As far as i'm aware the charger overrides the battery, but the mighty might need to charge for about 1 minute before you can start using it on fully discharged.. this is not a big issue for me considering the heatup time is so fast. What i'd do is the moment you want to start using it, plug it in to get a bit of a charge whilst you pick your favorite herb, grind it up, fill it in the bowl, etc. by the time all that's done it should be good to go :).

On a side note I think it'd work better if when its being used plugged in charging, the auto-shutoff was extended to maybe like 5-10 minutes.. what do other users think of this? I think the reason it has a 1 minute shut off is that if you leave your herb in there its just going to cook it all.

If it did override the battery then there would be no need to wait at all...and one minute did not work for me. It seem's it's gonna have to charge quite a bit more than that.

EDIT: This sucks balls. Already going back to the Solo (which doesn't suck balls), lol...

That post is on page #42. He is referring to the manual stating that the unit can be used with a fully discharged battery when it's plugged in.

I don't know how to add the whole post in, and can't find others right now but there are.

So if the batteries can't hold a charge anymore one day then this vape will be one big paperweight, since it need's the battery to at least share some load it seems. However, the batteries can be replaced by S&B of course.

You seem to be making a pretty big leap here. Why do you assume that the batteries won't hold a charge anymore?

I think @Tanz meant that when the battery eventually loses the ability to retain a charge, and if we are unable or don't want to send it back to S&B for replacement then it appears that the Mighty will be pretty much dead in the water.

I kinda queried this in my post back on page 42 & mentioned that it seems to require around 20% charge before the heater will kick in.

you can always change the batteries yourself......if by the time warranty is over. I don't see that to be any sooner than 2 years.
I'm sure there will be aftermarket batteries and information how to change them by that time.

Alright @tdriver :)

That does indeed sound most likely but I don't think it would be everyone that would be happy to open up their device.

I just think it would be nice to know that if I was to pull Mighty out of a draw 5-10 years from now (as unliklely as that may be), I could simply plug her in & fire her up.

But I guess I really only feel this way because that is pretty much what the manual says should happen.

I think I need to get around to dropping S&B an email regarding this point to see what their take on it is . . .

My mighty also had the charging problem and it died in less then a month.

Luckily i was able to return it, i ended up getting a plenty instead as its more reliable.

Just finished testing the Mighty for endurance and pass through power from complete discharge. I got through like 5 sessions with awesome performance. Thats 3 nice big draws at 375*F and 2 huge cleanup hits through glass at 410*F to finish. Session 6 I had 2 bars on battery and I could tell Mighty was managing/heating in a reduced capacity but still functioning very well. With the slower heat up I noticed that the vibration at set temp was not quite being triggered the first time. To get the vibration it looks like it has to overshoot the set temp by about half a degree and sometimes this doesn't happen when it heats more slowly. Not a big issue, it only happened to me once during session 6 and once during session 7. Session 7 was down to one bar on battery with performance slowing even more but still usable.

Session 8 I was just starting and had zero bars and a flashing empty battery symbol come on. Mighty stopped heating and paused, like it was waiting for something. I plugged it in and it immediately started to heat. To be sure I unplugged it, and keeping the auto shutoff at bay with the power button, I ran it until it shut off completely. I then restarted my completely discharged Mighty, connected the power cord, and it started working full blast right away. So I would say that is as advertised . . . :tup:

I think that we have definitely found a bunch of faulty units from initial release. My unit is definitely giving me some funny business, I have had like 4 Err 004's today. I am returning my Mighty to be replaced under warranty. I purchased a Crafty which should be here in a day or two and that will have to tide me over til the replacement Mighty comes out to me!

Hopefully it is as S & B have told some other users and this issue has been resolved now. I want results like @t-dub !!!!

What made u get a crafty too? I was thinking about but I just couldn't justify it lol. Is it just the bugs in the mighty? Cuz mine has been a champ so far. Besides the size I don't see much of a reason for it, plus I have other smaller vapes. Let me know what you think.

I got it because I think the crafty has a genuine place, as a short outing vape. Like you go out for a morning, you take the crafty. The mighty has actually fully met my home vaping needs lately, and my replacement mighty will be continuing this, but I do think there is a place for the crafty as I only use 2 heats, one for dry hits and one for water.

I am most satisfied with the flavour and clouds and efficiency of these vapes and as I got a good discount on both, I am happy to be able to choose when I need juice over portability knowing that between the two I am completely covered wherever I am!

So long as my replacement mighty has worked out the kinks!!!

Now I am actually rather pleased to find out that my device must be faulty.

I wanna vape with a dead battery too!

Like @herbivore21, I think a warranty claim is on the horizon . . . when I feel I can bare the possibility of being without my rompin' stompin' Mighty that is - although I do have resilience, miss her I will :love:

I usually never drain my Mighty completely dead so I never noticed. Nor do I use it plugged in. It's a great unit but my Log Vapes own my plugs. But I was curious and drained it. Now the screen was coming on showing the info but would not heat up. Is this what usually happens? Anyway I plugged her in and nothing. I had to wait until it had on full bar plus a blinking bar to heat up again. I'm not to worried per the info of my use above. Still is like my unit to work as advertised. That's all folks.

Since I bought multiple vaporizers, I haven't used the mighty exclusively. I'll have one or two sessions and it works great. Maybe I should drain all the way and see if it works plugging it in with 0 bars. However, my last session with the mighty had less pop than usual.

So based on what I've read and after a raving review by t-dub I went ahead and ordered a Mighty today. Unfortunately I didn't make the 10am cut off time for same day but I was told it would ship tomorrow!
