Great Scott!
Also, a day after I got my crafty it started acting weird. It wouldn't connect to the app. I tried using it while charging and it started flashing red and blue. Anybody know what to do?

Might be another death due to charging while using, something I've still never done since it killed my first crafty.

Ummm I just found this thread and am a little overwhelmed by all the posts in a short amount of time. I started reading but didn't get that far. Would someone mind giving me a quick catch up explanation of what is going on with this vape. Is this the best new portable? How does it compare to others? Is it worth the high price tag? Is a whip the only way to connect it to a water pipe?

Sorry for being lazy. Please tag me in your response. Thank you

It all depends what you're looking for in a portable vape. For me, it's exactly what I've been wanting for a LONG time.

The Crafty/Mighty are easy, no learning curve vapes that are HEAVY HITTERS. I love my EVO, and wanted a flower vape that didn't leave me missing my EVO when on the road. This thing is it. And the flavor is very nice too.

If I rated my EVO a 9.5 on cloud production and taste, I'd give my Crafty a 9 on cloud production and an 8-8.5 on taste. The fact that it even competes with the EVO is a miracle in my mind.

There are several ways to connect to a water pipe. You can use the whip set up with either a reducer or the EQ whip setup. You can also cut an extra cooling unit and JB Weld a GonG to it. Ratchett is also just about to release a SonG adapter that fits onto the mouthpiece.

The Crafty and Mighty are fairly similar. Crafty has a 27W heater, the Mighty has a 30W heater, so performance is very comparable. The main difference is the Crafty is smaller, at the cost of battery life. The Mighty has twice the battery of the Crafty and an LCD screen to control temp. The Crafty has two temps accessible from the unit itself. You can alter these temps with the bluetooth app it uses.

Bottom line, if you have the cash want an easy to use, hard hitting vape, there isn't a better choice for my needs.

The red and blue just means it needs to cool down, takes about a minute then it will continue to charge as normal

Does it continue to do this, or just for a short time? Sounds like the unit was too hot to charge safely, and it was telling you that. I know the Crafty has safety settings to prevent it charging when either too hot/cold.

Forgive my lazy response:

Yes, it's the best portable vape, IMO compared to my use of the pax, firefly, and MFLB.

It's a steep price tag but it outperforms the aforementioned. The firefly clocked in at or over $300 w external charger and extra battery. I would pay the $100 difference all day everyday for the precision, ease of use, and vapor quality of the Crafty!

I have the Mighty which is basically the same in performance with the Crafty. Due to certain circumstances, I can't get a true desktop vape so I've been venturing into the portable scene. For a portable or even desktop, I believe S&B have nailed it. Other than a few issues: doa power adapter, connection issues with the app(Crafty), and LCD issue where it doesn't reflect the actual battery level (Mighty), these vapes are truly efficient. I get ripped off a full bowl like no other. The taste remains throughout but I just throw full nugs.

Mine came with a bad adapter but the customer service was top notch. I was using another adapter while waiting for my replacement and was able to utilize the Mighty while the battery was dead and charging. Some report that they cant do this with the Crafty.

The final piece to making this epic was pairing it with the FC-187

@Ratchett is working on an adapter.

So all in all, I personally think the S&B vapes are worth the high price tag.

@vapeppau thanks I didn't know about that thread. I get stuck in the cheap bubbler thread and forget to venture out.

@Roth thank you very much for your simple yet detailed response. It looks like I'm going to have to save up

@Volteric your lazy response was good enough to make me want one. I have tried many except the firefly but if this is that good I will skip that step and hunt down a mighty

Funny cuz I often think think of my vape experiences as a progressive evolution: atoms Raw>MFLB>pax>firefly.

The effenciency and quickness made the firefly top notch but I was the oddball out in that I preferred the flavor and portability of the Pax over the firefly.

In any case, it's been a lot of money to find that sweet spot! All I can say is that the crafty in light of these vapes is a no brainer. Of course something new and better is around the corner so take my gushing with a grain of salt. Ive gushed over each of those vapes I mentioned until something better replaced it-but that's the nature of being a vaporist for many!

Can someone tell me what the turn around time for S and B is to ship out the crafty? I ordered it wednesday thinking they would ship Friday since that's the day after Christmas but still haven't heard anything yet. Knowing S and B they probably gave their workers off the day after Christmas. You guys think it will ship monday or do they usually take a while to ship out? I thought they were supposed to have the fastest shipping? This is for America, shipping to brooklyn, NY

Just checked on my crafty. The unit is plugged in and I am not getting any blue light as in indicator that it is charging. When I try to power not on with it plugged in, it will start flashing red and stop. I'm guessing I have to send it back in. There is no red flashing light issue in the manual that I saw.

Looks like I will be without my crafty and esv for awhile. :(

Hi Very high
@jdee interesting point about the operating temps.

Its currently -2 Celsius where I live and I HAVE to vape out side on the balcony. Should be interesting to see how my crafty performs. Although its 20C inside and my crafty is in its warm draw so unless I leave it out side to drop below 5C i should be OK :ko: still blooding freezing outside!

/End rambling crafty woffle!:leaf:

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right

S&B had the holiday weekend off. Depending on how much has been ordered ahead of you it still should ship out to you on Monday. They ship overnight (but its USPS so "overnight" seems to be a loose term). Comes out of Oakland, Ca. You should have it in time for New Year's eve, etc.

~edit: In my experience they are good at answering emails and usually even answer their phone!

One complaint about this vape seems to be battery life. Can it be charged with an external USB battery via the USB port?

Presenting VapeLog, a simple Crafty client with a built in data logger for Macs with Bluetooth 4.

Based on a 1/4 DIN temperature controller the UI is incredibly simple.

Top line (PV) is the Present Value, green (SV) is the Set Value, and amber (B) is the boost temperature. Temps can be controlled with the steppers next to the "display".

Smaller "display" is the % charge on the battery. The "BATT" lamp illuminates when the battery is charging and the "HEAT" lamp illuminates when the heater is active.

Finally that "record button" actually works. Click it and tell it where to save a CSV. The recording lamp will illuminate and csv in the form "time,temperature,battery,set_temp" will be logged. This opens the door to monitoring temperature curves of your vape session. The graph below shows set temp in green and actual temp in blue. Will be interesting to compare sessions with these graphs.

The Crafty can only be connected to a single app at a time so you may need to quit (not close but quit at least on iOS) your smartphone app before using VapeLog. You will need to quit VapeLog before the Crafty will talk to your smartphone again.

VapeLog only allows you to monitor and change temperatures, there is no support for making other changes to your Crafty such as changing LED settings at this time.

The major known issue is sometimes the Set Point gets a bit out of sync with the crafty after making a large temperature change. You may see the set point changing on its own a few times but rest assured it will settle on the temp you selected. All measurements are in ºC. This is not a bug nor is this a limitation. :)

This requires OS X 10.10 (Yosemite). I don't think it actually uses anything Yosemite only so if there's a ton of people on 10.9 or even 10.8 I may be able to change a few settings and get a build that works for you.

I did not code-sign the bundle so you may need to work around gatekeeper.
