Thanks for the heads up dude just managed to grab one :)
I want to pick up an AIR, but now this price has me frozen. Not sure whether to pay the $$$ & go thru ARIZER (also with access to all accessories), or gamble on ordering something from canada. Would it take longer to arrive from Canada? :hmm: (I live in the South East)

It took a little less than a week for me to get my Air through Arizer. Are vaporizer.ca an authorized seller? Will they back the product in case of a faulty unit? The Air isn't suppose to be out in the vaping stores until January? That's what we thought?

Good luck and happy vaping. The Air is a handy portable for on the go.

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right

Arizer is in Canada so if you order from them it comes from Canada.

I'm trying to find it again, but, FWIW on another forum it was stated (re the Solo) that they are an authorized dealer so Arizer would honor the warranty.

I sent an email to Arizer asking if they were an "authorized dealer", but being the holiday weekend I don't expect to hear back from them until perhaps Tuesday.

If its a special sale then you have to decide sooner. Otherwise you can wait on an official response from Arizer...at some point.

~edit: Actually I guess I read it on their website http://vaporizers.ca/apps/search_reactor?q=authorized+dealer They state :"We are an authorized dealer and offer direct warranty support."

Battery charging stations are not going to damage your Air. The most that a bad charger will do is damage your battery.

The Nitecore intellechargers i4 and i2 have proven to be safe over time with scores of batteries as they must work safely with batteries like IMR/li-ion and Ni-Mh/Ni-Cd battery types and all brands. Charging batteries is their business and there is too much liability for them not to have done it right. If these chargers were unsafe in any way they would be off the market by now. Nitecore sells hundreds of thousands of their chargers.

The charger Arizer is selling has not been through the public use testing gauntlet. The strongest indicator that this is just a very inexpensive charger that Arizer is making serious bank off you — $45 big ones. It is more costly than most of the finest battery chargers on the market while identical looking chargers on the web are selling for under $8 dollars. I know price gouging when I see it. Using an alternative charger to Arizer's is a non-issue if you go with a well known brand. :2c:

I am using an inexpensive i4 and I am getting just over 55 minutes on average with my Air. I can't ask for anything better. Also the batteries never even get warm while charging.

This +100000! I think I would be more swayed to consider buying the $45 authorized charger if it didn't look so cheap (not even Arizer branded). I don't like the looks of those spring contacts, reminds me of a cheap electronic toy and I could see them being damaged easily if you aren't careful and then you're out $45.
Whereas if I buy a Nitecore (or similar reputable brand charger) for $10-15 and for whatever freak accidental reason it damages a battery, I'm just out $18 for a new battery. I would just like to hear their justification for the pricing on such a cheap looking charger. I can't remember, has anyone bought the official Arizer charger yet? I'd love to hear feedback, might help sway me.

I plan on getting the Tenergy 18650 charger to use with the Air when I get it. @OF, I know your advice will still be to use the internal charger until we know more but the reasons TET selected it for the Cera would seem to apply equally here.

I don't know much about batteries but I'm not sure what the big fuss is about sticking with the stock batteries. Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't a battery that is the right size and at least matches the stock battery in continuos discharge capability be OK?

Hello fun friends. I have now popped up on the arizer air nth read because I realize that for real portability I'm gonna have to break down, save up and buy the air. Having said that I did have all kinds of fun in a little bitty music club in Baltimore which had its annual tribute to Jerry Garica called a Very Jerry Xmas and the solo was able to join in but it wasn't as portable as the pax - which I did see a few of or the little pens filled with oil which I really thought was a unicorn until I got to not only see it but try it. And then I was given a little piece of Colo milk choc by this friend of my friend and I turned to him and said " who are you -the candy man ?". Then the band broke out into Candyman so I suppose that is the a very Jerry Xmas.

No, AFAIK nobody has (then again they've only been offered for a short time). All the 'expert speculation' is based on a couple of photos and Arizer's statements advising against substitutions for safety reasons.

They also sate doing so (using another charger or different 'battery') will void the warranty, something of value to some and something never mentioned with the advice on 'better' chargers. Not to question anyone's honesty, but if they did substitute and had a failure (related or not) I bet some/many would quietly put the factory battery in and send it in anyway?

It's your call, of course. But not knowing why Arizer made that choice (and why TV did theirs) I'm not at all sure the reasons are the same. IMO the applications are very different.

No, physical size and discharge current are not the only factors in play here, nor do I think we really know what those factors are WRT Air. I'm sure we'll eventually get to the bottom of this but for now taking guesses based on what is known is a risk each owner can make for himself (or not). But I don't want to get involved in risking others by encouraging them my with guesses. For now, the warranty and safety issues from the maker trump all that.

While I get opinions and all, I don't think the 'justification' here is all that solid. There are two models of a charger that looks (very?) similar in photographs identified by Pipes. Two that look very much alike and differ in at least one very important feature, final voltage. One pretty typical, one very different and potentially very bad on some cells ("batteries"). Fatal even and it carries the warning "This charger is designed for 4.35V capable lithium ion batteries. Before charging, verify that your battery allows 4.35V maximum voltage."

In my experience charger manufacturers use the same molds across various lines and types of chargers. When you are making a large purchase of chargers, you get to select various parameters such as upper level cut off and charging current. The price justification is beyond my pay grade - but while this charger may look identical to cheaper ones available (and might even have the exact same internal components) they could very well be tuned completely differently and the stock one may very well be able to take advantage of an extra capacity unavailable to traditional units. Whether that would be worth the money is up to you.

