Something weird just happened. I'm on about the 3rd session after fully charging the battery. I just put it on green and it was heating up, when it should of been done heating up it started doing a weird double blink. then a rapid triple blink.

I thought the battery was dying but it kept feeling hotter so I hit it and it was way too hot for green, I think it might have combusted but I'm at work so I didn't have time to check. Kind of scary, I hope it's not melting itself right now. :ugh:

I'm using arizer's batteries and I've always charged through the unit.

Edit: Well it didn't melt but it did combust a few pieces of my herb. I could tell by the taste too.

Now I have tried both my batteries and neither works. It flashes like normal while heating up but when it reaches temp it starts rapidly flashing in sporadic patterns..

Nobody has had this happen or is slightly concerned it could happen to them?

I just woke up and turned it on and it appears to be working but I haven't used it yet. last night it was really screwy.

Its concerning because the heat cutoff malfunctioned and it overheated and combusted.

You are the only person that has posted that problem with their Air. In fact I haven't heard of a faulty unit yet? That's really odd, that never happens around here.;)

This is the only faulty unit I've heard of so far, they seem to be holding up so far. I'm glad jumping on the Black Friday sale and being an early adopter has worked out with the Air!

Just to follow up. I have used my air for a few sessions since it malfunctioned last night.

It seems to be working normally.

My only user-related suspicion is that it may have had something to do with leaving it in my car outside during night shift (which I do often). Last night it may have gotten down to 45F or 40F but it was working most of the night. The warnings that come with the air say to avoid exposing the unit to "extreme temperatures" but there are no specifics.

Hey guys.
So my friend arrived in India yesterday with my new Black AA..

This is much smaller than what it seems in pictures.. It's my first vape.. I love the size of this unit..

I have been using ecig mods for the past 2 years.. To keep off those dirty cigarettes..
But when it comes to pot, I smoke joints or chillums or water bongs..

So now the air.. :)

been following this thread and trying to pick up as much knowledge as I can..

I have wanted to buy a vape for the past maybe two years and read up enough on fuckcombustion , researching different models.. The AA finally ticked the right boxes..

I ordered this on the vaporizers.ca along with the black silicon cover.. And filters used for the solo.. + an extra battery .. The ones sold by arizer..

Long story short.. The weed here in India is quite different than the stuff you guys are Vaping..

Best i could explain it as.. It's a bit more dry, a bit brown / golden in color..

I have used about 6 -7 sessions since I got the package last night.. After a full charge etc etc..

I love the flavour coming through, but after trying tons of different stuff.. Fine grinding the stash / not a super fine grind / using the mesh filter / not using the mesh filter.. Etc..

The airflow is just so minimal.. And the very lil VISIBLE vapour that I do manage, is only possible with me pulling real slow and real long long drags..

From whatever I have seen on videos for the AA on YouTube.. It doesn't look like they need to put so much effort in each drag.. Plus the vapour is much more dense and thicker ..

It could just be a user error from my end.. Or maybe the weed here isn't suitable ??

Sorry guys, completely new to this..
Any suggestions would be really appreciated..

Since my first session , I do atleast manage the very little vapour production now.. But it's a long way from everything I have read or seen yet..

try lifting the stem a mm or so up when it sits all the way down. You may be packing too tight? Vapor comes from the resins being vaporized, if there is more resin in your cannabis then there is more vapor potential. Can you try maybe some hash mixed with it? Another type of flower?

@al bundy knew somebody would have noticed it, sooner, or later.

It's even less than the BF sale out of Arizer, but when the post is factored in, it's a close second, by a bux, or two.

Nice heater. Get your gat, Batman!

Yes, could try hash..
Adding really small pieces of the cream you get in India / manali.. ?

Is it better to use the mesh filters? Seems to make the draw more difficult than it already is..

I personally don't use a screen. I also don't pack my herb, keep your product loose in the bowl, and a coarse grind. That way you won't get herb in the air path. I don't have a problem with the feel of the draw.

EDIT
@Sinclue That's a problem if we don't know who's an authorized vendor? I hope we get that mystery solved.

