility.

Has anybody combusted with the Herbie? I have never come close and also wonder what the variances are between machines?

I've never come close. At least my ABV would lead me to believe I haven't.

Herbie's readout display is calibrated to show a few degrees higher than the units production.
It also seems to me that the +-5° mentioned in their specs is the expected margin of error between the actual temp and the temp on the readout. But the 10° offset mentioned by the CTO is intended variance in the calibration - apparently for safety reasons.

Getting that 10° back would be on my wish list. It might make the difference between getting faster clouds with concentrates, as opposed to what needs to be done now. I need to set to 445°, wait for the first fan cycle to finish, and then start the concentrate session. At that point, it seems it is at its hottest temp. By the third draw, clouds are coming... at which point I am half baked. Only 'half' because by then I cant feel the lower half of my body

I agree with with stickstones. I am getting perfect ABV with full extraction with every use. I've taken the ABV from the herbie and loaded it into 5 of my vapes and nothing was available, nada!!!!!!!

I don't get full extraction from my Herbalizer unit at max temp. Sent back to Herbalizer 2 weeks ago, calibration verified (Thanks Herbalizer company!), performance the same. I revape in a modded EQ and am able to take my Herbalized product and still extract vapor. Much darker ABV results too.

So what's this mean to me? Maybe my Herbie is running normally and other's are running hotter? Maybe a difference in Herbs, moisture content, local climate, my draw technique, other? Who knows?

In response to being able to combust using Herbie, not in mine... no matter how long I've hit a product at max temp... (I don't do bags, so maybe due to max session - overloading bowls - and fan use?)

Don't get me wrong, just chiming in on the present discussion topic. I love my herbie for what she does best... quick/precise temps.... I get just what I need during the daytime... nothing more... but for evenings and higher temp extraction, I will use a different vaporizer. :peace:

I used to get immediate clouds with concentrates and that was thru glass. That is not possible for me anymore.

I also tried a bag with flowers last nite and my ABV was darker than it's been getting in whip mode but it seemed the vapor density in the bag was less than normal.

edit: Also I have scorched my material almost black before using whip mode and fan assist with the temp at max (my buddy kept trying to hit it) but now it comes nowhere close, even in bag mode.

did Herbalizer charge you any $ for this calibration?

I think if the machine needs to be calibrated and it's still under warranty they won't charge you. They are very good with handling things like this from my experience.

No charge. (I did have side by side comparison tests with another herbie that ran hotter than mine by quite a bit... and provided them my test parameters and findings.)

I have access to four different Herbalizers. One has been sent back for running cool. It was returned with the same performance. Someday I will line em all up and do a controlled experiment.

Awesome! I look forward to your testing results!!!! (I still think my unit is running cooler).

I think the key will be to use the same testing parameters on each unit and compare the results of the units per test device measured readings, ignoring the Herbie's LCD Temp value.

Thanks!

Good Morning, friends! I will take this time to share my Macgyver'd herbie bags. I used a 14mm 90 degree male to female adapter. The female end goes in the squeeze valve. The bag goes around the male end and is held in place with a piece of silicone tubing I cut. They are vapor bros bags.

Since the bags don't stand up I figured it would be better for them to fill horizontally. I keep my herbie on a chair most of the time, so the bag just kinda rests on my leg as it fills up Lol.

Also, Herbalizer offered to look at my unit under warranty.

edit: this bag setup is working flawlessly with no leaks :)

What are you using to tie the bags to the glass?

The magnetic ring on the bottom of my bowl has fallen off?

I called and left a voice mail but am weary of using the device without it as I'm fearful of burning through the plastic.

Not sure how this ring was bonded to the white plastic bowl undercarriage but it has broken loose on 1 of my 2 bowls.

Advice?

I would wait to hear what they say before you use it and cause any damage

The same thing happened to me and I use the bowl in whip mode like you would use an SSV or DBV. Works pretty well, actually. I never experienced any burning plastic but I would make sure you get off any excess epoxy.

I sent Herbalizer an email about it and they sent me a new bowl bottom for free. I believe they said it's caused by improper curing of the epoxy.

Well, it's been one year since I received my unit. I have no regrets. This is still the best vaporizer I've ever used and I don't see a better option out there for my personal needs.

I use my Herbalizer every night and the only issues I've ever encountered are as follows:

(1) The software glitch where the unit will shoot up to max temp and stay there until I unplug and plug back in. This has happened maybe 10-15 times total and seems to happen less and less frequently as time passes. I can't remember the last time it happened.

(2) A few months after I received the unit, the magnetic ring that the bowl sits on came loose and was shifting around, which caused the bowl to wobble a bit. Didn't impact functionality, but I drove to the Herbalizer office one day and Bob fixed it for me. Not a big deal.

Other than that, my Herbalizer has performed flawlessly. I seem to have a properly calibrated unit as well (one of the first 50). I have to say that this device really changed the way I vape and the way I think about vaping. It was instrumental in my gradual transition to more of a medical user of cannabis. I still vape for recreation, but the Herbalizer showed me that vaping MMJ can be a very effective tool in managing certain medical conditions. Being able to medicate so quickly and efficiently is a real treat. It is incredibly easy to use and incredibly easy to maintain. Bravo.

While I do love the Herbalizer, it is not without its flaws. Personally, I think the Company really dropped the ball with the bag function. I never use them. The valves that shipped with the unit were simply unacceptable for a $729 device. Maybe they're better now, but I haven't seen much evidence in this thread to support that. They never seem to be in stock on the website anyways. If you're considering the Herbalizer for the bags specifically, look elsewhere (Volcano).

Whatever, I'm fine with using the unit exclusively as a whip device with the cheaper tubing I buy from Amazon. The OEM accessories are mostly overpriced IMO.

One last thing, I never use the aromatherapy function anymore. I used it in the beginning, but it honestly just doesn't work that well. Kind of a disappointment, but then again, I didn't buy this thing for aromatherapy. I'm pretty sure Josh already stated he feels the same.

Just wanted to spend a few minutes reflecting on this vape. How do the rest of you early adopters feel a year in?

Almost there...

Also one of the first 50!
Herbalizer is still one of my top vapes!
Had the first issue you had and nothing else!
She just pumps out vapour and medicates effectively!
My bags work perfectly and do not leak or pop off the bowl.
Bags are my go to for awesome concentrate flavours!

Don't use the aromatherapy function at all...
A few times in the beginning but the novelty soon wears off as it does not really function that well at all.

Apart from that, still a very happy camper!
Whip, bags, WT - All so easy to use and connect to!
