What top do I need for the smaller tube on the Core. I use the Persei top for the big one, but only have an omicron lite. Is it for the omicron v2.5 top? If so, can I just buy the top for the smaller tube on w9?

Thank you sir. I got the Persei for the 7.4.
Right on. Well, I'm not sure of a way to get a less expensive Omicron top for use on the core, than that link, they are $70 new from W9. Any V2 or later Omicron top should work on that Core tube; I like the SS tube+ AW 14500 for the Omi on the go.

It seems to be the best deal out there.

From what I understand operational Wattage range is simply derived from the Input Voltage x Atomizer Ohm resistance. Variable Wattage boxes just do the math the other way around, adjusting the volts as necessary to achieve the set wattage functionality. There are different ways of handling the stepping between settings and fractions of settings depending on the voltage or wattage setting and even depending on the chipset manufacturer, but they are basically controlling the same things at the end of the day.
Perhaps if the ceramic rod was a static fixed item but it is not. Its resistance changes with temperature so a variable wattage device referencing its resistance would increase voltage during use. That is my understanding, at least.

I'm still having a tough time getting the SR74 to work steadily. I can get it right, take a few hits and it seems loose connection. Do you think I need a new rod or something? Maybe a new brass tightener? I am assuming that that the rod is not staying put and slowly moves away from the center pin.

Any suggestions?

Unscrew the gold/brass center post 1/2 a turn (more or less). My center post lost its spring a few months ago & has continued to work perfectly by using this simple fix.

Thanks, man. Still no luck. I replaced my center post the other day, btw...

How are you tightening the collar on your rod? I have to use needle nose pliers to get it tight enough to prevent movement.

I am doing that as well. It just doesnt want to cooperate. I think I'll break the whole thing down, ISO it and try again.

Do you have a multimeter or resistance meter? I've found that to really help troubleshooting. My problem has always been one of 3 things.
1) screw on very bottom was too tight so it didn't make a connection below it
2) golden button was filled full of goo and was stuck
3) I didn't tighten the nut that holds the rod enough and the spring would slowly push it up with use/walking around with it.

Hope this helps. Nothing has frustrated me as much as a pile of shatter and my herc not cooperating.

Only thing to ill add to this is making sure the heater rod is low enough to compress the gold spring button inside the center post. This keeps my connection solid long past being flooded with oil.

So is the hammer top being shipped with a rod? Would love to ditch the torch for when I want an occasional dab through the rig.

The ohm tester for me (a newbie) is a must own.

From a cold herc sr74x, what is your technique? I usually hold the button 10 secs and vapor starts coming out. And then I hit it for five seconds, take a 5-10 cool off hit, and then repeat. Is there a technique you like to use (I just want to prevent leaking or overheating my oil)?

Best way I've found to prevent leaking is to position that gold washer to cover all the holes at the bottom. You still get enough air for it to work right, and it actually gets hotter faster because there's not as much cold air getting sucked in. It does restrict airflow a bit though, but I'm fine with it. I typically start hitting it and holding the button in for 10 seconds, then I let off for 5, then hold it for 5, then let off again, and keep going till I run out of lung capacity. Subsequent hits I just do 5 on and 5 off the whole time.

Other thing I do is remove that screen in the mouthpiece. Vapor condenses on it and clogs it up pretty quickly if you're constantly hitting it.

Hey samuraisam,

Will the Persei top be able to do the whole range of voltage? If that is the case, I do not need to buy the omicron top. But I still appreciate the link. Are there advantages in using the smaller connector on the Core if the larger one can hit the whole range of voltage?

Also, if price was not an issue, would u buy the omicron or omicron mini? The mini looks like my Persei with ss kit. I also bought an extra 14500 when I bought the Persei ss kit. I am leaning towards the original omicron.

I'm glad I stumbled upon this forum. Everyone on here seems to have had superb support from W9tech... Wish I had the same experience... What's the best way to contact them?

I bought a V 2.5 because it said "OIL" and I've had problems finding a reliable solution for CO2 oil. I get the item and when I go to prime the cartridge I read all of the instructions and I hold the button in and I'm pretty sure I don't see a red light inside but I do feel the cartridge get warm. I call support mid day on a Friday and right away get v. mail so I leave a message no one calls back. I wait a while, call again same thing but I don't leave a message this time.

The weekend comes and I still haven't heard anything. Because the cartridge got warm when I held the button on the Omicron I decided to load it. CO2 oil varies in viscosity depending upon the supplier due to some fractional extraction chem stuff which I won't go into, but this was the thickest variant around. A gram of oil ran right out the bottom of the cartridge into my hand. (well, I recovered about 1/3. 3 days ago after verifying the cart was def bad and never hearing from the company and losing all hope of hearing back I used the center like a plunger and pushed a bunch more oil out then put a globe over the stainless tube and torched the tube lightly to recover all the wasted goodies I could.)

I was very upset. I emailed because it was the weekend. My email was pleasant. No one has ever called or emailed me back. I read on the website that w9 does not accept returns so now I'm stuck with something that I cannot use. I would have totally walked away from the company forever but after reading about the Hercules it sounded like something more like what I needed and I couldn't find anythingg to compare but due to the lack of support or any contact at all from W9 and the inability to return stuff I decided I'd be better off buying elsewhere. I found a used persei for $40 and I bought a brand new Herc 74x on discount for $69.99 for my birthday today and it hits wonderful. BUT, again, my oil ran into the bottom. I kind of expected this though but I don't mind making the switch to hash with this product. It's all clogged up and dragging hard so I'll have to clean in iso and RO water.