I go as hot as green but not any hotter. I start low and work my way up. If I'm not getting enough vapor I go higher. If my vapor is too harsh I go down in temp.

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right
Be cautious buying on eBay. If something happens and the unit stops working you want to be able to return it. If it's not an authorized vendor you can't use your warranty. It's buyer beware.

Problem seems to be that Arizer seems reluctant to tell you who is authorized. I asked them (re the Air) over a week ago, and also on two previous occasions, and never got a response. So how can you know? I can't find anything on their websites about who is or isn't.

What temp settings are you using and how are you packing the bowl? What works for me is med. grind (still thick and coarse) or you can break apart with your hands and pack it lightly. both methods got me big clouds with the slow draw on green setting. Also I don't use a screen.

Have started packing it light now.. It wasn't really packed too tight last night, but yes a bit maybe..

There is almost no vapour on blue temp

and like 2-5% vapour (in comparison to videos on ytube) maybe on the white temp..

Green is where I figure I need to start direct, maybe it's the kind of weed..
But Green starts to give me some visible vapour.. 20-25% of what I would expect

I am gonna keep playing more and crack this, I want big clouds :\

I had the same problem. You'll get used to it, I couldn't get good clouds at first and I was a little frustrated but after a week or so I got the feel for packing and draw speed.

I pack it pretty loose, just enough to stay put.

Good point, and not confined to Arizer or Air I think?

In this case (Air) I think it's entirely possible nobody is an authorized distributor yet? I would expect a main line Canadian outfit like Planet Vape to be first in line???

I'd suggest you start out mid range (step 3, whatever color that is.....) or even higher. Temperature steps are a refinement, you need to get some experience. Even top whack won't hurt although it might be a bit harsh.

I suggest 'big clouds' is the wrong goal here. Don't let blazing experiences cloud the issue here. Isn't your real goal effective extraction of THC......no matter wha that might look like? Focus on effects, not visuals.

Herb quality has a lot to do with it. The stem doesn't hold much, would you normally 'get off' on that amount in a chillum? The vape will extract what's there, and leave you with different colored herb, about 2/3 the original weight. It should deliver that to you. However, since it comes without the normal combustion junk your brain might not be recognizing it, strange as that sounds. Forget looking for the clues (like 'big clouds') from before, focus on getting the herb to change color and texture and giving up it's THC? The rest will follow.

Anyway, is a stem load enough bud to do the job by combustion?

I kind of get the picture now.. So after tinkering around more and some cleaning.. I figured the air hole of the plastic tip from the inside side was a bit blocked with extremely fine grained herb..

I need to use a filter as whatever I tried, the weed being dry.. lands up getting quite fine.. Checking various videos and some reading on the solo thread..

I however agree and understand the high / effect of Vaping THC is gonna be very different than smoking a chillum or joint.. It doesn't sound strange at all what you mentioned..

The color of the herb is changing.. So is the texture.. :)

, and I do feel the state that I need to be at.. In a different sort of way too, without the otherwise wasted lungs feeling that I get with combustion..

that said, my aim isnt to get huge clouds alone..
Just being a seasoned smoker it's a bit of feeling as a newbie I was looking out for..

I'll change that outlook now..

thanks

Outstanding! You're on the road, but it's still a journey to the goal. That strange connection between choking on the junk that comes from combustion and getting high needs to be broken. Your mind must learn it's not necessary to stick your head in the campfire to get off. Up to now that's been the case.

Remember how your body objected to smoke at first? Nothing changed but your attitude. You came to like that because getting high was involved.

It seems to take about a week of no blazing? Some guys do it in a couple days, some two weeks, but stick by it, the worm will turn.

You'll note two other things happen along the way, first since you're not burning your precious THC up in some ill advised fire, your weed bill will drop. A LOT. Like to 1/3 or 1/4 of what it was before. Secondly, suddenly smoke will be just as foul as it ever was all over again. Several things seem to happen to everyone who gets on board, lower consumption rate, 'cleaner' high, and smoking is a revolting thing again......basically nobody wants to go back (or if they do they do it on another forum.....).

