Hi All. I've been lurking but wanted to ask a couple of quick questions.

1) Has anyone come across this 710hotbox 2.0, and if so, any opinions on it? Compared to the RDK-200?
http://www.710hotbox.com/hb20c

2) Does anyone still have the promo code for the discounted RDK-200? I can't find it but really wanted to try it.

The hotbox 2.0 is 208 equipped with flat coil and uni-nail. The RDK-200 w/ out discount is 280 similarly equipped n shipped.

Any input is appreciated.

There was no promo code for the RDK-200. They just listed it discounted on the site. The one you linked looks identical, might want to enquire about the length of the warranty though.

Ohhh ok, gotcha. Thanks for the heads up. Each claims a year warranty... however, Auber appears to be an overall more reputable company specializing in actual power applications (even if they aren't a 420 familiar company).

Shaving off 30% or so off my costs sounds tempting, but I just know it will cost me in the long run and I don't want to be the guinea pig today lol.

RDK-200 here I come. Thanks for the help. Hopefully someone will try the 710hotbox2 though. They should work on the name.

Pretty nice arsenal of product. Ive got about 6 different types of oil and a container full of reclaim. Dropdowns are a must with an e-nail. Reclaiming out of them is so easy.

@Silver420Surfer, if you're close to RCG, we probably were neighbors at one point. I could have walked there when I lived in Florida.

Thanks man. Variety is a blessing.
Half a dozen "flavors" should keep you good for a bit.

I agree about the dropdown, mine will be here tomorrow along with my carb cap(Errlectric vortex), but at least my Auber is showing out for delivery today.(I think I am the last neighborhood on the mail carrier's route, lol, 5-6pm.)

RCG is in the vicinity, but im nearer the water. I have ZERO love(or even like) for any of the LHS in the area, if I am being honest. Over-priced, less-than-knowledgable staff, bad selection, etc., thank goodness for the interweb.

UPDATE: Auber RDK200 just arrived!! Missing 1 piece out of 5 for my universal enail <hard sigh>.
So I guess I will be waiting until next week to use it. Auber is closed already for the day, left them an email. UGH.

You should have two cups, a female piece, a male piece and a shaft. The piece it sounds like youre missing is for female joints. If you can post a picture of all the pieces, I can tell you for sure. Its an Infiniti knockoff.

I got my flat coil today and its installed now and heated. Im letting the TI season a little since I havent used it much. FWIW, I had to leave a piece out of the nail anyway. The shaft isnt long enough to accommodate all the pieces with a coil in it.

Make sure the male piece isnt up inside the female piece. If you arent looking there for it, it can hide up in there. Ive had that happen before.

Looking at their picture, if that nail came assembled and IF the piece is in there, its up inside the female piece. Its not fully threaded so you can screw the rod right out and it will stay up in there. Thats how you store it when you arent using it. Dude.. it sounds like youre missing the male piece if youre missing anything. Surely you can find an adapter at a local shop so you can be good for the weekend.

Im assuming its the first one youre missing. Check up inside the big female piece.

Reading back over this, I sound completely baked. Im 100% sober, Ive just edited this thread about 1000 times.

Good call @PoopMachine !!!!! Found it.
Now. HOW the hell do you program the box to work with coil??!!??
Following instructions on Auber site, I'm not seeing what they are saying I should be when I hold the button down. When I do initial press I get an "H" in the top box, "500 in the bottom box. Changed to 166 per Auber, hit button takes me right back to the "H" on top, now 166 in bottom?? I'm confused as hell. FREE dabs to whoever can help.

Plug your coil in bro! It won't adjust unless you plug the XLR in. You might not need to adjust it though...PID values should be set for the coil that shipped with your unit, well mine was anyway.

You may want to go to setting 155 though and change the temperature correction coefficient. I have mine at 1.20 currently.

:)

@GSH--Ok I got the 155 setting set to 1.2 as you suggested.
Thanks!!

Verified the OTH was set to "100" for the flat coil by the manufacturer.

What temp are you guys dabbing at?

For info hat 1.20 setting was based on my ceramic nail. I am not sure what the right setting for Ti is but it will vary a bit from nail to nail anyway. Best bet is to get a K-type thermocouple thermometer to measure the cup temperature accurately.

