For some reason, im the only person I know that has not found a problem with airflow. Almost everyone I know says you have to pull hard or it feels restricted. I usually tell them:1.You are drawing too hard. 2. Clean your PAX. Fixes it every time.
The only problem I've ever had was having to load it full. I was always too medicated. I never liked half sessions with the PAX. If you load full, use a little, then shut off, it takes time to cool down and your material is still cooking=the air is enjoying your meds. With the screen trick, I will say, I enjoy vaping on the low setting more than I ever had before.

Yea, the key is keeping it clean. After I do a thorough cleaning, it works great. But you got to clean it SO MUCH!!!!!!

It depends how much you use it. I find a weekly cleaning to be enough to keep it running smoothly, even with heavy use. You also want to avoid tipping it upside down while the oven is hot as resin will build up more quickly this way. I really don't find the cleaning to be too difficult or time-consuming. 10 minutes at the most for a very thorough cleaning, which includes getting the cleaning supplies out and putting them away. After that, you get to load it up and enjoy some herbs out of your freshly cleaned PAX. What a great feeling.

For the people that like to pack tight full bowls (so I don't have to repack during the day)Do you stir your herbs mid session? Any techniques to keep the combustion and heat to a minimum? I tend to use orange the most, but want to go down to yellow. If I put a dab of wax, red from the start.

Secondly, what do you stir with? I tend to use wooden chopsticks from the restaurants I eat at.

Anybody use this accessory for the pax. I am no a seller.

Awesome I've never seen the silicon sleeves thanks! Good little review on the pusher and screen, I figured it would be too hot to handle the handle haha. And some good points to know about the screen. Don't really like the idea of the screen being loose and being hot sounds more fiddly than its worth.

Can you load different sized amounts with the pusher/screen? It looked a bit like you'd only get a certain sized load in it.

With my volcano pad spacer (ss wool) it never really gets that hot to touch but still conducts the heat in use. So you can pull it out whenever, and it has springy/squishy properties so I can be flexible with load size and still have it compress the different sized loads.

It is great at different sized loads. I'm thinking it will make it a .2 chamber instead of .3 if u only use the screen... With the spacer, prob .1....so this accessory is good for getting consistency in different load sizes.

Hey guys, I'm still having problems with my mouthpiece sticking... I've cleaned and cleaned it and put plenty of lube on it....I've cleaned around the spring as well... at times the mouthpiece works ok and goes up and down like it should and then it will get stuck again after one or two sessions.. and i have to remove it with pliers. Sometimes the whole mouthpiece will come out and sometimes just the plastic piece... somethings the mouthpiece will come out and only have the first metal tube attached while the bottom metal piece with the catch groove will stay stuck. thats where i am now... the plastic and the first section of metal tube came out but the bottom part with the catch groove is stuck..... Usually I can get the bottom part to pop back up.... but so far I haven't been able to this time... is there some type of release button or something I can hit to make the bottom tube that's on the mouthpiece...

Not trying to double post here, but I didn't see a way to edit my original thread....

Update.. I did manage to get the bottom part of the mouthpiece tube out... and got it re assembled... now it seems to be fitting in better and it makes the clicking sound when you press down only it don't pop on up.. when you press it down it clicks and starts to come up but just stops.

@DopeFight Not to respond as if you aren't familiar with your PAX but just a few questions:
1) What's the temp like where you are located
2) Are you sure MP ss tube is 100% clean? Sometimes it appears as if its clean but if you grip it tight with a paper towel and go around it you might see its dirtier than some think.
3) How are you cleaning around the SS vapor path on top of the actual unit?
4) whats the condition of the springing the unit?
5) Have you tried blowing a breath of hot air over where the mouth peice clicks in?

It may not be a maintenance issue but just trying to play process of elimination.

I made this for a fellow on reddit who was asking about the size difference in the Pax and Air

1. I live in southeast Ga... lot of humidity.. been about 60 deg
2. Pretty sure... I cleaned it with pipe cleaners, 91% Alcohol, little dental brushes.
3. A dental brush dipped in alcohol. ran around the edges & up and along the spring.
4. I guess its fine, its in there and will move around side to side
5. Yes I did, and I've tried the blow dryer trick.... which didn't seem to help...

From what I can tell, I think it's not catching right... I noticed that if it gets past one click it wont come up... but if it don't go past that one click it will usually pop out... but when its only in the first click..it wont charge without something pressing down lightly on the unit.... and it can pop out when using it because its not quite down far enough.... it seems at times the bottom part of the mouth piece metal steam is getting stuck....

Uhh I dont think so.... I got a new mouthpiece and seem to be having the same trouble.. it got stuck again right off.... and i had to use plires again to pull it out... and the stainless steel piece came out of the plastic piece... since i cleaned it really good again... especially up around the mouthpiece spring area..... another thing i noticed is a lot of times when its stuck down it wont even make a clicking noise... just push down and it goes down then noting....

There is that metal peice in the unit that moves when pressed down with the MP ss tube. Is that functioning properly?

What about contacting ploom?

