We're here to fuck shit up.
the reason these chinese pieces are even selling is because of the extremely low cost to produce a brand/style that's been overhyped over here, lots of profit to be made off melted sand

edit. disclaimer, i've been drinking...
I don't understand what you mean? I haven't seen any carbon copies of existing pieces yet (getting extremely close to looking exactly like a Mobius, but don't believe they'll ever be able to exactly replicate the Matrix perc), but it does look like that's where it's headed.

There are differences in quality. The Chinese products are well built, but there are flaws that get overlooked. I've collected both Chinese and US made glass and there is an absolute difference in quality. The Chinese quality is great for its price point, but that price point seems to be gradually rising. I remember getting my first three Chinese bubblers for about $45 total.

I've also had janky shit American glass too. It all depends on the artist. I wouldn't pay $3k for an MS Torus, but I'd probably plunk down $1k because of the quality of the design and build. I wouldn't pay for a carbon copy from another maker, but if that maker adds colors and worked sections, changes the neck and mouthpiece design, adds opals, adds horns, adds shields, etc... Then I would absolutely consider it.

@Deadshort480 you are 100% correct about the second hand sales. I guess that even though 1k is pretty steep for a new ship it is conceivable. I don't even know where you would get a ship directly these days. They are instantaneous sold out and flipped for insane profit. My buddy just got an 8.5 inch clear fab egg for 3600 and thinks he is king shit. He is dumb and his no driving ass should have gotten a decent used car

He's absolutely part of the problem. 3600 on a Prodo Egg is ridiculous. No car?! I'd kick my own ass on a daily basis if my priorities were so effed up. He spent 3600 dollars on a piece that pretty much anyone can own instead of buying a one of a kind Darby, Joe P, Elbo, Earl Jr., Down Neck, etc.... You need to smack that guy in the melon.

i think i meant china is just going to keep reproducing styles that are more or less proven winners and probably not spend much time or resources on making things unique or "their own"

FYI, this is the link Steven sent me of his next piece that he expects to be ready in a week. Looks interesting, but not something I need at this time. I'll probably be interested in the larger Pillar, however.

I see now you have pics and water test of this piece back on page 12

Knock-offs and counterfeiting products is like Sport in China. Is is not about innovation for them. It is about seeing the real item and making what they think looks the same with function being secondary.

I just received my FC-187 in the mail. The box was in good condition compared to many I have ordered from China. The 187 was safe and packaged well. Lots of bubble wrap and some random pieces of Styrofoam, also the tea he promised me for my help.

I am very pleased with the piece. It does not appear to have any serious flaws and looks just like the pictures in the listing. There is nothing I dislike about it contrary to what some other members have said about theirs. My perc is has pretty clean cuts and is centered better than my original 187. Perc height and quality appears to be the same between the GB-187 and FC-187. I like the angle of the neck which is what we seemed to have agreed on before production. The original prototype was at a lower angle and people said change it. Should we have left that alone?

I like the mouthpiece but can understand where some people would have a problem making a seal. I have pretty full lips.

I really couldn't be more happy for $40 but since he only made 100 in the first production run I am happy to discuss potential changes for the next batch. FC-187v2

Are all your percs firing?? Thats the only problem i have with mine....doesnt hurt the functionality and ive been rippin from it all weekend.....steven sent me a happy nye message(i assume he sent them to everyone) on the same day i received mine,so i mentioned it in my return message....he thanked me and saidhe would try and improve the percs on the next run.....as far as the mouthpiece,i dont have a problem but i can see how some might? I like the angle and placement of the mp.....i'll buy from steven again for sure.....now i want something specifically for dabs.....

@VJJJV hahaha I was waiting for someone to say it. After hearing complaints from some other members I wasn't sure if I got an awesome one or if people were being overly critical. I don't know if I got a better one through anything other than luck of the draw but mine is pretty much perfect.

The perc is even cuts all the way around and good band placement. It fires pretty evenly all the way around. The bubbles never really make it to the bottom holes though. When I'm hitting it with my nano it bubbles mostly out the top row and then on the clear it bubbles from the top and the Middle.

I have been heavily medicating with it since yesterday and am thinking about selling my original 187 because I like this more

Well so far everything I got from china has been rather flawless, so I guess I'm important too. KNEEL you peasants!

Theyre certainly getting better on their percs. I personally would like to see a 186 converted into a Klein. I actually donated my 186 for this to happen but Doughboy never did the job. I believe it would be a fantastic combination. I sketched it out but he has my sketch and I doubt I ever get it back but Id only use a single uptake personally. When you start playing with the number of tubes and the size of the tubes, interesting things happen.

@PoopMachine the Trey situation is definitely disappointing. I know that some people where campaigning for the stereo matrix perc in the 242 I'm working on. This design is going to be a single matrix but perhaps a stereo matrix klein would be to their liking. Some sort of FC design that isn't ripping off an already existing piece

I think a stereo Matrix would be needed to get the water moving but thats just my opinion. I saw the double uptake/single Matrix piece a couple of pages back. Should be interesting.

Im not going to go into details on the Trey situation but disappointing is one word you could use.

My gb-187 v2 took a fall today. I think it would have survived except it was attached to my e-nail. The downstem broke at the joint. All broken glass stayed inside. The MP, base and can were unscathed. Total bummer! Luckily the nail was off! Now I just need that FC-187 to hurry up!

I honestly think that the 187 would function equally well without the gridding. It would be one less thing to mess up. It would probably get better flavor and the number of slits it has offers plenty of diffusion without being gridded.

Just a thought for v2 but I doubt that many people will agree. The matrix perc has a strong following here

edit: perhaps instead of a 187v2 it would be like an FC20 and be an improvement on the D020

Agreed would also be more oil friendly.

I've been using my FC-187 all weekend. While it does work and I do like it. My perc is absolutely horribly cut - one of the horizontal bands looks like the dude was drunk while cutting it - some gaps are 0.1mm big, then it opens up to over 1mm - making it favor one side much more than the other side of my perc.

I'm really interested in seeing what else Steven can make, but I'm really not impressed with his matrix perc - that would be my only complaint with the piece - build quality is fine, mouthpiece is more or less fine. But holy crap my perc is pretty rough.

I'll try to grab some pictures later to show what I mean.

Doesn't mean I'm not going to buy from Steven again, but I will probably hold off on ordering from the first 'batch' of any future concept glass.

Shame too - I am REALLY interested in that FC-242

Thanks for the effort to work with Steven @blankrider

Just be happy you actually received yours @Ratchett. Mine still sits in Jamaica New York limbo. Been there 8 days now. Probably just gonna wash my hands of this one as I believe I'm a victim of the USPS black hole.
I've had several pieces held up in that location before. I believe there's some sort of customs or sorting there, but regardless what it is the employees suck!
