Look for a phone with a cracked screen or something broke that won't effect using the app. These can often be found cheap. I have a 2 year old droid RAZR m, app works fine with it, these are pretty cheap also
Great idea... I see a few on the 'Bay for cheap. Thanks!

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too
Just realised that the harder you draw with the Crafty, the hotter it gets. Just finished a session at 190C and 210C and took it easy and I didn't have any overheating issues and bt disconnections.
This didn't work for me.

Although it did keep the unit noticeably cooler I still get the 'ok' error.

Got really smashed testing it out though. I've definitely been drawing too hard.

Lately i've been using the Crafty without the small o-ring and it's working out so well that i thought i'd share the idea. Without the little ring there's some outside air that gets pulled into the cooling unit, a little bit when the lock is pushed in, and more if the lock is pulled out. I use the unlocked position when in boost mode for more cooling. The vapor is thinner and cooler overall, but the sessions are a little longer.

Sorry if it's been posted already, i tried searching the thread but found nothing on this.

After a week wake and bake...

The Herb: Southern hemisphere herb (shh), vapes completely different from northern hemisphere herb (nhh). You want clouds, try a 100% nhh, a shh herb vapes whispy and is lighter.

The draw: best is slow light and long

Ahhhh..... shh = south of the equator, and, nhh = north of the equator. Hemisphere, as in the earths hemisphere. Hope that helps without spelling out strains.

Believe me, I TOTALLY understand what you meant by shh and nhh. What I don't understand is your statement that one vapes different than another or that one produces more clouds than another.

I may be an idiot, but I've never heard a statement like that.

So no, that doesn't help me out without spelling out strains. And being that most strains are gown indoors, what in the hell does a specific hemisphere have to do with it?

Hell, even if they were grown outdoors, I still don't see the correlation. Are you saying that northern African landrace strains produce more clouds than southern African landrace strains? If you are, can you please post up some links from some valid resources to validate what you are saying here or am I totally off my rocker for taking you seriously?

ok: shh is lighter, less dense and not so heavily packed together, less cbd.
nhh is heavier, more dense and is tightly packed together, more cbd.

You don't think these variables have an effect on vapour produced?

Ok, I know that this is the Crafty thread and I apologize to the mods and other Crafty owners but how in the hell can I let this go?

You statement above makes about as much sense as the first one I responded to. Actually, maybe even a bit less.

Ok, I'm done. This is just crazy stuff......

Well, friends, I couldn't resist. I pulled the trigger and ordered a Crafty yesterday. The vendor offered free expedited shipping, and it did ship yesterday, but Canada Post is pretty bogged down right now, so I don't know how long it will take to get to me.

I will report back once I've had a chance to try it out!

I also took the plunge. Hopeful to have it before Chirstmas but I suspect it won't be here 'til the day after.

That's what I'm saying. Who even has an iPhone 4 anymore but can't spend the extra money on a newerr iphone but has enough for a $400 vape? Not to be a dick but that doesn't make sense to me to get mad at s and b for making their product (top line product) compatible with a phone so many years old hardly anyone has it

The cent is just a little bigger!, take away the outer ledge and we're there :)

Sorry mods, Just realised the double post! If this happens again, is it better to delete the post and paste it whith the one above and leave this one blank or is there another solution apart from been carefull not to do it?

mod note: That solution is fine. You can also just leave them. In both cases you should report one of them so that we can merge them. Thanks for your concern.

Hey, here they are but you know that on top of every page you have a search option and that is how I find these:

NB: Anyway The first time I attempted to produce the Emod it was a sunday and I did not have everything on hand so I went on using a glue gun to attach the glass to the pastic, it worked for a while till it got to hot and fell away ( I have a vid showing that funny moment)

The second time after a trip to the shop where I bought some other type of JB weld (don't have it over here), on the box it said up 150° I was a little suspicious but I thought, well it must work!!, well it did till I tried to exit the mod after a hot sesh, and guess what, I was left with the glass part with the glue in my hand and the pastic still lodge in the Crafty, damn!

