Crafty/Crafty+ by Storz & Bickel

What is the cheapest android phone someone has used the crafty app on with success? So far the LG L40 seems like it might be compatible (but it is so fucking hard to find out whether android phones have bluetooth LE compatibility or not due to ambiguous listing of Bluetooth features).

http://www.bluetooth.com/Pages/Bluetooth-Smart-Devices-List.aspx lists the LG l40 as one that has bluetooth smart, however the manufacturers site - http://www.lg.com/au/smartphones/lg-L40-D160F-BLACK only lists bluetooth 4.0. I was given to understand that a bluetooth 4.0 device is not necessarily LE compatible. I come from an IT and scientific background and am used to repairing servers and workstations and whatever else at all kinds of levels. Why is it so fucking hard to find out if the MOST COMMON KIND OF CONSUMER ELECTRONICS DEVICE (mobile phones, which everyone and their fucking grandmothers use!?!?!) SUPPORTS A STANDARD THAT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A LITTLE WHILE????!!!!!!1111

I simply want a Crafty that will work at 175c and 200c for boost temp. I don't want to use Android or iOS, since both are fucking useless for my work needs.

Few questions:

Is it even possible to tell where the battery charge is at ACCURATELY without the app? If not, deal = broken.

Is there any other reason why the app is absolutely necessary?

@JCat did you use VM software, if so which and what version (ie: virtualbox/VMware, I would imagine Hyper-V is super tricky to get bluetooth working with some devices)?

If you did this with Virtualbox, what settings exactly did you choose (OS type - OS version - type of vhd etc...)

I have an intel centrino wireless N with bluetooth on my desktop and whatever the Surface pro 2 has. I've been playing around with the desktop all morning to no avail in a virtual machine. I am thinking it might be easier on the surface to get the bluetooth happening?

Did you install android 4.4 rc1 or could you get it working from the live cd?

I've had drama's all morning with RC2, did you also find RC2 to be shit for our purpose?

For sure. I figure someone with the talent will eventually do it for another platform, especially with your proof of concept by doing it on a mac already.

So, a few days in, I have gotten Crafty many times since.

I'm wondering what temps you guys like to start at? I'm having my best experiences going 355-380.

It seems like you have to pack this thing up fully if you want to get the most out of it. I'm not having much luck packing smaller loads with the oil pad. What temp do you guys use when you are packing only a half-chamber?

It just seems to kill the bowl pretty quickly.

One thing I was unaware about the crafty, if you have the app open, you can adjust the temp in real time. I thought you had to stick to the two temperatures, even if the app was on. This thing becomes fully digital when you have the application.

I can't lie, I had to gun it up to 380 to start, trying to get some big clouds one-hitter style. Worked well, cashed the bowl pretty quickly.

I packed the Crafty to the brim earlier and had an excellent experience, thick tasty vapor.

Ok so I got android x86 r1 running in virtualbox on my surface, I have got the bluetooth adapter shared as a usb device. However when I turn bluetooth on in android it simply goes back to off after a moment.

@JCat any idea what I am doing wrong here? Is there something I need to do to get my bluetooth adapter working still?

Loving the vapelog mac program. Have it installed on my mini mac and works great. Any chance of making it to show fahrenheit for temperature ?

I'm glad to hear you guys are enjoying Crafty. However, after reading through the last 8 posts or so, It has become obvious to me that I personally don't have the technological acumen to successfully use this device. I'm just saying it's just a vaporizer, I don't see why anyone would want to deal with apps and Bluetooth and all the potential problems and complications associated with that Lol. Initially, I was gravitating more toward the Crafty due to the stealth factor , but I think I'll be heading back to the Mighty thread. It just think it's a better fit for me. I'm hoping the bugs will get worked out for both of these devices very soon. I also like the battery life and led screen on the mighty versus the Crafty.

Not quite sure why you put the "lol" in there, but there are many who LOVE to deal with apps and Bluetooth and being able to hook up their vape to their phones and 'puters is actually a plus. For them, it's kinda fun..........like a hobby.

That's great if some do! My point was that's it's not the right fit for me. When it comes to technology less is more. I like to keep things simple. I never said that the Crafty is not a great device... because it is. It's just not for me.

This is definitely a vape for people who can appreciate vapor quality.

