Hey folks, I got a little holiday cash, so I thought I would invest in a new unit for myself. But I can't quite decide between the Ascent or the Solo. So, I thought I'd ask you guys/gals for some feedback on the matter. I was wondering how they compare to each other and if the Ascent is worth investing the extra cash in from what you can score a Solo for. I have personally used a friend's Solo many times and think it's a great little machine but I have never tried out a Ascent so not sure how they would compare. Really just looking at all around performance and taste quailty.... stealthiness is not really an important factor....

I have both, if you need your vape to be pocketable get the Ascent, but if you can handle it not being pocketable definitely go for the Solo

I own both and I personally think the ascent is a better vaporizer. Over all vapor quality is just better to me with the ascent.

When I was shopping for my first vaporizer. I skipped the Arizer Solo because it wasn't "sexy" enough for me. Instead I opted for the newer Davinci Ascent.

The Ascent is a nice vape, but it had a big issue in the beginning with failures due to the rotating hinge (wires were snapping/breaking loose from the PCB's due to repeated opens/closes - clearly nobody at Davinci did any testing on the original 1AA1 units to determine how many times it could be opened before failure of the device!)

Overall, I like my Davinci (My wife won't let me sell it because it's the best tasting vape I own for low temp flavorful hits!). But I really regret not buying the Solo as my first vape!

I think you've narrowed it down to two good choices, good luck on your decision!

Since having gotten both recently, I found the Ascent to be a delicate instrument, and the Solo to be a durable tank. Bombproof.

So, if you treat your possessions like valuables, the beautiful Ascent is a jewel, whereas your durable Solo will keep you toasty warm, without worries.

Taste wise, the delicate Ascent may seem to taste more refined, where the larger diameter Solo pulls like Henry VIII! Depends.

(If you can drop some extra change, I would consider getting its more portable successor. The slimmer, trimmer, New. Air. The mini-Solo.)

You may also consider getting both. Each will feed your nascent need for that Dreaded Dream.

I'm hitting the solo right now waiting for my ascent to show up, I plan on using the solo as a workhorse and puttin it through quite the grind. I plan on using the ascent around the house or road trips. But it might change! Good luck!

I would say it's still a good idea to only open the bowl to "Stage 1" and not all the way to "Stage 2," if it can be avoided, just to be safe.

And low temp hits on the Ascent can be wonderful. Especially around 335...

Leave it to young stoners, kid in town just got his before Xmas, latch is sheared, oil caps asunder, can't find his charger.

The hinge is next.

If you are looking for overall performance go with the Solo. I have both vaporizers. I really love the Ascent and it has good flavor, it's a very beautiful unit in person. But I would go with the Solo. The Solos been in the market place a long time, 3 years, Arizer just upgraded the airflow issues some folks had.

You can buy a Solo + D020 Bubbler and Planetvape GonG for around $200. You will get more for your $200 if you go that route. Just my opinion. The Solo works really well with water tools. Check out both threads and make up you own mind.

What works best for one person isn't necessarily right for someone else. It's hard to buy something when you're not sure which one to buy? I realize we can only go by the suggestions of others sometimes. Both vaporizers you can use while charging and they both have good flavor.

The Solo takes a bit less herb than the Ascent. Folks have been using a spacer because the Ascent has a large oven. The herb flies around inside if you don't fill up the oven or use the spacer. Folks have been buying these glass flowers from Amazon to use inside the oven as spacers. I personally use about 5 of the glass glowers when I vaporize.

Maybe eventually you can afford both units. It's good to have more than one vaporizer just in case the other one goes on the blink (breaks).

The Solo is indeed the workhorse of Portables. It's very sturdy and well built.

Good luck on your journey to be combustion free.

Your first two paragraphs captured everything I was trying to articulate.

Thanks for the feedback guys!! The Solo seems to be a very popular model, seeing how long the thread is here with mostly good feedback. I know I really enjoy using my friends when I visit, so it was probably just a hair ahead in the race as my top choice. I had also looked at Arizer Air, but it being new I was a little put off. Figured it may be best and wait till they get those first few kinks worked out that always seems to come up with new products first on the market.

You are right on. Although since it seems like it is basically the Solo on a diet, which is appealing to my aesthetics, and it's design is based on the Solo, by the company which designed the Solo, with a lock N load interchangeable battery, there should be few issues with the slim heater.

Again, you are right on, it is wise to wait until all has been "Air"-ed out. & the price, just right.

I'd wager that the issues will be more user mistakes, like putting in batteries which may give more bang than vapor.

Best wishes on your ( fine ) choice, whichever it may be.

I understand the hesitation to get an air, generally new vapes are a no-no for me... However, i jumped on the air, because arizer made it and i trust them for the most part. I just wanted to say that i haven't been disappointed yet. If you want to be cooler than your friend with a solo, then get an air. If you want to be as cool as the guy with a solo, then be the guy with the solo.
