Hum if I go that high on mine it will roast it almost black with a bitter taste N I usually start 355 for few hits those are the tasty ones the climb to 375 380 ish. Not often I got beyond 375 All depends on moisture vs oil content

A word of caution, make sure of the directionality of your twist when you open the unit.

It can bring me down quickly if I "are" baked, and twist it the wrong way.

Your investment
hinges
upon keeping it together, I found.

I also would not lend it out, if you know what I mean.

To me it is eye candy, and one of the more pleasing units out. Hopefully DaVinci will trump its Ascent with another winnah! this coming year.:chill:

I was wondering if I would experience that, but it stayed a nice brown color. Never got the sour scorch taste.

The hinge part scares me. But I have a solo to be less careful with, right? This seems so delicate.. But it definitely delivers

Has anyone found any use for the glass vials? I bought extra at time of purchase because I thought we were going to do concentrates. Now I use a weed sandwich for concentrates. I'm wondering if we drilled holes on the bottom and then use organic cotton with concentrates. Has anybody tried this?

I have different vaporizers and wondering if the glass vial can be used for some purpose in another vaporizer. Any insight would be greatly appreciated

Dry flower, glass flower, dry flower, glass flower.

I decided to go for the vapor cycle for my first session. I did 365, 385 and 410 all for 3 minutes. I don't know if it's honeymoon or what but this things pretty impressive.. I do think I'll have to get a nice custom wong for it. I feel like I should get another ascent too..

Ya ,was thinking @ same thoughts after putting it to its 1st time out ~ me prefers @ low temp to start ( 358 ) ,just for '"taste"' for a min ,then it goes to 375 @ 1:30 ,and finally @ 385 @ 1:30 ,and if need extra boost ,a couple min @ 395 ~

This piece of *"art" needs a li'l extra care in cleaning just to be @ optimum maintenance > lovin' it :luv::leaf:

Psst* @ 179.99 thru 1/1/15 ,an extra unit seems like good investment ,and also get a chance @ dif cosmetics

I'm still enjoying excellent performance with these:

For all new users that joined the thread:

1) make sure to fix your vapor/air ratio one way or another (makes a huge difference)

2) use glass flowers or the puck technic (makes a huge difference too)

3) sip as slow as you can, like if you were making love to that straw

If you follow these 3 recommendations, you will enjoy your Ascent even more. And try low temps with it, this is where it excels!

PS: for implementation details please read the thread

Interesting that you decided to not "do concentrates"... while i rarely do concentrates, my wife is really into the organic-herb formulas that DV has at their site. She will often head out of the house with one of four bowls with a few drops in them of the eJuice purchased from DV. Though when at home she will go with any of our dry herbs/blends as a first choice. She just finds that the concentrates in bowls handy if out and about (or at work on a break if in the mood for a pick-me-up-vape.)

I've also used a large glass bead with the Ascent. It worked but didn't know if it was heat safe? It didn't break and I had no problems. I bought the glass bead at a hobby shop. Eventually I bought the glass flower pipe screens from Amazon.com. I can customize my load size. I use anywhere from 5 to 8 glass flowers. Most of the time I use 5.

***Slow and steady draws wins the race with the Ascent. Wait 30 seconds to a minute between draws for maximum vapor clouds. Being able to set the precise temp for your meds is a big plus with the Ascent.

Here is a pic of the @Ed's TnT 14mm WonG for the Ascent. I've posted this pic before.

EDIT- A coarse grind with herb that's been properly cured. Damp herb doesn't work well in any vaporizers.

Excellent checklist, to which I suggest adding:
4) wait plenty of time between hits for the heat to recover.

Perhaps even a note about cure, grind and pack?

Hi I just bought my ascent and I can hardly get any vapor from it even though my herbs cook to a dark brown. Where can I find these fixes in the thread (it's 300pages long lol) because I'm fairly disappointed having spent a good £170 choosing this over the solo which is £40 cheaper

Edit: and now my oil jar is stuck in the chamber rendering it useless. Should I just refund this

Welcome! First post and already complaining without reading any tips and tricks eh? Lol - first off - try packing the vape a bit more dense than usual. Also there is a known issue with air leaking into the vapor path - you will not see very big clouds using the standard setup. I suggest you use the 14mm Straight Waterpipe adapter as a mouthpiece instead of the retractable glass mouthpiece - this will eliminate the air leakage into the vapor path and produce bigger clouds.

