The Mighty/Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel

Not sure whether this was already covered, but I realised that removing the orange tool in the base, turning it round and then inserting it backwards allows you to stand the mighty up. Was this planned? Either way, I love it!

I am quite the stoner, I didn't realize there was the tool in the bottom and I burn over a g a day of kindbud. I ordered the tool after my mighty arrived without it (he he).

Ok, so I've had a few hours with my mighty and I have a few comments.

First, a few negatives. Based on the bowl size as well as the power of this thing the Mighty certainly goes through herb pretty quickly. Second, it's a lot larger than what most would consider portable. For myself this type of portability was what I was looking for but if you're interested in a low profile device this isn't the unit for you. Lastly, the auto timer was a bit annoying at first but once you start using the Mighty the negatives quickly dissipate.

As far as the positive side I have plenty to say. Although the unit is bigger than most ports this thing is by far the first actual desktop replacement I've ever seen. Once I learned my temperature marks (a bit lower than on my desktop) I immediately realized that the Mighty was producing vapor better than some stationaries.

The build quality is hefty, feels well made, screen is bright and easy to read. Feels a bit like an oversized heavy duty Iolite. The units is also well insulated with what I assume is great ventilation as my unit stayed cool to touch.

The UI is simple and to the point. Temp up, temp down, on and off. The battery is insane! This thing has been through 4 sessions with me and I haven't lost a bar of battery life yet.

The air path is also wide open. Brilliant pull with zero resistance. I was also concerned about taste being a factor when I saw metals and plastics in the construction but I assure you, I was mistaken.

As far as I am concerned, thank you @t-dub!

;)

Fine tuning/technique for "Adam" style hits. ie: real thick and hard hitting, like the texture of extreme q elbow hits.

Please post your own findings:
1) I use totally dry and fine almost dust like high grade herbs
2) fill bowl 3/4 of the way or a bit more
3) I have as cleanly as possible separated my oil pads in half or for best results thirds and put that on top of herbs and PRESS DOWN , hard tamp

I find that I get really thick nice hits that safisfy me. Sometimes I can get a very similar hit without the oil pad, but not every time. I do maybe 10 sessions on a busy day so I have to clean the cooling units way less this way as well.

All and All this is the best vaporizer by far imo.

Post your techniques

Question about the convection/conduction properties of the Mighty. If the unit is on, but I'm not drawing air through it, is it still cooking the herbs with conduction heating, or like the Firefly, is the herb not cooked, if I'm not drawing air through it.

The herb is definitely still cooking some. It's easy to understand why: if you touch the bowl of either the Mighty or Crafty after use, it's actually quite hot and the temperature is going down slowly. With the Firefly on the other hand the bowl is cool to the touch almost immediately after use.

I'd say it's more like the solo,
it's still cooking a bit, but if I want to leave the rest of the bowl for later, I just do another hit or two with the unit off.
this way the chamber has cooled off enough to not cook the bowl anymore. in between hits the loss is minimal.

I spoke to a rep and kinda asked this question to them. Yes, the oven does heat up to warm up the material and keep it warm. I was told it does produce vapor via conduction, but very minimal. Most of the vaporization happens from convection, the hot air passing through the herb. This is more or less what I was told.

I am so torn here. I have the Alfa (great portable) and have the Firefly (great convection), but really want this. I would appreciate it if someone could talk me out of this :\

It's a lot of cabbage for an impulse buy? Did that help?

If not, go read the MiniVap thread, it may at least distract you to want something else...

Ok, I'll give you another perspective, but please understand, this is coming from someone who does not vaporize in sessions but rather a two to three hitter and quit. Also, for me, bud conservation is really important.

For me, a vaporizer like this would be wasteful. I want a vaporizer that ONLY applies heat when you inhaling, so for me, a FireFly, an MFLB, a PV, an LSV, an SSV, etc.............makes much more sense. It's for this very reason that I sold my Ascent right after I won it in a contest, because it too operated in much the same way as the S&B portables do, that is a conduction/convection hybrid where the heat is always on until the unit is shut off.

But.........if I was a session vaporist, I would be lusting for this puppy in a very big way.

So, if you are a session vaporist, sorry, I can't help you.

Go ahead and make the purchase. The only downside will be how little you use the ff and alpha. The mighty is on a different level IMO.

For someone that vapes like I do, what you just said is NOT the only downside (see my post above yours).

Some people use vaporizers differently than others so to make a general statement like that without first finding out how a person likes to use their vape is very..................ill advised.

For some, the FF may in fact, be the better choice.

I have a ff and used it both ways for sessions and quick hits. To be honest I use the mighty the same way. I was just trying to give a honest opinion that differed from yours. I didn't realize that your opinion is the only valid one.
I also believe the mightys vapor quality is far better than the ff, so wonder how that will go over. Nothing against the ff, I've been a supporter of it.

I didn't realize that your opinion is the only valid one.

I wasn't trying to invalidate your opinion, but rather to put into some kind of context.

You said, "The ONLY downside......." and I responded that for me, that is not the only downside and I would imagine that for others, it may be the same.

For me, I don't want a vaporizer that is applying any kind of heat to my herbs when I'm not inhaling from it simply because bud conservation is a very high priority for me and I totally get that for others, it very well may not be a high priority.

I'll be the first to say that my opinion is FAR from the only valid one here at FC. I can only say what is valid for ME, as you can say what is valid for YOU, but I don't think either one of us can assume that our opinions would be valid for anyone else, hence why I took exception to your statement that someone else should just go ahead and make their purchase simply based on your opinion (or mine for that matter).

....also can oil pad users post on whether or how often and how they clean their oil pads...

Lwien, I don't want to throw this thread off topic any further but have you ever tried the Elevape Smart Vape (ESV). I found mine to be a bit finicky to get calibrated properly but now that I do, I love it. It's draw on demand convection vaporization. Sounds perfect for your style and super stealthy for out of the house use.

Thanks for the suggestion, scott. I never tried it but it has sparked my interest. It's just more than I can afford though. But hey, just because I can't afford it doesn't mean that I can't lust after something, eh?