Yea there was a small steel ring/fitting that was on the steel tube that was in the plastic mouthpiece. I somehow lost the first one...when I ordered the new one and it got stuck the fist time. I had to pull it out and the plastic piece came off the steel tube. Every since then it would cause a lot of problems, like when I would have to pull the mouthpiece out often times only the top half of the steel tube would come out and the ring and bottom part would be stuck. I started using the old mouthpiece with no ring... now it wont come up on its own.. but if I pull off the plastic part I can grab the steel tube and take it out and it still together. When I do that I can put the steel tube back in the mouthpiece push it down a little to it connects and vape away. Just a little annoying not to be able to push the button and it pop right up... I had thought of contacting Ploom.... but I read pulling off the mouthpiece voids the warranty... and I can not find my warranty anywhere.. Found them to all my other units but not the Pax, being it's the one I need.

If you are missing that steel ring you will have trouble. I don't think the warranty would be void just for pulling the mouthpiece apart. It doesn't apply if you disassemble the Pax, but I think that's to stop people like me from taking it apart completely. The warranty didn't exclude disassembly when I took mine apart, that was added later. Currently it says:

Intentionally opening up or disassembling your device in any way will void your warranty.

I suppose you can argue that you didn't intentionally take it apart. You should contact Ploom and see what they can do for you. Even if the warranty doesn't apply, you can get a new MP for $20.

So no one thinks they can use the ploom "model two" in a similar way to the imag plus? I was in my local head shop yesterday and they had some ploom "model twos" there on display. I took off the mouth piece and looked inside and it was just a little stainless steel cup exactly like the imag but probably twice as small. It seems like you could just stuff .2 in there and let it rip, but idk mabye someone else here that has tryed one can comment. I can say that it felt cheaply made IMO and they were on sale for 35$ lol witch hardly ever a price that you can find a good vape at.

Revisited my PAX in the last couple of weeks. Came up with a small silicone sleeve from an e-cig that allowed me to put it in a 14mmto18mm flush glass adapter.

Wow, it performs better than I thought.

've bought a Crater vaporizer for £139 here in UK and it's awesome! I've been using it for 3 months now and I can't have a bad word about it, it's exactly what you expect from a portable weed vaporizer, it bakes you properly. It's an alternative for Pax lovers in the UK, make sure you don't buy fakes.
www.mycrater.co.uk
I'm not sure if I understand the definition of "fake". I went to the Crater website and it looks like a "fake" Pax. Isn't that what it is?

"fake" refers to trademark infringement. Since Crater is a different brand, they never claimed they are Pax Ploom, they are not fake, they are a rebrand, meaning Crater takes responsibility for their product, while if you buy a fake Pax Ploom, after a few months you will end up loosing track of the seller, fake product sellers come and go on ebay and other websites, because they risk their freedom, so they need to hide.
With a responsible brand like Crater, you are insured for warranty, customer service, CE marking and other legal requirements and you make sure you don't support illegal activity and tax evasion.
I understand what your saying. The Crater product has obviously used the information from Ploom and produced what looks like an identical product; whether it's as good I have no idea. If it's legal to do this, I understand why Crater would want to copy the Pax however I have to say this strikes me as being dishonest even if it is legal.

My question would be what's more important for you: your safety or honesty? We live in a dishonest word anyhow, this is 2015. Our politicians, the supermarkets, etc. are dishonest. There is no honesty in business, only profit, while good customer service and good quality products are necessary for the development of a business.

Hi charles3, I'm curious, do you have any connection with Crater? All of your posts have been in praise of this device and while that's certainly not a crime, it makes me a little suspicious.

If you've got the design and manufacturing capability to make a Pax clone, why not make it look a little different, with different colors and maybe some design improvements? That seems to be the approach of companies such as DaVinci, who have tried to outdesign Ploom. This seems more legit to me as a consumer. My Pax is teriffic, but it's not without design flaws.

Hey Pax thread. Just wanted to drop a line and say I used my PAX last night through my D020 and milked it up. It works very well and have been using this semi-GonG attachtment I rigged up for a little while and am very satisfied with the results. Everyone needs to try this.

Used my Pax for the first time in months at a festival and I was blown away again. I almost forgot the amount of clouds this thing can produce from a loaded oven.

It may not be the cheapest, most efficient, or best tasting portable out there but after nearly three years in my possession, I still think it's one of the best portables for flower. It is a bitch to keep clean but the portability factor is second to none and Ploom's customer service is top notch.

To make a long story short, the Pax still kicks ass.

I'm sure it's discussed several times through out this thread and I found quite a few tips but none of them have fixed my issue. So if anyone can add a tip here, it would be really appreciated. All of a sudden my mouthpiece does not want to close and stay in the off position. When I push down it will make the first click but when I ease my thumb off it usually flies out like a rocket. So far I have gave it a good cleaning with a little extra care up top where the mouthpiece fits onto the tube and put a few drops of lube and worked in by pushing the mouthpiece up and down a few times. I've tried pressing down slow and easy on the far side where the vapor tube is and release my thumb very slowly. I've noticed at times it will close just enough to turn the unit off but if its bumped or put onto the charging dock it will jump off.
