Yes the element can be tweeked slightly upward or downward.
The "throat hole" (the air inlet) may have a different diameter also.
Some experimentation is definitely in order.
I wish I was there to help.

ok so ive been braver and taken the ssv a part a little.

I gently pulled the old heater cover off and pulled with it a collar and a round metal piece with a hole in it the rod goes through.

I gave the rod a slight pull and it raised by a few mm. so I proceeded to put the round hole piece back on and the rod lowered when the round piece was right down as far as it could go.

so I removed the metal piece again and put the collar on first and then pulled the rod up and then put the hole piece on but this time I didnt push it right down.

then very carefully pushed the new heater cover down as far as it would go and the rod is definitely higher in the inside of the new HC I would say almost touching the top of the inside of the HC.

So I put the oil diffuser on and turned the ssv up to max (from cold) and the wax started melting a lot quicker than before.
result :-)

I then turned it back to my normal temp setting and gave it a test. and it is definitely performing more like it should and was with the old HC.

so I think in my testing and my opinion, the height of the rod makes a difference.

only thing I havnt figured out is how to use my old hands free clip.

Plainlazy, do you have the new style heater cover or the old? Mine is the new style and it seemed like the heater was on some sort of spring so that I couldn't pull it up any. My SSV works but I have to turn the heat way up and inhale literally as slowly as I can to get good production. In looking at pics of other members HCs it looks like the diameter of my intake hole is too large. I have good lung control from playing the saxophone for over 20 years so I can get it to work fine but it would be nice if my friends could get good hits too! I'll look at mine again to see if I might be able to raise the heater rod a mm or two.

sheppy both my old and new HC's are older shim style. I wanted to upgrade my ssv to the new tension clip style but 7th floor wouldnt send me the kit to be able to, you have to send your ssv to them. too much from uk.

I would really suggest trying to work out how to pull the rod up a few mm. it worked for me and it seems like you have the same problem but with the new tension clip style HC.

I cant help as I only have experience with the shim style HC's, but good luck I reckon pulling the heat rod up will solve your problem.

Have you seen my old posts? They sent me one with an intake hole that is too large, same problem you are describing. I ordered it as a backup to my current HC, so I know it's not my SSV heater or placement. The intake was bigger than the output.

I gave it to V&C in hopes of him making a mini SSV wand for us. How awesome would a worked 10mm thick tube SSV wand be?!? :D:D

Tweak, I do remember seeing your comparison pic, that's what had me wondering about mine. My sister got my SSV for me new from an eBay seller so I can't really send the HC back, I'll get another one eventually.
That would be awesome to have some JoDa glass for the SSV! I LOVE your nano stem!

I havnt compared the intake holes on my HC's, so are the intake and output holes susposed to be the same size or intake smaller than output?

I can honestly say I got the most tasty vapor hit I have ever had, it was all there.

I keep saying this exact thing, even through a Silicone whip it is the tastiest vaporizer I've tried.

Have you seen my SSV --> nano GonG video? Best of both worlds, :ko:

What amazes me is that even after the first hit, the load is still green. Not one spot of brown. Pure Convection draw.

I have troubles getting my ABV dark with the SSV, I'm thinking because you don't need to.

Not trying to hate, but what's the general consensus or opinion amongst you guy's with the SSV? I only ask because a guy living on my floor freshman year (4 years ago at this point) bought a SSV, and it was wholly uninspiring. I had a cheapo Chinese Box Vape at the time, and it hit....comparable? It may not have been perfect, but I felt it got me as stoned.

From then on, and maybe my perception was skewed because I owned such a similar yet cheaper device, but I considered the SSV to be just a glorified "branded" box vape. Haven't seen that guy in years, nor do I know anyone with one to try it out again, so was just seeing is my perception off? Again, not trying to hate or flame, genuinely curious and somewhat unexperienced with these.

If the SSV did not perform as well as a Chinese box, there was a problem with that SSV or your technique. IMO, no desktop hits harder than the SSV

SSV, like all vapes, takes some practice getting used to. You have to hit it in a certain way. I can totally see how it would have been uninspiring for a one-time user. I wasn't getting anything at first, but when I learned the technique and its temp dial... massive clouds, SUPER high me!! :ko:

Hello, I need some help with my SSV! I've had my ssv for about 2 years and i love it! It has spherical GG wand and heater cover....and i also have the oil kit. I always have the oil diffuser sitting on top unless im using the oil kit. I recently wanted to try the standard glass wand and heater cover...so i got them recently and installed them...but i could not get it to hit good like the spherical does! I tried cranking the heat up some and slowing down my draw....but still no results...only got a very very light vapor. I know the hole in the heater cover is supposed to be small...but mine seems to be exceptionally small. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is? I really like the standard glass...hope it wasnt a waste! Thanks

The air inlet hole being slightly smaller should pose no issue either.
Be sure that the screen in the Standard Hand Held Wand, is inserted "dome up".

