Oh I see, that really sounds to me like they are just covering themselves:

Their legal team sat down and realized that allowing removable batteries means people can use the cheapest most dangerous made-in-China batteries and chargers they can find... but voiding the warranty is a cop out IMO. That's like SureFire flashlights saying you can only use their own self-branded batteries!

A more consumer friendly stance would be to say they won't cover the batteries or damage caused by the batteries malfunctioning... and the "made specifically for use with the Arizer Air" stuff is incredibly overpriced so it seems they're just trying to increase profits.

It's their business if they want to mislead the public and fear-monger about lithium ion safety, but this forum is about educating the masses. Li-ion technology is from 1990, we already know it is dangerous if you over-discharge or overcharge!

That's why modern chargers have advanced protections, and some let you lower the charge rate and lower the cutoff voltage to extend life, and they cost a hell of a lot less than $45 (when it should be $7)
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...Battery-4-2v-3-7v-EU-US/809919_846758092.html

All I know is they better have some secret circuit that can tell if you use a different battery or charger, because I sure plan to use the warranty if I need it! :D

Because the maker said there are safety issues involved with charger or battery substitutions.

OF

That's what a lot of company's will say when they what you to buy there product and not a competitors. How can you know for sure there's truth in that statement and its not just something he's saying to increase profits.

And it voids the warrenty.

Arizers not going to know you used a 3rd party charger unless you personally inform them of that fact. IMO since using a 3rd party charger is only risking the battery's and not the unit itself, Its kinda dumb for them to say it voids the warrenty on the unit anyway.
If I were to ruin my battery's from testing in various chargers I would take responsibility for that and learn from the mistake with the next set of batterys I purchase.
But if my unit started acting up I would cash in that warranty in a second without mentioning one word about my charging methods. Simply because it wouldent relate to my units malfunctions.

Never the less I appreciate all the info you provide here and recognize your just looking out.

Yeah I've had great success with my i2 charger and Air batteries, never charged in the Air once. Still have the cord wrapped up in the box. And I just took the Air on a cross country road trip where it was used quite heavily (along with Indica and Firefly) and charged in my car's regular 115v outlet.

However it would be even better if I knew whether or not I could use these new Samsung 25Rs I have, but I'll keep waiting on that til we know more. The external charging is easier to ignore the warranty warning over than the batteries for me, in fact its been pretty damn integral actually to my love for the Air.

But yes, big thanks to @OF for monitoring the thread and always being ready to explain the situation so people can at least be aware of both sides and make an informed decision for themselves. And huge thanks to @CentiZen for testing all the battery stuff for us so we will all k ow for sure soon!

Those capsule caps come with the vape? Looks really convenient for carrying extra loads around.

No, it's not a good idea. And yes, I'm the one who took his apart (and voided the warranty in the process) There is no advantage I could see and (if you check the text that went with it) I had to remove a hidden burr to get it to go back together. I sure don't want to encourage anybody to disassemble theirs, possibly lose or cross thread the tiny screws, get it hung up on a similar burr and be unable to reassemble or any other such accident that might render their unit useless and out of warranty.

My advice is to stick to the maker's instructions.

Your call, of course, but IMO it's not smart to do such things based on a photo you thought you saw without at least considering the information that went with that photo.........

OF

I just remembered that you took it apart lol. Wasn't able to find the post in all the pages which is why I didn't know of the included text. Definitely won't be taking it apart since there's no added benefit. Thanks @OF. Gonna stick to using a qtip while holding it upside down lol

Good point, but so IMO is the counter: How do you know for sure they're lying? With the stakes potentially pretty high I see no reason to rush out and buy stuff 'recommended on the web' against his advice until we know more. Either live with the original cell ('battery') or play it safe and buy the factory one if you can't wait is my advice. The only 'safe' move.

But let's take stock of what we do know (or at least what's been reported by known reliable) folks. Based on appearance in photos Pipes ID'd two possible chargers, one quite typical (4.2 Volts) for seven dollars, and it's 'big brother' a pretty unique 4.35 Volt one for $9. So everyone jumps on 'it's only worth $7' before we know if this is even the maker and which model Arizer is using.

Centizen reports abnormally low discharge values in Air, again not compatible with typical cells.

I reported slightly higher voltage in my Air (4.25 Volts).

It seems to me possible that this all fits together. In a drive for longer battery life (more minutes per charge) Arizer really pushed it. They're 'overcharging' (by conventional standards) and draining down past the point other battery makers don't support. Combined this means substituting random maker's 'just the same/better' (by the usual numbers) cells would be dangerous to those cells due to abnormal levels. Likewise, the charger could cause problems on it's own (but only on the overcharge side, obviously).

Charging the factory 'battery' in typical chargers should be OK Provided the charger terminates reliably (remember the cell is not protected), however this could lead to lower run time (by about 15% or a bit more I'd think) per charge. Just a somewhat educated guess.......we need more information to know more I think. And that is coming along.......

