reading through the thread i didn't see my favorite so here it is...
Jon Anderson (lead singer for YES back in the day)... it was his "Three Ships" Christmas album. The whole things is IMO one of the best RR Holiday albums.

Here is his rendition of "Oh Holy Night":

Here is "Three Ships" a classic:

My other favorite is Cannon Rock by Trans Siberian Orchestra:

and an amazing all instrumental version of the same "Cannon Rock" in D:

Cheers,

Thom

PS: I ran 8 record shops (yes we had vinyl & 8 tracks!) back in the 1970's and 80's. Fun stuff

I love all Christmas music, but for those looking for different, I have a compilation album to suggest: A Lump of Coal. Twas The Night Before Christmas as read by Henry Rollins is very different than what you have heard before.

Here is a link to one of the songs off that album, this by the Hoodoo Gurus:

I also love Weird Al's Christmas at Ground Zero:

The other day I did hear "Frosty The Snowman" by Willie Nelson.
If I remember correctly , it sucked--- even when I tried to imagine it was
"Frosty The Bud- Man" that he was singing about ;)

"It's All Going To Pot" was much better. It celebrates a green holiday session, I mean season...

I miss Luther Vandross. I wish I could have found the actual video with his family and him singing. I remember his Christmas Special back in the 1970s or 80s.

The Best R&B Christmas Albums

List of all Christmas R&B albums, ranked from best to worst. For many, R&B Christmas albums capture the essence of the holiday spirit. Some of the biggest bands and artists of the genre released holiday songs that were much better than the traditional songs that flooded airwaves, allowing for the popularity of R&B songs, which are among the most requested during the holiday season. The albums featured on this list are some of the most well known and popular titles of that genre, and likely introduced an entirely new audience to holiday and Christmas music. These are some of the most popular Christmas songs of all time and some of the greatest jingles in the history of music.

I listen to a few Soma FM channels and they add Christmas channels this time of year. Not your typical holiday music. :)

You may find a few other channels you enjoy here as well. I listen to Sonic Universe, Black Rock, Thistle Radio, Underground 80's and a few more.

The holiday channels are Jolly Ol' Soul, Xmas in Frisco, Christmas Rocks and Christmas Lounge.