That being said, I think the only real harm possible here is if someone tried charging an unprotected li-ion cell that was designed for a cut off voltage of 4.2V. Using a third party charger that has a lower cutoff would simply mean that you don't get to take advantage of the extra storage capacity. The only issues I've ever had with my nitecore charger have been my fault (inserting batteries backwards) - I've never heard of them failing to detect a charged cell. If this was an issue with the design I would hope we would heard of it from the hundreds of thousands of people using them regularly on flashlight and ecig forums. I've only seen one thread related to this issue and it was ultimately a misunderstanding.

I am still in the process of doing some battery testing, but I found some interesting results so far. Most of the batteries I've tested have done well, and on average they last for six sessions. I've included my completed chart for the medium use testing, which compares five 18650 cells performance in the Air. It doesn't really show the difference in vapor quality between them, but the description on the side tries to describe the differences in experiences between the cells.

One rather important thing that I have noted in my testing is that the Air has a rather low cut off voltage. Most of the cells that I tested stopped providing enough power to sustain vaporizing at around 3.3 V, but the air would continue to draw until around 3.0 V. This is a low enough cut off voltage that it could pose issues for some types of third-party cells. I am using third-party cells like the NCR18650B's in my daily use of the unit, but I am making a point of replacing them before they drop to around 25% of their usual range to prevent over discharge.

I'm finding the LG cells to be the closest thing to stock performance out of the collection I currently have. It's looking to be a couple of weeks before I will be able to get an order of BAK cells in, but I'm hoping to have a bunch soon.

Longislandmom welcome , it's good to see another li'er around these parts . Grab the air you'll love it for its portability if you already love the solo. I'm having fun with mine and I'm gonna grab a goboof Alfa also for its small size .

I have been using my nitecore charger and Panasonic 18650b's every day since I got my air with great success . Now I don't reccomend this to everyone but I don't mind voiding my warranty for testing. I also have not run them down to 0 and take them out after about 4-5 sessions. I feel they have worked just as well as the stock battery . Centizen def seems more qualified in this department to give his advice. So I'd def pay attention to his testing. I just happened to already have allot of spare batteries and took a holiday trip where I couldn't recharge so they came in handy for that. Also have noticed the air usually gets to temp quicker when a battery is freshly charged and takes a bit longer after a session or two. I have found this with using the stock and panny cells.

Just wanting to mention that I bought an AA last week as a backup portable to my inhalater, and have been loving it so far. Very nicely built unit which provides vapor as tasty as the solo.
Battery life is much shorter but fine for me as I have extra batteries which I use with my external charger, and the fact that it's a backup (or will be once the newness factor fades a bit).
Great little unit!

For some people maybe.

Lets compare than , air is same price/cheaper if you choose inh05s, air uses better materials, air tastes better, air gets better clouds, air has more accessories, arizer is a better company overall.

Inh faster heat up. Inh chargers faster

They are the same price, basically, unless you get in on a sale. 05 is 250 unshipped. AA is 259 unshipped.

05s is like 300 and its basically the same thing.

I see you are referring to the S, apologies, my bad. It's not necessary to get the S...the 05 performs fine without that elusive upgrade. Now I'm done beiing off topic.

Has anyone cleaned out their air yet? I've got a few stains building up from the few times ididnt ppackdown the bowl enough and some herb got cooked directly on the heater. I know i read using a qtip with some alcohol but idk what's underneath and don't wanna risk any dripping down those little holes.

ThAts about the only way I know how to do it. Just use the tiniest drop of alchohol so there is nothing that can drip. Dip the q tip in alchohol and than squeeze it out with your fingers until it's just moist . Than clean and keep repeating until it's fully clean. You may have to use a few q tips . Oh and it also helps if the heater is slightly wArm. So I'd say about 2-5 minutes after you shut the unit off from a session. Def do not clean while it's on though.
What would happen if some alcohol dripped down the holes in the heating chamber? I usually clean mine when I'm baked and don't squeeze out the qtip lol. Is it true that the metal can get rusty? I use 70% ISO

Thanks man. That's what I've been doing lol. Just wondering if it was easier or better to clean after taking apart like one of the pics in the beginning of the thread. Think it was @OF who took it apart.
Hold the Air upside down when cleaning,
And someone mentioned using an No2 screen with ISO'd q tip to scrub the chamber on the Solo. Worth a shot.
Don't have that screen but that's a good idea to clean upside down. Thanks

No idea what would happen but I'd prefer not to find out lol. I use 90%+

No, it's not a good idea. And yes, I'm the one who took his apart (and voided the warranty in the process) There is no advantage I could see and (if you check the text that went with it) I had to remove a hidden burr to get it to go back together. I sure don't want to encourage anybody to disassemble theirs, possibly lose or cross thread the tiny screws, get it hung up on a similar burr and be unable to reassemble or any other such accident that might render their unit useless and out of warranty.

My advice is to stick to the maker's instructions.

Your call, of course, but IMO it's not smart to do such things based on a photo you thought you saw without at least considering the information that went with that photo.........

Hey what would you guys say about this charger?
I do not know; from what I understand no one can tell you currently. If you wanted to try a cheap alternative, this one looks *similar* to the official ARIZER device. At least the photo of it does. Even if the externals of each charger are the same, supposedly the internals/specs could differ. I don't know much about this stuff either.. :nope:
