I don't see your point @nonbeliever. Just pay the preorder with a credit card and the CC company will refund you if you don't get what you purchased. It happened to me with the Mivape. 2 e-mails and they gave me a 100% refund, no prob.

I am willing to bet MasterCards money that Grasshopper will deliver, and will place an order as soon as I get the chance.

...They are now taking preorders on their site. If they don't follow through with those or refund people money, then there would be actual legal options for the people that purchased during preorder. If people still have doubts that GH won't follow through, that should help clear up those doubts at least a little.

Now as to how well it will perform in person, that is still to be determined.

Soon, yeah, soon. Nothing stellar about this update, other than yet another set of excuses. Trevor's got a great little scam going here... Post some photos and promise it'll be soon every other week - and then rake in more dollars on "pre-orders", giving the gravy train a new round of life.

So, does it work or not?!?!? You have all the parts there make the demonstration with a live video.

Boxes!? Who needs boxes? We got leather sleeves man!
Yeah man those leather sleeves are badazz, more like holsters than sleeves really. They're much better than I expected, which was more like a thin floppy-looking thing. I'm glad I held off on the metal box now.

Yeah, the leather sleeves are actually looking really nice... :D

Might have to add one to my order!

Ye I saw that, I ment to say a new one, with the new parts they Just got and going to ship to us.
And I want to see a fellow stoner use it without 3 degree burns on his lips :D

Well this this was posted December of 2013. Didn't watch it again, but I think the guy in the video is a "first time vaporist." The video leaves a lot to question though. No way to know until we see some legitimate reviews.

The leather sleeves do look nice. I know my unfinished titanium model comes with one :)

That video is not promising that's why a new one could be better :) he is sucking for long time and forceful and exhale a really small cloud without even keep it in for some sec.
Btw I find grasshopper an a amazing project and I have also pre ordered it, to help them achieve it but I would love some more field tests video teasing, like milking a glass 3-4 times before it stop producing vape maybe?

It appears to me that GH's rate of progress in production & getting to market is accelerating nicely now - concept to reality. I seriously doubt that the GH team would allow the "hot lips" concern to ever mar the overall experience ...just wouldn't make sense considering their apparent meticulous attention to minute aesthetic & function details. :2c::2c::peace:

I got a response from Trevor regarding the Ti units and WPA, hopefully he won't mind if I share.

"Hi Jojo,

Thanks for contacting me. We have remained pretty focused on getting the Standard unit completed, but the Ti units are very close in design and mostly revolve around changing the type of metal machined. The few design differences have been worked out and we don't expect any problems. We took this approch because it is cheaper and easier to machine with stainless steel first and then once everything is perfect have the same parts made in Ti.

To answer your question, no you won't have to wait for both. We know there have been a ton of delays already and we will ship to you as soon as possible, even if we have to pay shipping twice. We will be producting the WPA, but had to push it to the back burner while we got the Grasshopper finished. If you want to trade it out for something that is totally fine. Let me know what you want to do.

Best,

Trevor"

Good info here if you ask me, happy I don't have to wait any longer than the other Early Bird order-ers.

I'm curious how much time there was between your order and the refund? I though cc companies limited claims to within 60 days. If that is true, then an order placed today might not be covered. I believe scams are drawn out to take advantage of the limitation. Please don't take that as a statement about the GH situation. I see signs that are both hopeful and troubling. Guess the excitement about being unsure of it keeps me reading this thread. I really hope everyone gets the vape that is every bit what they hoped. Just a post from the rafters...

@syrupy, very good points.
I think the laws are different depending on what country you are in. It's 90 days where I live, USA is most likely different.

Time Limits

Different credit card companies have different time limits for requesting refunds. Typically though, credit card companies give consumers somewhere between 60 and 120 days from the date of purchase to ask for a refund. However, this is the time limit you have to ask the credit card for a refund, not the time limit for asking the merchandiser for one. Read the fine print of your credit card's refund policy to ensure you understand the time limit, and when you make a purchase and later find that you need a refund, don't procrastinate in asking for it.

Thanks for the info. That's a big reason why I don't do pre-orders/prepayments. Days drag to weeks, and then oops too late. This product feels a little hot to handle to me (not a vapor temp reference). I love pizza but right out of the oven it burns my mouth, if that analogy makes any sense. But bless early adopters! :)

Im quite happy I only found out about this thing 6 months ago. otherwise I probably would be as aggravated as some of the others on this form. It would be a huge issue if the vapor was really hot, its the same reason most people would rather use a bong than a pipe.. I cant really see how the vapor would not be hot, guess just need to wait about 5 months read some reviews then decide if Its for real!

Idk my Imag Plus is not very hot and its not THAT bigger then the GH.

Will the true convection aspect of this vape increase or decrease the probability that the vapor will be too hot? Or is there no way to tell yet given this has never been done in a pen-style design

We have had convection flower vaporizing in a small package before (ThermoVape Evolution), with short vapor paths like that, this, MFLB, etc. vapor can come out warm to hot but not terrible.

As the Q man points out there actually has been at least one 'pen style true convection' vape and heat is an issue. Evolution came with a cumbersome heat shield (doubling or a bit more the diameter) that was only partially successful at isolating the very large amount of heat that was generated just making the hot air. Attempts to remove it were only partially successful and lead to other problems.

And even with that insulation heat losses were quite large, calling for yet more battery power to make up for that. Very short battery life (with a bigger battery than GH can hold) was definitely a limiting factor in it's use. Or rather I should say "is a limiting factor" since many of us still have working models.

It is just that experience, falling short if easy operation yet causing lots of heat problems and seriously draining the battery in the process that leads some of us to question the very attractive performance claims. Hopefully at least some of those claims will come to pass, but as of now our collective experience is such a small true convection vape runs into very serious heat and short battery life problems in addition to needing a high degree of skill to operate. At best, I fear, vapor production will be modest as well. It takes power we don't have here to make a lot of vapor fast I think. Time will tell, hopefully.

The fact that Evolution was not very popular or successful is seen as a clue by some of us I think. It took size and battery increases (about four times in both ways) to the Cera level to get ahead of these problems. GH could indeed be a 'great leap forward' if it meets it's claims.

Wicked response, friend. Thank you for the information and cheers for the subtle 'great leap forward'. I am keeping my optimism high!

Thanks, and you're welcome, of course.

And good catch on the quote.......let's hope it works out better for GH than it did for Papa Mao? He's dead now, you know.......and no longer very popular......