It may be the usual smoke and mirrors, perhaps even probably, but Arizer has never lied to us before I can recall. But again, I think there's a good case for waiting until more facts are known (like what the factory charger really is?). I sure don't advise ignoring the risks and spending money on substitutes at present.

Arizers not going to know you used a 3rd party charger unless you personally inform them of that fact. IMO since using a 3rd party charger is only risking the battery's and not the unit itself, Its kinda dumb for them to say it voids the warrenty on the unit anyway.

Each of us gets to decide what constitute ethics I guess. Cynically I think most want more from others than they want to give, but it's a personal choice in the end. I took mine apart to see how the oven was built. If the board in the cap falls off I'll still take responsibility for my actions (I hope). I don't expect most would these days. bit think this issue too should be considered at least.

Thanks for recognizing my motives, I'm big on 'informed choices'.

I noticed that Arizer changed the image they were using for the battery on their site. It's now a light purple color instead of the red one they had before. Has anyone received extra batteries from Arizer that are this color instead of the red B18650CC's?

My included battery was light purple! And I also received 3 MPs, two plastic tipped and one all glass...I am unsure of the purchase date, as my air was a gift

@CentiZen I ordered mine the last day of the $200 sale and received purple batts.

Recently figured out a great way to tap into the convection side of the air. I took one enano basket screen and placed it in the air stem. Packed some herbs just above the basket screen and tamped them down with my pinky. Then a flat screen goes on top of that(make sure it's below the top of the stem so there's no contact with the heater.
Using this setup I have gotten larger clouds,MUCH better taste throughout the whole session , and lighter abv.and each session lasts almost twice as long. More mileage of the material is something I like ! Even went as far as to not let the stem heat soak when the air is heating up and taking it out in between hits. If your a flavor chaser I recommend trying this.
Sorry enano ,the air is taking over :smug:

I really believe the stem design is an untapped source of innovation for Arizer (or some accessory maker). Having herb loose in the stem still seems funny to me, although I know this and the solo are among the most popular vapes, I'm not knocking it, it's just this always struck me as odd. Someday I'll pick one of these up and see for myself.

I agree. I have a solo and that's the huge hangup for me. OCD maybe.

I received two batteries from them on 12/24 that are kind of a powder blue (maybe it's the same as the "light purple" reported by others?), the same color I got with the unit during the BF sale. I'll take a picture of them after work.

On a sad note I broke my longer aroma tube yesterday. Dropped it while shaking out the ABV and half of the herb chamber at the bottom broke off :(

Guess I'll order 2-3 more to save on shipping in case it happens again. This has probably been covered but I only see one size on the accessory page. Do you not get a choice of long or short? I'd like a couple backups of each if that's possible.

I think someone said it's only the shorter tube you can buy? If not, the other way around. At least at that point. Since then it seems the longer one has been changed?

Please let us know what you find out? TIA

Hi All, I joined FC a few years ago, learned about & purchased a couple Aromazaps from the most gracious Rick. Was sad to hear what happened to him but he sounds really good now anyway. I was fortunate to partake of his handiwork...

Anyway, even more fortunately, I heard about the Air here & took advantage of The BF sale. Love love love this critter! Fantastic flavor & temp control. I am eagerly following the discussion about batteries & chargers. My batteries from Arizer are light blue.

Took the Air out recently & sadly the longer stem broke right at the mouthpiece, so the very top, threaded part of the stem is stuck in the mouthpiece. Anyone know how to get it out safely? I've already ordered replacements from Arizer but yes, it is hard to tell which size they are.

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right

I asked Arizer (on12/15)about the replacement tubes. They replied:
"The Air Glass Aroma Tubes available for purchase are the slightly longer/larger tube you received with your unit."

Bummer. Two ideas on removal of the roach. You can glue a stick on it (hot melt glue would be my first choice here and twist it out. Sometimes you get lucky and a tapered wood peg like a golf tee or wooden pencil can get a good enough grip 'barefoot'. Putting it all in the freezer might help 'break it loose'.

Or you can take a scribe or needle nose pliers and chip the glass away (be sure to wear glasses and contain the shards of glass. I usually do such things inside the garbage can.

Good luck with it.

Cool, thanks. Good news for some I think. If, for instance, you get the 'new style' long stem (without the plastic top).....

IMO they make good stems in Solo as well. Might have to get some spares 'next time'.

I can confirm. I ordered extra aroma rubes and had asked for the shorter ones in the comments section of my order. When I got the longer ones, I followed up with an email and they told me that the shorter ones were not available to purchase.

That's too bad. The short stem has been my most used stem. I better be careful with it.:uhoh:

Too late for me. I dropped my short one and broke it within a few days of getting my Air and it apparently can't be replaced (at least not right now).

If anyone prefers the longer ones and wants to sell or trade their shorty, send me a PM.