With all that said I have been using my nail at between 650-800 depending on the type of hit I want and the type of concentrate. Been doing shatter at around 650-680 and wax/crumble at about 680-710 for low temps. I set the nail to about 800 for a knockout dab with no carb cap needed.

@PoopMachine have you managed to get some more accurate readings on your thermocouple with your Ti nail?

@Silver420Surfer, NICE! Glad you found it. I had that piece get stuck up in mine and I didnt think I was ever going to get it out. Then I screwed the rod up just a tad and pulled it right out. Man, I felt stupid.

We keep ours between 700-710 for pretty much everything. My Infiniti dish is relatively unused so Im going to try to get a reasonable temperature off of it and figrue out what my offset should be.

Liking 650 also. I started at 700, seemed to instantly vaporize any crumble. Nice rips, good taste, but a tad to hot i think for me.
I reckon the Ti may get have better heat transfer than the ceramic and may need less offset, maybe try around 1.10 instead that would be giving an offset of about 50 degrees from the nail to coil rather than the 100ish degrees mine is set at. You are doing the right thing anyway, playing around and working out what's best for you :)

Gonna do a couple more test runs for :science:, then switch over to my SCS Omni nail and see how that works.

@PoopMachine -- I got all 5 pieces to fit on the universal nail, meh, it's decent I guess. Thanks again for that heads up!

No matter what i do, I cant get my infrared to go higher than 400 on the coil or the dish. Frustrating.....
This could be to do with the emissivity of the Ti, not being an easy thing to measure with infrared. My ceramic may be slightly easier. I am just speculating here, but it could be a factor. You can get temp guns that you can adjust the emmissivity for measuring different types of material.

I skimmed the .PDF on how to do that on the Auber website, seemed pretty easy.(I think)

I sold my HE Infinity awhile back, I have the SCS Omni nail, wonder if that'll work with the flat coil.

I'm really curious how good it does pair with the SCS. I have this nail, this rdk200 seems like a great deal !

@GSH --So far, pretty slick! My carb cap will arrive tomorrow so I will be able to enjoy some lo temp dabs, which is what prompted me to look into a device like this. Coming over from a Nectar Collector and torch, the enail clutter(bong, enail box, cords, plugs) is probably the only negative issue for me.

@Roger D -- The SCS Omni Nail doesn't cut it, imo. If you remove the head from the Omni you'll see there is what i would consider a "neck" the is at the bottom of the cup. Well the coil would sit right under that "neck" instead of just the cup(like on most enail setups you see around) like it does on the universal nail that comes with the Auber. I guess you could run it like that at higher temps, but i have no desire to do that. I believe I saw(not on their website yet) on Instagram page, they have a SCS nail for coils, or at least had one. Check their Insta page and you can find out more about when they may have them again.

Carb cap arrived...aaand it's too big:doh:. It covers over the universal nail that came with my Auber kit and touches the coil, which really sucks. Temp drops like crazy bad when I tried to use it a few times--like 50 degrees.

Has anyone sucessfully paired the universal nail(not their standard enail) with a carb cap? Which brand worked for you?
I am down to the Ti Power Ti Rant per what i can gauge thru pictures on the web.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'll say this once again......
it's not the carb cap touching the coil that's the problem.
it's a cheap PID. (CONTROLLER) that is causing you to get large temp drops. the PID is taking too long to recognize the temp drop and react to it. better quality PIDs do not drop temp like you are experiencing. look into an Omron PID if you want a real solution.

I think you want one of these buddy...

It's what I have, and it fits my universal nail. I bought my nail off eBay a while back, however the dimensions look the same as the one that ships with the Auber RDK-200.

http://www.ti-ten.com/products/ti-ten-crown-carb-cap-dabber :peace:

I have a nearly identical fitting one like yours. I am not digging the way it covers the sides and touches the coil, which results in temp drop or just not being a good PID, like @Soflo mentioned above.
When I cap it I am at 710 deg., after a few seconds with cap, I drop to 650 deg.

I guess I am happy I didn't pay full price for the Auber at least.

@vjt324 -- Hive cap looks like it would fit my nail the same way and touch the coil.

Mine isn't touching the coil if you look closely though...should prevent your temperature drop hopefully :)

I seriously can't recommend the domeless.com ceramic nail and idab carb cap set enough though.

The ceramic tastes great and the carb cap is very shallow and just covers the 20mm dish of the nail :)