Congratulations. Thanks for the good word. You're welcome for any help, of course, that's the idea after all. Thanks for saying as much. Welcome to the club, you get to enjoy it more and live longer to do so......at a lower cost. Good combination, doncha think?

Hey FC, first-time poster, 2-month lurker.

Here's my Air story: (sorry for the length)

2 months ago I went to my local e-cig shop to grab some e-juice for my e-cig. At the checkout I was shown a Solo for sale, which I'd never seen or heard about before. Since I was unfamiliar with vaping herbs, I didn't buy it right then, but I went home and did some research online. As a redditor, I researched the Solo and ended up at /r/vaporents & /r/arizer, where FC was referenced quite a bit. After skimming through the various Solo threads here & there and finding positive reviews, I went back to the local e-cig shop and purchased the Solo for $150.

I was absolutely amazed at the Solo's performance, portability, and how much herbs I saved. Vaping herbs quickly replaced my harsh combustion intake with tasty vape clouds. I didn't have to venture outside anymore as I vaped indoors with ease. I felt high but still on-point, I didn't have to clean myself up after a session, my coughing greatly decreased, and I didn't experience that "burning out" feeling anymore. However, I didn't like to share the Solo since sucking a glass tube felt a little weird in a group session. Also, it felt too unprotected & naked without a skin, and I didn't like the battery life and the charging aspect of it. As awesome as it performed, the Solo was mainly kept at home & I didn't tell many people about it.

Weeks later my herb vaping life would change again when I saw a reddit thread about the release of the new Air at its introductory sale price. Already impressed with the Solo, I bought an Air without hesitation, and flipped my Solo days later for $130. I grabbed a couple of additional glass tubes, 3 extra batteries, and a black skin. As anticipated, all my issues with the Solo were addressed with the Air. Interchangeable batteries, silicone skins, shorter glass tubes with mouthpieces, & a sleeker design are all fantastic upgrades. I use the long glass tube at home, and the short glass tubes on the go. It's a sleek unit and doesn't feel weird when sharing due to the mouthpiece.

I was going to buy that sketchy charger from Arizer, but because of this thread that I've been lurking since the beginning, I instead bought the i4 charger, and I've had no problems whatsoever with it. Thanks guys!

After a month with the Air, I have discovered the following that may be helpful:
  • Personally, I start at the white temp, followed by yellow, then sometimes red. I get 2-3 10-min sets before I empty the ABV in a small pill container. I also carry a small blunt-wrap tube with ground up herbs so it's easy to transport & pour in the glass tube.
    kingpin-capo_spanish.jpg

  • Inserting, removing, & scraping/cleaning the glass tubes is easiest when the unit & glass are warm-hot.
  • Ear picks scrape and clean up much better than the tool that comes with the Air. Very cheap online.
    20120317092312073.JPG

  • Screens are recommended, but not required. I have used with & without, and prefer using a screen. It keeps the tubes cleaner when harvesting. I bought a bunch online for cheap that specifically fit the Air/Solo stem.
  • I used to clean the glass tubes with isopropyl alcohol, but after reading ABV threads I now harvest the accumulated honey. It's quick and easy; simply boil a mug of whole milk and toss the tubes in there & keep stirring to avoid milk skin formation. Add some hot chocolate & enjoy a nice body buzz.
  • Tube caps are great to have when on the go, and are extremely cheap. Well worth it.
  • To safely transport all these accessories, consider a hard-shell case used for sunglasses.
  • When vaping indoors, to mask the vapor smell simply place dryer sheets behind an oscillating pedestal fan. Works surprisingly well.
Overall, I am extremely impressed with the Air. It has everything that I've always wanted in a herbal vape, and it has carved a special place in my heart. So much that even though I'm broke from holiday shopping, I still purchased another Air when it went on sale again. I'm planning to stash that second one away safely as a backup instead of using both concurrently. Yes, the Air is that good.

I have learned so much from FC that my herbal life has changed for the better. Thanks again, you guys are awesome!
