Good day to everyone. I've been a longtime lurker but finally decided to join the community!

Had my Air since the black Friday deal and enjoyed it to the fullest. Sadly I regret not picking up another battery but alas, I have a back-up solo...

Been keeping up on this thread but I haven't seen any posts on the dual charger and car charger on the Arizer site. Looks like we have USB connectivity after all! If anyone wants to fill us in on the implications of a USB charger for the Air, that would be great! I'm lookin at you @OF :brow:

I'm extremely interested in the AA (the SOLO is grrreat). I'm aware the stems are universal between the two units, but I haven't read/found much about the chargers? ARIZER sells different chargers for each unit (including the car-charger which is pictured with a USB cable for the AIR ), but doesn't specify much about either. Does the charger(s) for the SOLO also work for the AIR, or do they have different 'outputs'?

Anyone own the AA car-charger yet, which is pictured on ARIZER with a USB cable? Being able to charge the AA via USB would definitely be a positive for me, & for many others I'm sure. :haw:  :peace:

No word on the 'factory charger' yet (that I know of), but I expect it to come next month with the release of the product to distributors. AFAIK they never said anything about a car charger.

USB charging is a possibility (at least in some cases). This is the cable I cobbled up to test it:
LqGplI9.jpg

However, the current demand for charging (about 800mA) exceeds most USB ports (and the USB spec itself) so it's an open question IMO. It might just reduce the charge rate, or, it might trip the protection circuit in the port and shut it down. I tried two computers, my desktop tolerated it OK, the laptop locked the port out. Both Dells, BTW.

Using the same sort of cable plugged into an auto USB supply like this:
http://www.amazon.com/RCA-Mini-Power-Outlet-Charger/dp/B00BMGTASO/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1418928094&sr=8-8&keywords=auto usb adapter

The rub would seem to be the cable. Perhaps if we ask Pipes real nice......

I believe you're mistaken, while they sell a charger for Solo, no such accessory is listed for Air:
http://arizer.com/temp/en/24-arizer-air-parts-accessories

The chargers are definitely different, we have been warned by the maker not to try using the Solo charger as it's higher voltage (12VDC) is going to wreck the 5 Volt input charger in the Air. I agree, the plugs are different lengths (I listed them in an earlier post) but significantly a plug .7mm longer than the Solo charger will reach the contact in my Air. IMO that's much too small a margin to depend on. Do not confuse the two, useless in one case, fatal in the other if there's a mishap.

OF what is the port exactly called at the other end of the usb that goes into the air to charge it. I'd like to try and grab 1 on ebay and do a test ?

WTF?!?! You are absolutely correct (ATM). When I wrote my original post, I had been on their site for a while. I was not mistaken. It WAS ON THERE WEBSITE less than an hour ago!!! What the hell. Now I look like an idiot. I should have saved the photo (for sharing) &/or gone ahead and purchased the damn thing. Total Buzz-Kill :goon:

What happened!? Perhaps ARIZER got some kind of notification that "talk of USB chargers" is going on over in the FC forums. "QUICK...pull those chargers down off the site! We weren't supposed to sell those yet!!!"

4 X 1.7mm, but they come in several lengths. Most are standard EIAJ-02 (what Solo uses):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EIAJ_connector

However, you want the (somewhat rare, non standard) longer version Air uses.

You're welcome.

Anything is possible, I guess, but it also wasn't there earlier this morning when I checked to see of the new all glass Air stem I reported a day or two back was available. You'd think if they were going to update the page they'd do that too?

Still, there's no such thing (yet) as a charger that works for both Solo and Air, nor is there an official car or USB charger for Air AFAIK.

I see it, refresh your cache or something. New chargers are up

I just did. No joy. Beats me, could you please post the individual pages? TIA

Im confused , looking on ebay for something cheap to try , would this do even though its in canada and im in the U.S. - http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-A-to-DC...ader_Chargers_Sync_Cables&hash=item3395a9615c

Nope. Too short. Note:
"1. Standard USB Charger Cable for EIAJ-02 devices (4.0/1.7mm)"

EIAJ-02 spec parts are too short.

OK, it seems there are two different links (similar names) now working:
http://arizer.com/store/en/19-arizer-air-parts-accessories
http://arizer.com/temp/en/24-arizer-air-parts-accessories

and which you end up linking to depends on how you got there (nothing to do with cache)? Still no new stem...... IMO the web master has some work to do......
I thought something had to be wrong, thanks for finding the problem... I was going crazy.
FWIW, that's a lot of bucks for the mains charger......I wonder what's so special?

