I'm mostly wondering how to handle this based on the principle of the thing. This is a seller that this community has a long and complicated history with, and she sent me out a defective item and is being sketchy about it when I ask her to make it right. I don't care about the money, but on principle I feel that she should make it right, and don't want to encourage the idea that she can send out sub-par merchandise with no repercussions.

Again though, I'm not sure how important all that really is, which is why I'm turning to this thread, who has a long history of dealings and interactions with Kathy, to see what they think about the matter. So, those of you who have had less-than-optimal dealings with Kathy in the past, what do you think? What would you do?

My point is rather all of the things from China are basically destined to be sub-par, or else they would be upwards of what the non-clones retail for. Unless what she sent to you was DOA I'm not really sure what to tell ya. A $11 quartz banger that doesn't perform like a $100+ name brand is exactly what you payed for, sub-par. None of the Mobius clones, or cloned recyclers hit even close to as well as the ones blown by the creators, or else they would be a lot more expensive (that said they're amazing for $40-60 shipped, good luck finding prices like that locally for equivalent glass. Last time I walked in to peep pieces everything that looked remotely as good as DHgate is at least $100 flat) . Glass blowing isn't just an art, its a science, you pay for that technology at the end of the day.

On another note, I personally wouldn't recommend anything from china where the combustion/vaporization takes place but that's just me.

Sorry but paying more =/= value and you can see that from this thread. Often blowers will inflate their price for pieces based on their personal flare or additions, things which can be easily replicated. And just like you said, glass blowing isn't solely art and can be seen as functional by many, and as a result over time their productions will improve, replicate more cleanly, and generally become higher quality. Some designs are quite flukey as they are pretty well the first run for many pieces that we are buying, and will also improve over time with demand as high as it is.

FYI everyone - here's a good picture of the problem with my FC187 perc - I bet I'm not the only one with these poor cuts:

Obviously you can't expect perfect form and function from china glass and the FC187 is a good first attempt. But it's luck of the draw on the quality of your perc. I can also tell that some of my horizontal band cuts aren't even fully cut open!

It's really hard to get pictures of all the other chips in the cuts, but I have at least 4-5 chips like this big enough to cause the perc to fire incorrectly. Works fine on a hard pull, but not a long slow pull from my vape.

I already have a friend who liked the piece for combustion I might flip this piece to her for cost and try buying the v2 unit if Steven makes them

Hey all - just wanted to get back on here and apologise for not getting back you guys regarding the FC187. Unfortunately, I broke the forum rules and was given a Christmas vacation from FC :(

Anyway, about the FC187 I must say that I like mine but there are definitely a few imperfections as others have mentioned. As @Ratchett mentioned I also seems to have some cuts in the perc that are not fully open. The right side fires perfectly but the left side is kind of blocked a little. Other than that I found there is a small pinhole that goes right through the top part near one of the welds. It doesn't effect the function at all but I could do with out it.

Overall, I am happy with the piece though and it has become my daily driver. I actually had a big cleanout and culled my glass down to only 4 pieces. That actually became 3 after I smashed my DO-20w by accident (my first bubbler breakage :( )

I think for a first attempt Steven has done well and this gives me a lot of confidence to try him again and also to allow Steven some more flexibility and trust. IMO there are plenty of dodgy people on dhgate so once I have had a successful order I find it a lot easier to let my guard down.

Finally, I also wanted to add that I also received the funnel to barrel from Steven and I absolutely love the thing. I'm using it for flowers with a male Joda carbed gong and it really kicks arse imo.

Just wanted to say that Kathy sent me a new nail and was very nice about it in the end. Up to the standards we hold her to here. So please don't let my earlier review color your opinions. Everyone else likes her nails, and an off one gets through the QC of even the best vendors now and again. I assume my replacement will be of good quality.

@Cablue and @howie105, I appreciate you weighing in, but my question was actually directed to the people on here who have a long history of doing business with Kathy, back in the day before she was the reliable vendor she is now...

I've got to respectfully disagree. Experience has given me quite a bit of respect for the abilities of many of the Chinese glassblowers we buy from on this thread and, while I don't expect American quality, I at least expect functionality. I don't know about you, but I've actually hit a GB-186 right next to a real Stereo Matrix and I can tell you the difference is minimal. Certainly not $350 worth of difference. Also, you can't compare anything to a "name brand" club banger, they're some of the most marked-up items in the glass game. People pay 5x the value for a basic piece of quartz just because it's made by the interns of someone that works for Mothership... Ridiculous. I've got to ask, if you don't recommend Chinese glass at all, as you say, why are you participating in this thread?

So I got my Kathy banger, adapters, and pievce in today. Maybe there was a miscommunication because she HOOKED IT UP. Got all this for $50. The bangers actually sit perfectly on my piece. Just wish the whole was a bit bigger but I haven't tried it yet so we'll see. Very happy though. Here's a pic of all the stuff...

As of this time there has been no replacement shipped for the broken FC-187. Not a long time, but passed promised date one and two. Better not to make promises than to make them then not fulfill them... :|

Sorry havnt read all posts but i just got my d020 from dhgate and want to pair my lotus with it. So i assume i need 18mm male to 14mm female adaptor for it to fit. Do they do these on or dhgate or where can i get. Many thanks
