A little birdie from the great state of MN made me an offer I couldn't refuse...
Will be so nice to have a HI and an UD around. I mean, I hate having to walk all the way down the hallway and into the living room just to take a toke! Just think of all the time I'll be saving by having an UD in the *other* living room.

I have spent the good part of my web-reading time here at the FC forum, and focused on this original UD thread as well as a couple others (to mate up with my current vapes.)
The UD in or place continues to be a nice addition, in both aromatherepy use (about 16 or so hours a day) and then a couple of hour or so long sessions lounging and vaping dry herbs.
FWIW, since my vaping is for pleasure with things such as peppermint, ginko, chamomile, etc and there is no real "need" for any of it, i have chosen to turn our "Madrone" UD off when we head to bed. Then if i'm up and about for any reason in the wee hours of the morning anytime about two or so hours before rising i will turn on the UD and get the aromatherapy use going. Its been nice to wake up to healing smells of eucalyptus and such. . . and had i known about this device years ago i could have bought it with all the candle monies spent over the years stoking the aromatherapy bowls !!

Push your screen all the way down to meet the stem, and it acts as a brace. This way formed screens arent necessary, if you are having screen issues that is.

Hey guys, i have a tip for anyone using silicone stems. You can take your glass stem and push it all the way into your silicone until about half and inch of silicone is left.
sounds like your making your own "old style glass stems" @DcTokeMan.
I still like the silicone stems/bowls more then the all glass stems, and the 'old style' are my favorite.
Now when i come across any wooden or glass tubes I always kinda see the possibility of a new stem, right now I'm rocking an inch of silicone on the end of a 5 inch length of bamboo I sawed off of a old 'Cane pole' fishing rod. Just one way to personalize your Underdog experience and add to the fun.

About a foot and a half of the tip was broken off so it was kinda stubby and useless for fishing anymore, It was about a 12' long fixed pole.

I've been enjoying the Madrone UD with various dry herbs and essential oils in the copper cups i received...i'll be ordering more cups this weekend to add into the mix of options for aromatherapy during a given day. . . On that note, and as an FYI for any who are into the aromatherapy bowl i utilize organic virgin coconut oil as a base oil with the essential oils with good success.
One question on stems, though basically just a ramble cuz i really don't know much about stems and attachment possibilities yet.
I looked at the UD site, and while all this vaping is new to me, i'm wondering if there is a 45 degree angle elbow of sorts that would house the herb like the metal-on-nylon (my fav so far) ?? I've been doing ok with the UD+MonN stem, it just seems that holding the UD at a given angle then holding the stem might be more comfortable if i could put a 45 elbow on the end of the nylon.

You can use one of the nylon nongs in a j hook and put a keck clip on it to secure it in place which would give you a 90 degree angle. This is what I do but I had to make my own 14 mm ss tip wpa out of the old style glass wpa and an ss tip before the nylon ones came out so I can't verify that the keck will for sure work with the nylon wpa but it should.

Wow -- my Underdog has arrived! I was pretty surprised when the mailperson came today -- on a Sunday.
My UD doesn't look like the one from the picture though. They forgot to include the underbutter and put the wrong stems in, but hey - it's here!!

I ordered a hopea stone burl UD a few weeks ago as a Christmas present for a friend... this thing is seriously beautiful and effective! I almost want to keep it and give away my nano instead!! 
Since I'm used to being able to adjust the power, I also ended up getting a 15 V adapter and an inline LED dimmer to go with the UD. Unfortunately I don't have the tools right now to do proper measurements, but I have it all plugged into a kill-a-watt and it seems to be working quite well...

Alright, well the pup tired me out a bit too much last night, wasn't able to give a proper opinion, but wow, what a great piece of art.
Someone a few pages back mentioned something about how there can be pleasure in viewing and feeling a nice piece, and I totally agree. I LOVE the way this thing feels in my hand and I just end up rolling it around in my palm. The woodwork is amazing too, granted I'm not familiar with wood really but this thing looks so boss. I don't know if this is unique to the Movingui wood type, but I LOVE the way it shimmers when you bend it in the light. It kind of has tiger stripes or like ridges and when you bend it, that which appears dark lightens and that which is light darkens....pretty sweet looking.
I took some photos of it at different angles to try and give you an idea of what I'm talking about, just using an iPhone so apologies if the quality isn't up to par.
Also, something kind of silly but really added to the personal handcrafted touch, was just the simple "Thx!" handwritten on the instruction note. Idk, I was quite medicated but that really hit the right notes for me while thinking about this piece.
Thoughts on performance:
- Let it run about an hour before I used it. Wasn't worried about chemicals or anything, just happened to take me a while to take a shower and cook up dinner. When I finally got around to using it, the device was warm to the touch, but certainly not hot and it never became uncomfortable in my hand. No off taste either upon usage. Ran it for 6-7 hours, no decrease in quality ever. Would have left it plugged in, roommates consider it a fire hazard though with the cats around, so unplugged when I went to sleep.
- The 14mm GonG stem took some getting used too, but it ~may~ be my favorite now that I've learned to properly play with it. Part of the issue was I initially was using a 2 1/2 ft - 3ft tall bong....that was simply too much surface area to really get a proper hit. I mean I could milk the bong fine, and then clear it, but it just seemed like a lot of additional work. Using that crooked bastard I posted above, I was able to get much "thicker" and condensed hits, while still being cool. I ordered a little 5-6 inch bubbler that I planned on using with the UD, it has yet to arrive though...I suspect it would provide the best results yet as it is the smallest surface area.
- The Nylon stem is SWEET! This was definitely the easiest to "pick up and go" and I like how it delivered such thick hits. My roomate actually has fallen in love with this method, the bong was a little too complex and he doesn't vape often so his draw technique I assume isn't really up to par..consequently he was unimpressed with the bong attachment, but he LOVED using the Nylon stem and was amazed at how little you utilized while still getting such big clouds. Likely will be ordering himself his own stem, and I'll probably invest in a NonG attachment as well as I like those metal tips a lot.
- The "direct draw" method I will likely never be utilizing. For one, I don't know if this is intentional or not, but neither end of my direct draw stem is flush flat, they each are warped and bent....this really isn't an issue, my complaint is that I don't like the way the glass feels on my lips while I'm smoking. I am finding it to get too hot and my lips have this weird feeling after taking hits from it...idk its from the heat or its vapor residue or what, but regardless, I wasn't about it lol. That being said, I may invest in some tubing and just use that stem as a whip attachment.

I was using really really small bowl packs, as I found that packing both the Nylon and the GonG stem about halfway were providing for optimal results (4 FAT hits) and two of those would have me sufficiently medicated. Looking forward to taking it up to camp for the New Years

That's just about the same way I revere my Dogs, except I would have to emphasize the power, efficiency and consistency of taste quality enjoyed. Warm-up time for me is approx. 10 minutes @ 12.8 and then let er rip @ 8.5 - 10.5 on the vvps (dry - wet). I use a 10" straight tube like this, and it white walls quite nice.
You can use the metal SS tips in the glass stem also. Plus, the nylon stem should fit into a 14mm downstem easily. And, don't be shy about using the GonG as a direct draw stem also. Mine does double duty for both wet and dry.
I'm down to about 2g a week and that's without even trying to conserve. And I stay medicated.