THanks for the quick response yall...ok so the element is not pushed down at all...its sitting very close to the top of the heater cover....as far as the small hole in the HC is concerned i was talking about the top hole that goes into the wand...not the bottom hole where the air comes in. As far as the screen is concerned..this could be the problem...i did insert it in dome up...but after trying to vape...it looked like it was flat again...the screen doesent sit in the groove tight like it does in my spherical wand. It sits in there really loose...and u can spin it easily with a poker...maybe since its so loose it wont hold the dome shape?
Thanks for the help :)

The hole is small. it is designed to be a small jet stream of hot air.
Try aiming the air at specific spots in the wand, by moving the wand around.
The screen should be .625 in size.
If it fits in flat it could be a DBV screen (.582)

My first regular wand was like this. Had to move to .75" screens. AFAIK, there have only been a few reports of this problem. I don't even think Vito has ran across one, and he's been through tons of wands.

You can use the SGG wand with a regular HC, give that a try to see if its the wand.

Is your Heater element glowing? Does it glow less when taking a hit?

Ok so ive done some experimenting and heres what i know so far....i normally use SGG set up....this works great and the element sits very close to the top of the HC...you could maybe get a credit card between the HC and the element. I usually run the SSV at about 60 to 65% power with a relatively fast draw. When i installed the Standard glass HC and wand....i turned up the power to around 80 % or so and only got very ight vapor. I checked the element and it is as far up as it will go...i checked my screen size and its the right size 15.8mm. So, today i decided to take tweak's advice and try the SGG wand with the standard heater cover....same thing happened...light vapor at 65% power...so i decided to turn it way up to like 90 or 95% and at this temp i got some decent vapor hits. So due to this i dont believe my problem is the wand since both wands performed the same....i compared the two HCs and the SGG HC is about a half an inch shorter than the standard HC...so as the element is very close to the top of the SGG HC....it is about a half an inch from the top of the standard HC. Could my standard HC be too long? IF you look into the hole in the standard HC u cant even see the element...the top of the element sits just below the bend in the standard HC. I hope this makes sense! Totally frustrated lol....thanks for all the help...much appreciated!

I must have had bad luck as that is how my one and only wand I've ever had is - too wide and too deep. No mods (i.e. Tweak's mod) can effectively deal with it. I'm currently using a stack of screens, including the EZ basket screen, but it's fiddly and not very effective. Has anyone tried the SSV Shorty wand yet? Perhaps after 3.5 years vaporizing with this setup I can justify this purchase.

EDIT. Alan of HI recommending I hammer the stock screen. "Just tried to hammer a screen using two hammers. It works pretty well. Hold the head of one hammer so that you can hold the edge of the screen with your thumb. Use the other hammer to tap along the edge of the screen. Reposition the screen and repeat until you work all the way around. It may not be necessary to hammer the center of the screen. It shouldn't take much to make it just slightly larger in diameter. It would save you a trip to the metal shop. The most important thing is that both metal surfaces are very smooth. If you use an anvil, it must be on a smooth part." Never did this. Don't have 2 hammers.

Today I got to borrow a SSV until my cloud is fixed. This thing is awesome, im really digging it. About to try it with my water pipe, this pipe is a monster worthy of the legendary SSV beast. Also about to try it with stock screen (had an eq basket screen-tweak's mod in place before but it was moving around).

So first time with stock screen and first time using it with a water tool. Should be an adventure. Im glad I got to see what all they hype is about.

EDIT: Nvm, went with two large screens. It took a long time but I was already vaped. I finally found the right technique. I used the stem (mouthpiece) to shape it (folded edges around it). Then using the stem press the screen against my desk to make the flat part of the bowl. With two wooden scewers I was able to get the screen into the buttom, I have it standing up making the bowl smaller. I then took another large screen and did the same thing again but this time flipped it so both screens are like this: )(

LOL there has to be a better way.
