I have this odor you people comment at all my jyarz and im agree completly ruin for natural odor of the MJ , just received every piece i leaved open for 1 day long but even i have the odor , do you have some rule for this ? I think the gaskets are old ones.
Thanks
I have to disagree. Im a picky customer. I have those 1st gen jyarz. I washed them many times, left them to air for weeks. It still smells the silicone. If it wasnt for many fcers reporting it not to be a problem, I wouldnt have dared to put my grounded herbs in.

BUT

I blindly trusted the reports and used them anyway. It never, o never, affected the taste of smell of my herbs. None at all. It must come with the food grade appelation those gasket get. No reaction whatsoever with the organic material putted on.

Im just sharing my usage exp. Ive been satisfied for over a year now. And the gasket look as new and give me the perfect sealing everytime.

I think when you open a bottle and want to have a FIRST look , that first odor you have is the horrible smell of plastic, im not mean this give taste to MJ but i think the people likes smell their material like me , is one of the rituals for me, then when you grind it you can smell and take a look , but sometimes i like to know the strain just smelling it.
Thanks

Vanvas,

I don't know what to say other than that I'll happily issue you a complete refund on your purchase price. Just send your order number to support@jyarz.com with your order number and we'll take care of the rest. The gasket you have (based on the picture you sent me directly) is the latest and greatest. There is no more pure food grade gasket material on the market and trust me I've researched this in depth. I'm sorry we couldn't make you a happy customer.

Best,

-Aldo

P.S. if other customers are experiencing this issue please be in touch, I stand behind our products ;-)

I'm so confused ;-) I thought you were very unhappy! And I checked your order and you got some of the first run gaskets, we've replaced them (sent updated gaskets to all customers so I'm not sure why you didn't receive that update). Anyway, please just confirm your address and how many Satchmo you purchased (send to support@jyarz.com) and we'll take care of you!

...maybe we can make you a happy customer after all!

Have you tried removing all the gaskets and hand washing in a dishwashing soap like Dawn and then letting them dry?
For me, that got rid of 95% of any odor.

I've been using the chino with pre ground herbs when carrying outside the house and have really been enjoying it. My question is there any good techniques or ways to collect the kief that has accumulated on the sides of the glass?

If you don't like the q-tip and iso alcohol method, you can put the glass in the freezer and all that sticky goodness freezes and is much easier to scrape out.
Same thing goes for grinders. I'll pop my 3 piece SCS into the freezer and then the kief comes out MUCH easier.

All of the family got some classics, and they love them!

I made the mistake of ordering all black though. Didn't think it though that 2 or 3 colors would be beneficial for different strains and/or AVB. Oh well, marking them with some tape. But for future orders, there will be more color variation! ;)

Love the Jyarz, and the BOGO sale was fantastic!

If you have unused product you can send it back and we'll swap it out for colored version if that helps.

Always, always, always love to hear that people are enjoying their new JyARz ...thanks for that. And if anyone is willing we have new "social review" (makes it easy to share reviews on Twitter etc) software on JyARz.com so please give us a review if you have time and are so inclined.

Happy New Year.

Very much appreciate the offer, Aldo! Only have two left that aren't opened, and not sure it's worth the postage back and forth to change the color. Thank you very much anyway though!

Are you still having this issue? Can you take a picture of the gasket for me please? It might be that you have an early version that somehow got through the system?

And I agree with you completely, you shouldn't have to wash and dry overnight or anything of the sort. Those gaskets are silicone they really shouldn't have any odor to them at all. They are very pure and clean so I'm confused as to the source of the odor.

-Aldo

Thanks, Aldo.
It was primarily because of all of the great love there is for you here on this forum that I even considered your product (props to the FC community), and I haven't seen anything but a great attitude from you so far. So, thanks.

I will take a pic and upload later tonight, but for now...
Just to help you know which ones I have, these gaskets are slightly oranger than a hotdog in color, and about 3.2mm thick.

(NOTE: in this context, I am only referring to the big ones......I can smell the smaller, thicker, cream-colored ones too, and I'd rather they didn't have any odor whatsoever, but these bigger ones are just nasty)

I followed most of the suggestions posted earlier RE: cleaning. After cleaning, they all sat out for over a full day with ceiling fan going to help air-out. After the cleaning and drying, the odor was definitely, significantly diminished. In fact, one of them almost seemed to lose it completely; though the other one (which had more pungent odor than the other previously as well) still had quite a bit of the odor.

Then, I sat them on my desk for about a month to just continue to air out...

Then, in my desperation, I cut the bulk of the center circle of one of them out so that there is just enough of a ring of gasket for the glass to rest against and about a couple mm on each side. This way, I maintain the seal (and the integrity of the gasket), but cut way down on the amount of the material that's producing the odor.

Then, I screwed the caps on both of the ones I have (one with full gasket, and one with the modified, minimalist version), and set them on my desk to wait a week to find out how much odor collects in there with nothing but air on the inside.

Besides uploading the photo later tonight, I will also come back in here after I open them up to post a report on the status after one week...

Aldo,
I can't upload the photo cause I don't have a website, and the forum software doesn't allow local image uploads.

Then, I tried going to your website to see if I could find an email address, but then the site isn't coming up.

Contact info?

You can send photos to me at Aldo@JyARz.com. Our gasket supplier has some new material from a medical products supplier and we've started using it for Satchmos. I have to think about how to make these generally available (we may just ask people to cover shipping) to people that are unhappy with their gaskets in the Satchmo. But if you'd be willing to test it and report back to the community I'll send you a sample or two.

Again send info to me via Aldo@JYArz.com.

Thanks,

-Aldo

Yup, got it and I replied.

I have to say the satchmos are the perfect size to store concentrates in a usb fridge. Sits flush on the "cold plate". Keeps everything cold.

WOuld you be willing to post a photo? I'm curious to see what your setup looks like with USB fridge and Satchmo on top!
