Discontinued FlowerMate V8.0 by Smiss

Is that really even ABV? Some of the parts look all the way close to black while others dont look vaporized at all.

Phone camera blows and that was one of my first bowls and it's without stirring because I hate doing it lol IMO you should not have to stir. Though I'm still very well in my testing phase and it's taking awhile because I travel for work a lot. I like to be in my element with new vapes. Especially new untested ones.

I got my two samples with euro-plug chargers btw. I think they send you the correct charger depending on your location, like with the FM5.

Days later still an acrid under- and after-taste but it is less annoying than it was.
I'll tell you, one thing that I *really* like about the V8 is that in the time it takes to press the power button 5 times, swivel the lid, and pull out the straw it is up to temp and can spew thick vapor. With just a little bit of acrid rubbery taste under the sweetness.

To get rid of the 'new' smell idk if I saw it here or somewhere else but run a few bowls through it and it should be greatly reduced. If you don't want to waste you're fresh herb on nasty taste and smell just use ABV. I wish I saw this before I ran my good herb through lol.

NickDlow,
Found the weak spot on the body of the V8. Didn't drop it, just bumped the table where it was standing and it fell on its side...and this happened. That sure didn't take long. Shouldn't impact performance; just thought I would share. Don't let that dude stumble.

That stinks. High center of gravity. And gravity trumps.

This baby needs a stabilizing stand.

I had in mind a hand grip of vertical lines in white Sugru spaced about an inch apart and about as thick as a heavy pencil lead (like so: | | | | | on the front and the back, just below the screen) across the middle of the body. I wonder if that would be enough of a bumper to help in a case like this. impossible to know I guess, maybe need more just below the rim.

Would it depend on where it impacts when it falls from a height, like a table top?

A thin silicone sleeve might lessen the damage of accidental impacts. In various colors, of course.

PS I believe you are thinking of keeping a good handgrip on the unit.

Not about it toppling over because the ratio of height in relationship to the small area of the base is huge.

Making it inherently unstable. If that makes sense.

(SN: Me, I am biting on a new car tire smell.)

or maybe a silicon ring at the top and bottom edge. At the bottom it would widen the footprint for stability and at the top be shock absorbing. the two rings (sleeves maybe but not covering the whole device) could be very subtle.
I was looking at the ring that came with the Ascent U-shaped water pipe adapter thinking something like that without the bump for the adapter might work well at the top and bottom.

(just a side note...I still have that "licking a bike tire" taste from my V8 but it almost goes away down around 180 C)

How many loads have you been through? My smell was virtually gone around 3 I think. If you don't want to waste herb try using ABV in the oven.

I bought mine from the Massdrop sale, the strong smell was stated to be remedied with this Massdrop batch according to their discussion boards, but that's not the case for my unit. I've done numerous burn offs and ISO/coconut oil washes to no avail. It's still unusable so I have contacted Massdrop about returning the unit for a refund.
From the initial Da Vinci Ascent, to the first Indicas, and now to this unit, I question running a number of bowls of anything thru a vape that outputs an improper smell/flavor. Would that not just mask what may be an unhealthy off gassing?
I'll keep you guys posted on the return/refund process.

Finally after several weeks the bike tire taste is largely gone. I now like it better than my Flowermate V5.0 and it ties with my IMAG Plus for extracting every last bit of usefulness out of my herb.
The IMAG Plus is far more stealthy, the V8 is far more quality in looks and feel and so cool I've never suffered hotthroat. for the Price I am glad I got it from MD. I would still not recommend it especially for a new vape user because of the complexity of dealing with that heavy silicon(?) taste to get to a useable state.

Love your collection Adobewan, a bit jealous.

I've done at least 7 now and it's exactly the same taste as when I got it.

Sorry for my ignorance what is ABV?

Hmmm, B2B?

Well, anyway. Gotta luv the way it heats up like gorilla balls! Comes up to snuff in seconds.

Gives set temp, and temp "achieved" on the display. A curious thing I noticed, however, when a temperature probe is sent down the glass stem the temp never goes beyond 70 something F degrees, even when cranked up to max.

Of course with the glass path, screen, & "Essence", it is not in direct contact with the heater. Plus, the elbow.

So, no cigar.

Musta heated off the old new schmell, don't notice it much. But then I am higher than King Kong on the Empire State Building. Hello, NY!

Awe, Chee, they got another scraper up.

2015, cummin up! Darn. The four horsemen...

PS One could open up the bottom, and put a probe to calibrate the temp, but there are other souls who might want to try. Besides, I am Baked.

pPS Anyone taken theirs, apart, yet?