OF
Certainly not worth $45, whatever it is.

You're welcome, glad it could be sorted out.

While I agree it's expensive I sure don't know enough about it to say how much it's worth (to me). I also suspect there will be quite a few guys who buy it anyway for their own reasons. Strange as it might sound, I suspect a large fraction of vape buyers don't read these threads first?

Even though I highly doubt it in this case, for instance I think I'd pay that much for a charger that terminated sooner (or better still was adjustable) as such costs could easily be recovered over time in longer battery life.

BTW, you may well still be going crazy......what would I know about that, really?

They are updating the website at this moment. I was able to add an Air to cart for $0.02, now it's fixed and all accessories are listed.

Air Dual Battery Charger and travel charger, nice. Got a cart going with Two batteries, a silicone skin, and both chargers, which totals $117.95. More than I am hoping to spend, so I think I will just go with one battery, travel charger, and skin. The Air dual battery charger does not appear to have the option of plugging it into a cigarette car ac plug.

Tried to comb through most of the pages here-- may have missed it.. so forgive me beforehand! I was trying to find some input on the following:

1. Any compatible (i would assume rubber) "caps" for the bowl portion of the stems. You know, so I can pre-load 2x Stems and throw them in the pouch without all the good stuff spilling out?

2. Has anybody had experience with knock off water tubes? I was going to pick up the FBomb, but thought I'd ask.

3. I'm finding that I don't like the constriction on pulling the vape, I wish it had more airflow. Would the Turbo be my best option, or possibly a Ed's Wong?

PS. If you are thinking of buying an AA, you should get at least one extra backup battery. You're gonna need it!

Ok, i am just about to order this vape(hopefully tonight so i can get it before xmas), and really would like to know if this is social gathering friendly...will I have to teach people how to use this or can they just hit it? I am a social toker 80% of the time. I have the iolite, which is super easy but its not producing results for me anymore...so hence me shopping around.

only experience is 8 months of iolite which was super easy to use and pass around to my closest buds. Will this vape require special techniques to get the best clouds aka magic flght/lotus/firefly.. draw speed/intensity is no problem and easily explained (same with the iolite.. toke slow and steady)

...yeah, for $45 I'd want a quality battery charger, which IMO, is not depicted on the Arizer site. Those squiggly contact springs at the bottom of the charger look like they'd have a questionably short life...at least in my hands.

On a side note. Still hoping an air somehow appears under my Xmas tree! Santa?

What if a person drilled a larger hole in the mouth tip piece. Wouldn't that help with a faster draw? The Solo turbo stem would work. The Turbo GonG would be too hot, but would work with a water tool.

I've heard some folks complain that the knock off FBomb and the Pinnacle Pro WT leak. That's the problem with a water tube. I like a bubbler.

The Air is an easy unit to use. I would get an extra stem so you have a total of at least 3 in case you break one. Also get at least 1 extra battery.

Most of us use half inch vinyl caps, which you can get from PV:
http://www.planetvape.ca/solo-vaporizer-travel-caps-2.html

The low temperature ones are softer, easier to put on and get off. The high temperature ones are best saved for emergency capping of hot stems.

@Nytron -- looking at that pic, that is the perfect place for a cotton or hemp fiber filter. I just put on in mine yesterday but haven't started using it yet. Just a small amount pulled apart to make it wispy. It would make vaping that reclaim a breeze and keep things clean.

Are you just taking cotton from a cotton ball or qtip?

Hey Chainfire, I agree the backup battery is a must. I just received my order for the high temp caps OF is referring to. After a dip in hot water for a couple minutes they fit like a glove.
Wgh4TNR.png

the pack came with 100 so I'm offering to send a few out for free to anyone that wants them. PM me if you're interested.

[edit: Oh yeah, I was disappointed with the air flow as well but now I lift the stem up just a hair and it is a big improvement, as far as air flow.]
-------------------------

I also need to clean that stem. what's the easiest way to get some goodies back out of it? ISO wash?

I've had my air for about a week now and love the lil guy. The only other portable I have used is the puffit and the AA blows it out of the water in every way.

I did lose the oven cover on the 2nd day. It had come off twice before and I was able to get it back on but I have no idea when or where it finally came off for good. Minor annoyance though as everything else has exceeded expectations.