If you do not have the waterpipe adapter. I suggest you only retract the mouthpiece as much as necessary to get your lips around it. Alternatively you can try to mix/match the inner and outer glass stems to find the pair which have the best 'seal' (the smallest gap possible between the two glass pieces).

Also if you have not tried - take a look at the 'glass flowers' - aka glass pipe screens - aka glass daisy flowers which we use on the bottom/top of the load to help distribute the heat evenly.

Regarding the stuck oil jar - open the chamber and preheat your oven to 375F then insert a long/skinnny nail into the vent on the bottom of the Ascent to nudge the jar loose

Its important that you educate yourself with the Ascent. Read back 25 pages or so. Some of the things are talked about are repeated. Read something once then skip over it. We just talked about the glass pipe screens that you can buy through Amazon.com. That helps as a spacer. Some folks have used the oil jars, as yourself and they too gotten theirs stuck. Nobody has had luck with using the oil jars as intended, they are using them as spacers.

The Ascent has a large oven. Either fill it up all the way with a firm pack or use something as a spacer. The herb flies up into the stem it doesn't stay at the bottom of the oven. The glass flowers pipe screens help to hold the load down. There is a technique to using this portable.

I prefer using a GonG or WonG as a mouthpiece. It works better for me. There is a pic up above.

There is a bit of a learning curve with the Ascent. It takes some practice to master this little unit. In the beginning when I bought mine I was ready to sell it.

Now this unit is part of my vaporizing lineup. Do your homework.

Yay can drill into the jars I cut the 2 corners off one and drop it ontop I think holes are better. I like the glass cans better than flowers a lot of the time I just pack my load tight with a screw I made into a stir packing tool that slides into the top of the machine like the ascent stir tool but the flat end lets me pack her down tight for bigger clouds If I don't get a big hit my dizziness does not go away and the pressure pain in ears does not either

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help
hi dudes & dudettes,

get well into 2015 - and then happy new year!! :)
I was a silent reader for some time... but its been months ago since my last visit. now I got my first ascent (v2) and the thread has exploded to almost 300 pages... weew!
I dont mean to bother or lame around with my demand: Can you expert-and-up-to-date vape friends tell and teach me how to use and treat the ascent the best way! :)
The only did I did was to burn off at max for about 25 minutes. I'm gonna use it occasionally and only with small loads. What can I do to get good results and nice vape quality? Should I get extra stuff or can I MacGyver something with the stock parts?

Appreciate every lil hint - won't use it before the next week end

Vapy regards :)

I love my ascent, but the reason I like it is actually opposite of your desires. I wanted a portable with a big bowl to have a long 20 min session. However, I tried with smaller amounts and it works great too. I use the glass vials for small loads. Dump in some flowers, put the vial over the flowers (take off the black seal), and vape. Some ppl suggested using glass flowers to fill up the empty space.

Don't expect anything with concentrates. The glass vials don't do the job. Instead, make a flower and wax sandwich. I know this product received a lot of criticism, but this is one of my favorite vapes. Also, you can program the machine to alternate heat settings. But one thing I learned from this community is that everyone shares and give insight on maximizing the functionality of your ascent.

Can you expert-and-up-to-date vape friends tell and teach me how to use and treat the ascent the best way!

I bet if you go back 25 pages or so and read forward you'll find this covered at least twice. I know for sure at least once in the last 5, since I (along with others) contributed.

There is no "best way" that fits all owners, nor perhaps even most. You need to try different techniques to see what suits you best. Guidelines are the best you can hope for.

You should also pay heed to how it works. Very small loads on the bottom of the bowl are basically useless (I get it that lots of guys will come back '.....it works fine for me') since there's no heater there (it's in the walls). The maker has confirmed this. This is a conduction vape (despite what some might say, he still thinks it's conduction.....), meaning bud has to touch something hot, the walls are, the floor isn't.

The other (IMO) important insight is the glass lining means heat will transfer in slower than it's removed by the hit. Hitting it cools the load off fast, and in some measurements I made over 100 degrees F. That definitely ends production. This lead to the glass flowers idea, which IMO is well worth trying. Not only will it give you 'bigger hits' easier but will do so with less bud.

Like I said, pour a cup of your favorite beverage, prop up your feet and do some reading, it's all there many times, but you really need to educate yourself and experiment.......following 'canned' advice is not the way to get the answer you're asking for.

Regards and best wishes. IMO well worth the effort.
