hey guys, I have a buddy that just gifted this hash oil to me for some work I had done on his house. He got it from someone else and wasn't sure on how it was made or if it's edible or smokeable.

Any ways maybe you guys can help me out... I'll try and post pictures when I get home. But it's in a mason jar... Looks black until you hold it to light and it's more of a golden color. The consistency is like tar at room temp. Obviously sticky as hell.

Anyone have a clue as to what it is and what to do with it?

I have no experience with any of those. I use an O-phos oil pen from UP Tech, and find it highly enjoyable.

People say you can put some on a thin layer of cotton and vape it in most vapes.

It doesn't sound edible... But it sound VAPEABLE :brow:
The only criteria for me to consider a hash edible, is if it's NOT top shelf nug run. I think it's a shame to waste tasty oil by cooking off the terpenes in a baked good. As long as hash is properly decarbed, it can be eaten; although it is advisable to mix with fat or alcohol prior to consumption.

As for the oil OP has, it sounds more edible to me than smokeable. A dark color and sticky texture are characteristics of a decarbed hash, although the same could be said for poorly made hash (residual solvents, excess plant matter extracted).

Wonder if its just 'biker' type oil meant to smear on a paper to be smoked. Most times 'that' type of oil is made with either or hexane and long soaked then boil purged/reduced.

You 'might' be able to clean it up with some SS 30-50 micron screens, sun purged to reduce chlorophyll, then winterized to remove the waxes ?

If it is, I wouldn't use in a pen vape or you'll kill the atty for sure. Dabbing would be a 'personal choice' as far as cleanliness/toxicity.

And I think he's right. It's probably Butane extract (pretty easy and popular I'm told), but other solvents are cheaper and tend to show up in high volume operations. Quantity over quality?

For sure not knowing is a risk, and having no experience with oil to judge by makes it worse. Not that lower grade extracts are poison, but some can get pretty nasty. And they can be quite potent, several time more than the very best buds. If you have more than a gram or two it's worth figuring out I think. Perhaps you could give a small sample to a more experienced guy?

I've got a pax, mflb, volcano (no idea where the concentrate pads are) and a solo. Which would be best to throw it in?

If you're willing to mix in some herb you can put a wad of that in a Solo stem. Say 1/3 or so. Then pack straight herb in behind it so none drips into the cup. MFLB will need the 'concentrate trays', the version with the pads would be best. It's not easy to vape there, but can be done if you have a PA, enough batteries and patients. Pax you should pass on, Volcano (with their pads) is probably the best option you hve.

Good luck with it.

Well it definitely did the job vaping it... Went and got the pads for the volcano. Solid.

There is no way I'll use all of this fucking oil. 300+ grams. Having it tested to serif it's worth anything.

It looks like the oil that comes in syringes and are put into pen cartridges.whats that generally extracted with?

Thanks again gentlemen!

Damn that's a shitload of oil. Syringe oil is usually CO2 extracted while lower grade stuff is done with butane. To do a quick test on it, put some on a dabber and hold a lighter under it. If it reacts violently (i.e. sparks) it's usually a sign it contains excess residual solvents.

HOLY..... !! 300 grams ? :o Must be a load

I don't know why I didn't think of it (until you mentioned "It looks like the oil that comes in syringes.."), but maybe it could also be RSO (Rick Simpson Oil), made for sublingual intake

Okay had it tested... It's 99.99% activated (assuming this means decarbed) and 650mg thc9 per 1 gram serving. I'm assuming this probably means, being decarbed and all... That it's RSO? Is that a correct assumption?

Edit: also 15mg CBN

How does it fair on the tin foil test? Put a tiny dab on some tin foil and hold a lighter underneath(carefully!) and see if it leaves any residue, If it leaves a lot this will clog up pen style vaporizers.