It's a very strange device to hit, the hits are so effortless and smooth that you question if anything's happening.

That's when you'll feel a very slight tickle in the lungs and know you got something.

The vapor tastes so pure. This thing really is as powerful as a desktop unit. The fact that I could be riding my bike and hitting a desktop quality vape; that's unheard of. I like flowers more than concentrates, so having a fat vape on deck is really a major new advantage for me.

I can't wait to be on the golf course just ripping away, ripping desktop quality vape at exacting temperatures before I chip. Followed by a cork-screwing slice; trying to yell 'fore' with dry mouth.

Anyways, a vape for people who appreciate vapor quality. Effortless to rip. Volcano purity in a direct draw system, great stuff.

Yeah it's crazy how this vape legitimately is like a portable volcano, in fact i'd rather hit it than the volcano any day...

Man not to keep sucking the Crafty's dick or anything, but I'm really starting to appreciate this design more and more. Just went outside and parked my car across the street, in under 10 minutes, I was able to manipulate a load and stretch it out to probably 9-10 quality vaporizer hits. 4-5x hits at 355, 3x at 377, 2x400+

For all of you who were concerned with using the built in pick on a hot metal chamber, the secret is to agitate the blend without touching the walls, or little contact as possible. It's like playing the game "Operation"

I belive the pick is made of the same resin as the rest of the unit, which has to fall under some category of thermoplastic. The difference is the dye in the plastic, they built the pick in, they were already manufacturing all the other parts, the pick gets thrown in, only it's a different color; a small detail but it's congruent to the Storz and Bickel packaging. You just don't want the pick to be under prolonged exposure to those temperatures.

I like that the whole vaping kit is there for you in such a compact package, the digital exactness, the booster, the pick is built in, the vapor quality, the unit's hand-feel. This vape is a beast. I'm supremely medicated, yet I feel that clear headness of a Volcano vape, but it's different than a baloon direct draw but it's still incredibly smooth, pure, and highly effective.

I like keeping the LEDs on high, it's for my personal satisfaction seeing that they put some nice work into those quality L.E.D's. You can blow the vapor against it, and it helps make it visible at night btw.

I start at 355, move to 377, power the unit down, decide I could use two CBD rips to really send me to bed. Power back on, boost takes me to 400 and I take those 2 rips, they taste like popcorn but damn I feel great!

You know, I've yet to use the orange pic. The brush seems to do a good job of keeping the oven clean after a session, and I don't really feel the need to stir the load during a session. The even ABV tells me that stirring isn't required, so I just leave it alone.

@Ricchini have you found that stirring helps with extraction?

Yeah I must agree i haven't used the stirring tool once. the unit seems to not really require stirring but its nice of them to add that anyways.

I use the big round end to tamp the load a bit and hold it in place while I blow the little bits away.

Exactly it's not a stirring tool, it's just A tool for all your loosy herb needs.

That orange tool is the shizzle! Good for tamping a load when filling and for poking little bits of herb out the way.

Also great as a stirring tool, not that I have ever had to stir a load the size of loads I use my session is 20-30mins easy so stirring that shit I am pushing it to battery dead stage!

Crafty = Beast Vaporizer. Since I got my Crafty beginning of November I haven't used any of my other vapes and most importantly I haven't combusted once! WOO HOO

18 hours on my current crafty. I've cleaned the mouthpiece exactly 2x, and I've never removed the bottom screen in the crafty itself. Just a quick brush (only the 2 times I've cleaned the mouthpiece, ZERO maintenance between bowls) and a q-tip with iso on it to clean the inner bowl. It functions and tastes as good as brand new.

Very low maintenance .

Zero maintenance between bowls is super convenient!

Just reached 45hrs on my crafty. Agree it's low maintenance. And so far trouble free

Love hearing that! RU not combusting to be healthier? Or because the crafty is just that good and gets you that high that you don't need to anymore? I always found vapes to be on the weaker side compared to just lighting a bowl or smoking a joint. Even the volcano was annoying after a while since the hits are so diluted with air it never got me as high combusting adtually would. Is the crafty just that much better? I don't need to be super high like smoking a joint but being able to depend on the crafty for when I'm not home to get me equally as blazed would be real nice. And I do remmeber a while back in this thread hearing someone say after vaping the crafty they don't even want to combust anymore because he crafty gets them more medicated !