My question is, what now do I do with my stupid Omicron. When I bought the persei it came with some cartridges and it lit right up red so then I had confirmation the stainless cartridge was bad and the system won't work for what I bought it for at all... I've got an ad on craigslist but no one is hitting on it...

Why does the main source of support for this company seem to be a single muddled up thread on some non-related website that is not linked in any way?

Step 1 find the right thread for your Omicron as this thread is about the Persei which is a larger battery unit than what you have.

Step 2 if you use the Search function in that thread I bet you'll find answers to most of your problems. The EO Cart you are using is slightly dated, but still work well, and are a great solution for CO2 oil; there is a bit of a learning curve to using them. If you held the button down with the cart unfilled your probably killed the cart yourself and caused the o ring on bottom to go out and leak everywhere. If you load your carts with the funnel and a heat gun or very low heat to evenly heat the cartridge about halfway down, then put the oil in, it will stay warm the whole way and remain fluid, instead of cooling down and getting stuck up top. There is a 'bulk oil heater' in the cart you can feel getting warm, this feeds oil into the main element, that element is what you could see if you looked into the center tube before loading.

Step 3 Submit a support ticket. Their website is www.w9tech.com. Front and center is some product placement- under that are 5 big blue buttons. One of those says Contact Us. If you click that you'll see a contact page with a green button that says Report a Problem, Submit a ticket. Bummer that you couldn't get them on your phone, try again!

Step 4 you are in the right place for the Herc and Persei. The Hercules requires cool down draws to prevent oil leaking into the lower reclaim chamber, more stable concentrates also help in this area. Tons of discussion about the Hercules, technique, cleaning, loading all in the last 20 pages of this thread :)

Hey there sorry to hear about your frustrations. The FC community is very helpful so it is a good place to recieve support from others...

As far as your omicron situation I'm not sure totally what's wrong but I'm going to assume you're using it with kiss cartridges and/or globe? You said you put a gram of oil in there? That would be far exceeding the capacity of a kiss cart for sure, I usually only load a cupful at a time max in those (maybe .1g).

As far as your oil running to the lower chamber in your Hercules perhaps you are overheating the oil too much, use a button pulsing method, 3 seconds on 3 seconds off or 5 on/off I have seen others say for the 74x. Make sure you do cool down hits as well about 10 seconds, probably multiple times if you are using a runnier oil (which it sounds like you are) until it stops gurgling so much when you draw on it

Browse through this thread there is countless amounts of great tips and tricks people have posted in here on how to get beautiful usage out of all your W9tech gear

Good Luck!

Grab kiss globe for your omicron, the e.o. carts frustrated me to no end and dont taste nearly as good. If you can settle for layg, man that kiss globe is sweet. G seems to roll up and down with his availability, but im certain youre not being ignored on purpose. Idk when you tried contacting, but theyve recently switched offices and now its holiday season where everyone is swamped. E.O. carts were great when the herc wasnt available, but the flavor and sturdiness of the kiss layg design have gotten so good id never look back.

I did LONG cool down draws on the herc... that wasn't the issue.

The instructions say to ALWAYS hold the button down on the stainless cart unloaded first. They say the exact opposite in the instructions for the kiss cart.

Also, I USED THE support ticket bs and no one contacted me back. I called twice. I filed a ticket using the link on their website. I did all of that, that is why I am angry. I didn't burn the pos out. It never ever worked properly and you suggesting otherwise makes me angry. Next cart I saw that came with the used Persei worked fine and no it's not a great solution for CO2 oil. It could easily run out the top and the bottom and if it were a great solution for CO2 oil the book even says it's only a good solution for products that solidify not that stay runny(but the webstie sure as heck doesn't mention this). Any subcritical fluid extraction done at the right PSI will pull 0 waxes and give a very clean albeit liquidy oil at room temp even if it is a thick liquid. Butane pulls aren't fractional like CO2 so PSI changes the end product significantly...

I understand the difference in battery, etc also and none of that has anything to do with my issue... I posted here simply because it was the first place I found that people from that company seem to actually watch since no one at all bothered to contact me back using any of the proper methods.

And yes, the herc does seem amazing even if the support from the company itself has been completely subpar... I'll clean it (I know how I'm not a moron who would take vice grips to it or a torch and ruin it... ;) ) and get some hash and then look for a nibbler... Wasn't planning on spending my birthday on a forum arguing with someone about whether I know how to properly use something so I'll be back later. ;)

To everyone else, nope not a kiss cart putting CO2 in there would be moronic.

I don't even want it now. I bought it for CO2 oil, not wax or shatter, because I have a ready supply of it cheap and have been using it as a perfectly awesome mobile solution. I was just looking for something better than the Kanger tank and they stress how totally Lego awesome the Omicron is for oils which is not completely true but it's only in fine print on the book not on the website and you don't read that until you already paid to then find out you can't return it even though it doesn't work for what you need at all...

I bought a Persei and Herc and I'll use that at home now with hash as I think it is awesome but Kanger tank for oil is still better than the Omicron hands down and it's not the best solution... I guess I wasted $70...

you know you can buy kanger protank for your the omicron and persei right? I wish we can make cartridges for all oil types but there is simply to many consistencies out there. As for co2 oils that are really viscous then i would recommend a protank or a mt4.