The thrid time, I used this product and it works great!!! It did take 3 days to be fully dried!!

Skydog is there's not a option to just upgrade your phone?

Problem is, my phone isn't Android or iOS. It runs the Linux-based MeeGo "Harmattan," which has a great interface but a limited app ecosystem. It does have a very fanatical, hacker-ish user base, so it may be a matter of time before someone ports it over. For now, however, I'm SOL. :(

At least I'm basically happy with the stock temperature settings. I would like to dim the LED, just because I find it obnoxiously bright, especially when flashing. For now, I can use my girlfriend's iPhone for that.

That's what I'm saying. Who even has an iPhone 4 anymore but can't spend the extra money on a newerr iphone but has enough for a $400 vape? Hey, we all have different priorities. In my case, it's not so much the cost of the phone as it is being locked into a ridiculous calling plan. I like paying $5/month for mobile instead of $90/month--one factor that helped me afford the Crafty. And my phone isn't exactly "old" (2011), but is, shall we say, avant-garde. Google "Nokia N9 Stephen Elop" if you care about the backstory. Bottom line, the N9 works spectacularly for what I bought it for--a tool to communicate when I'm away--and the look and feel kicks the snot out of the 4S I used to have.

I'm not "mad" at s and b, but I do wonder why they can't make a version of the app work for a regular computer, or at least a three-year old iPad. Not everyone wants to hop on the planned obsolescence bandwagon.

Good point but most people who would be able to afford a crafty they figured would have a newer phone. Your probably in the minority on that one. How the hell do you manage to only pay $5 a month. I wouldn't mind paying that much lol

Prepaid service via an MVNO (PlatinumTel), combined with a home VOIP line (which adds another $10/month or so). This page, hosted by IP Daley, summarizes the general approach, which is to figure out how much mobile data you actually use and then set up something that lets you pay for that and only that. Your solution would differ from mine.

Back to the Crafty. I knew about the app issue when I ordered it, but figured I wouldn't need the app much and have a workaround for the limited times I do. Plus my iPad 2 won't last forever, and its successor will almost certainly support the app. I do wish the compatibility information on the S&B site, app store, etc. were more consistent, complete, and correct. That should happen in time... the Crafty is a new product.

After two days, this seems like a worthy S&B product--built like a tank. Hoping it lasts a long time without getting finicky like my Pax, which now feels like a toy. I like the Crafty's ergonomics, and the vapor is excellent--though I need to get better acquainted before making any comparisons. On the downside, the device seems battery thirsty and takes longer to recharge than I expected, even after one 2-3 hit session.
Final question: Is it normal for the LED to briefly flicker red during a hit?

Sinclue

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right
Final question: Is it normal for the LED to briefly flicker red during a hit?

If you draw particularly hard it can cool down enough to trigger the heater/red lights, esp at lower tempts. (that also resets the 1 minute shutoff).

Sinclue,
As the Crafty is a mainly convection vaporizer (I'm sure with my previous vape there was a lot more conduction happening), have you noticed the Crafty vaporizing the different herb species, with a different volume of vapour exhale?

I have noticed that if you combust the different herb types, the vapour is of a similar density. Although you will get more draws from each different herb type. So the combusted vapour density of parsley and rosemary are similar, but you will get more draws from rosemary.

However, when you convect parsley and rosemary, separately from one other, the vapour density is different. It seems rosemary produces a denser vapour than parsley.

I hope you can understand my, shared, experience of the crafty vaporiser?

Let me join the crowd...combust?

If your goal is combustion then you are, as they say, barking up the wrong tree as this is all about vaporization.

Let me apologise, naturally, I didn't mean to mislead you.

The reason combustion is mentioned, is I am sure there was some combustion happening with my last vaporizer, causing the vapour type, density, volume, to be different from my new Crafty.

The third paragraph is about my convection experience with the Crafty.

No worries. As long as we're all attempting to be on the same page.

After all using the Crafty isn't necessarily an aid to coherence ;)
