Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

Has anyone measured the temp. at different dials with a heat gun? I tried to search it but couldn't find any information.

Fwiw I have 2 posts in the previous Cloud threads taking a range of IR readings. As @Roth posted, it's not easy. (I also took readings on the outer shell; those are no longer applicable with the redesigned EVO.)

Frankly, I don't think the data is particularly relevant. The physics are altogether different in a Cloud, with the magic happening below the joint down in the bamboo plus inside the ELB. Furthermore, IMO temp readings on a vape at/near the bowl are typically at best only a reference point because of other factors which affect performance like airflow and method/quality of heat exposure, etc. My technical background (and previous vapes) had me obsessing over this for a while until I understood better how these devices work. If what you're looking for is exceptional complete uniform extraction, with the EVO all you need to learn is where on the dial your particular technique (glass, draw, load, etc.) delivers the optimum performance for you.

EDIT:

On a different note, just noticed that VXL is offering a "Limited Quantity Re-Release of the SSFG Hydraline." This is my favorite HT. It performs beautifully, and allows adding ice with good protection against overflow to the joint. A bit pricey, but IME worth it in the long run. :2c:

Just got off the phone with the design team and we are hoping sometime in the next 12 months or so. I am beyond excited about what we discussed as we were really thinking out of the box about how to change the portable vapor experience altogether.

Yes! I am VERY excited about this! @stonemonkey55 ;)

G'day peeps,

Got my IGG international EVO in March, love it and its still working but it's developed a rattle in the last month, something is loose and striking the internal glass, doesn't sound violent enough yet to break anything but the temps do seem a tad higher, is it on its way out? Not sure its bad enough to send for repair yet (considering the cost of sending from Oz), or if I can attempt a fix myself?

Wow an int igg working on 240v/50hz, you lucky. Do you leave it on for extended periods at all or just turn it on and off as necessary? Has it ever overheated and got so hot the glass glows/melts?

I don't know if your aware or not about the international release failures and that most of us are still waiting for a working int igg evo. If you haven't seen this thread its worth a read. Its the last half of the thread you want to focus on in regards to the int igg issues.

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-cloud-evo-anticipation-thread.10875/page-80

They will be sending us all new updated evos so if your one of the lucky few with one still working you'll be getting a new one some day any way. Mine always had a rattle. A good cheap rattle. Maybe worth it to send in or maybe worth it to crack open yourself up to you?

Lucky lucky you :)

edit: and yeah I'd keep an eye on it in use ;)

I turn it on/off as needed, usually give it 5-10 minutes to warm up then another 5 minutes while using it. I hit a half packed ELB 3 to 6 times a day for (ahem) spasm relief from a spinal injury, its never overheated as far as I know.

And yeah I only read about the int dramas when VXL sent an email a month ago saying they were sending a replacement, looks like the current Evo will be a back up soon anyway. BTW thanks VXL .

Nice to see another INTL EVO still alive out there. My EVO has overheated a dozen times already, yet it is still working.
I'm slowly starting to think that it's probably not me being so lucky to spot out an overheat seconds after it happens.
I'm actually leaving it on unattended most of the time, so it's very improbably that every overheat that happened was stoppend seconds after that before any serious damage.
Maybe my heater is just not THAT powerful.
I've seen bamboos glowing WHITE hot, melting, smoking a nd cracking from these overheats. Yet the worst that happened to me was a completely orange bamboo.
Yes, my bamboo is slightly deformed and slightly loose withing the grip of the heater. And the superplastic enclosure looks slightly molten around the joint, but everything is still working.
Never did my EVO got as hot as some reports here. And I doubt it's because I'm amazingly attentive.

I got a couple of the new concentrate bowls on the way. I do have some good shatter, but i also have an abundance of really good full melt bubble hash too. Anyone try the new bowl with bubble or even dry sift? Looking for feedback. Thanks

So I posted a bit ago with some basic questions, but I think I may have either lost track of it or it got deleted due to unrelated questions.

First, if/when I jump on this device, I was curious how to decide which HT to get? I mean, their basic rating system makes it ok, but a few seem pretty similar, did anyone feel there was a best/worst spectrum for those?

Same for the other oil accesories, particularly those viles and the difference between the plain glass and the harder one?

Lastly, since this thing is kind of expensive, I was hoping to grab it when it's on sale. I know there was a really good massdrop last summer (honestly, I dont really understand how massdrop works, given there has been more than enough requests for another deal on this, over multiple random pages for this item on there?), but I was curious if anyone was aware of something else like that on the horizon?

well I traded my evo and swagger barrel hydratube for a volcano. Sad to see the vapexhale go but I could not get over the extremely long heat up time along with half hour auto shut off. I just dont understand why they wouldnt put it at 1 hour and not a half an hour. There were too many times I tried to hit the vape and it was stone cold and had to wait another 15 minutes for it to heat up again. So long vapexhale community, it was an awesome ride but Im happy to say Im moving on to the volcano from now on :) happy vaping

That's weird because the shutoff on mine is one hour and I think that is the standard. I've never heard of a thirty minute timer for this vape. That would drive me crazy.

And how long did it take to warm up? Mine takes about four or five minutes to get to max temp, which is normal for a decent desktop vape. Now my old Cloud took longer, but my Evo is pretty darn quick!

Mine is also an hour. It does drive me insane as I wish I could always have it on instead of having it warm up for 20 min before i Use it

If you crank the cloud to 1 or 1:30 it is at a good temp and ready to use much much quicker than 15 or 20 mins IMO. Its ready to go within a minute of turning green. After that first quick bowl ill dial back to 12 or less. And i keep the Evo at around 1030 or 11 after the 20 minutes.

My VXC is a 1 hour shut off too. IMO as a VXC and volcano owner both I will go from cold vape to actually hitting vapor in a similar time frame for both vaporizers. I do not forsee the trade to the Volcano to decrease the time you would go from cold vape to vapor to the lips. If anything, i see a chance of increasing that time.

I'm pretty sure my Evo has a 30 minute auto shutoff, too. It heats up faster than my digital Volcano, though.

*edit: Wrong. Longer than 30 min.

I always use my Evo at 1-2 range. Just personally I feel like it takes a while to heat up enough for my liking.

Have you tried cranking to 4 to 6 and hitting right away? Then dial back? That concept works perfectly for me on lower temps

Well SM I'm certainly glad to hear you are going for the portable. There is nothing like the exhale but I consider my solo like a mini version of the exhale and it isn't tied to a plug. It's a pretty good backup Vape at a much cheaper price. But the exhale is still the best beast and I'm sure anything you design will be awesome. The whole point of the exhale is to attach a water tool to it and many use the solo in this way. The new Azier Air is the size of the pax but can also attach to water tool. So good luck and get this going because the race is already on

I am a fan of the solo also, and im pretty sure SM owns one too, or at least did a few years back. I can see your mini VXC comparison, and it certainly is a good compliment and still one of the best portables on the market IMO
