Alfa Vaporizer by goboof

I've been watching this forum for quite a while now, and finally went ahead and ordered my Alfa. Got it last Friday, and charged it up right away. When it was all charged up, I packed the bowl and turned it onto medium. The green light blinked for a while, then started blonking red. Now the unit is completely dead. I never even got to use it once. For others who have had to exchange a unit, do you deal with the company that shipped it to you, or directly with Goboof? Pretty bummed....
My unit just did the same thing. I got an RMA number and a free shipping label. The tech said they have been receiving a lot of calls about the blinking red light issue.

...And let's spark a new flame!
This is such an awesome little vape, it sucks that several issues have popped up.

I've been treating mine with so much care. i.e. Not using while plugged in, charging only when it blinks orange, not leaving it out in the cold, unplugging as soon as the light switches to green. I guess I shouldn't so that if it is a faulty unit I can get a replacement asap. Well I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I hope you all get your replacement units faster than quickly ;)

A free shipping label? Who are you dealing with? Gotvape? I got mine through vaporizor.com, and they expect me to pay to get the unit back to them. Are they shipping you a new unit right away, or do you need to wait for them to receive the old one first? Sorry. A lot of questions...

I got mine through gotvape.com. When they receive the faulty unit they are going to ship a new unit out for free or I can pay for 2 day shipping. Free shipping took 3 days from Cali to DC.

Yeah vaporizor.com wants me to pay the shipping back. Maybe cause I'm in Canada...

"We were waiting on new software which we just received today. We should have your unit shipped tomorrow.

Ciarán"

So it seems they are fixing the issue which is good. This was in response to me asking when my unit would be shipped, he sent this this morning.

I also asked blatantly if he was aware that others are receiving the blinking red light issue. Waiting for a response, and eagerly waiting for my new unit!!

I just shot him an email. I still haven't mailed my unit out yet. I'd rather wait and get this updated software.

Hello Thotfukr

We received word that you were looking to receive the updated version of the Alfa.

When you send in your Alfa using the RMA, Return Merchandise Authorization, provided to you on 12/15/14, we will be able to replace it with the version with the updated software.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me at the number below.

Best regards,

Laura Turner

I just received this email from gotvape.com after emailing Goboof about the blinking red light. I'm happy about the customer service and I'm happy I chose Goboof. I now see the need for a back up and can't wait to get my Elevape sv.

Just received this:
Hi Greg,

That's awesome to hear you love your new Alfa vaporiser but I'm sorry that it is no longer working for you.

The Red Blinking light indicates a malfunction and the unit proceeds into safety shut down mode however we believe a number of units are falsely detecting a malfunction and are shutting down. Therefore the units with this issue only require a software update.

Just so you know all the units we have received back with this issue have been fixed via software within a matter of minutes.

Greg, Gotvape are our distribution partner in North America and I trust they will be very happy and more than capable to take care of that for you as speedily as possible and I believe they will be in touch asap.

If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Regards
Ciarán

wow....it frustrates me to type this but: I had an amazing week with my alfa that i purchased from a not so well known source "endless bargains blvd" (their package friendly name), also known as vapour-trailz vaporizer outlet. It cost $172 after a black friday sale, which was a steal. They said free shipping on any order over $100 i believe (which i did not receive, but a deal is a deal), and it also took almost 10 days to get here. All of this was ok, because my alfa has been perfect since i got it. Until today that is. I used it a lot last night at a concert, but charged it a couple times yesterday until it was at full charge. This morning I woke up intending to vape the remains in my bowl on high. I turned the dial, the light started flashing, about a minute later i looked down and there was no light on, I turned the dial back and forth, nothing. Then I plugged it into the wall outlet, nothing. Changed outlets, powerstrips cleaned it, the thing isn't working. Not sure if I should contact the seller or just go through Goboof. Regardless of all of this, it's very disappointing. It worked flawlessly until today, and I was very happy with the purchase.

My alfa just started to cause me troubles today too despite performing flawlessly for a few weeks. All of a sudden the material that encases the unit began to slide off when i pushed on the lid to close the oven. It appears that the screw above the charging port is now useless on my unit as the tapped hole is totally broken. Now that I think about it, it might have been broken all along as the charging port never quite lined up with the casing. My device didn't sustain any major drops either. Quite a shame because I was thoroughly enjoying the alfa and I don't plan on giving up on it.

Just received my Alfa. Ordered it over the weekend and paid for 2 day delivery, got it Thursday. (In case others wanted to know timeframe)
Charging him up right now... I hope I don't run into any issues since I am terrible at returning things. (I have 2 non-working Ascents, 1 dead Pax and 1 broken T-Vape that I never got around to sending back under warranty)
Can't wait to get started!
Tbc......

Im having issues too.

Temperature settings are 1 and 2 are not really providing any vapor, and the 3rd temperature setting is getting too hot. Anyone else having this problem?

FrigginRights,
Spoke with someone at vaporizor.com today about getting my new Alfa sent out, and they said that a tech from Goboof was coming to update the Alfas with the new software tomorrrow (Friday), and then they will start sending out replacements for everybody that has had their Alfa die on them. I have been told that vaporizor.com gets their orders filled by gotvape, so I suppose that timeline probably applies to all who are awaiting replacements from gotvape as well. I guess these are growing pains for a new product for a new company. I do hope that I get mine back before christmas, though that seems unlikely at this point. Guess I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one affected by this issue, but I'm a little upset that I won't get a working unit into my hands until 6 weeks after I first ordered it. I've ordered an ascent in the meantime. Seems to me that having two portable vapes would be prudent for when one of them needs to go to the shop to be repaired...

I'm I doing this right? Just want to compare packing methods once more. I've gotten in the habit of packing the chamber pretty darn right. I mean really really tight of a pack. Where I can notice a restriction on draw a bit, but still can produce clouds.

I want to get some feedback on alfa users and how they pack their oven/chamber. I've tried a looser pack and did not like the wispy clouds, but I'm concerned there may be such thing as packing tooo tightly.

I grind my trees in a space case and I let them get some air to dry out a little. I pack it in there pretty tight up to the pin. I get clouds on low for 15 minutes. After it shuts down I flip it to medium for about ten minutes and finish on hi after a stir.

So bummed reading this. I have had mine for about a month from Gotvape with no problems and love the little guy. Kind of waiting to see if mine goes down.

I have found that a light pack doesn't work well. I pack mine pretty good then place a screen on top, kinda like I do the pax, and get good vapor from a little amount.
