Clean the wooden stems with booze like Bourbon or Whisky. That's what @Vitolo does. Use a qtip or pipe cleaners. Then let it dry.

Puffitup is having a sale too. Not sure about the Ascent.
Ascent is having a 20% discount on everything til end of the year

"Yeah... this is my Bourbon-barrel Sour Diesel..."
:)
Hey, if they barrel-age beers, why not?

My main concern with ISO would be drying out and damaging the wood stem. But now that I think about it, wood can be porous and there will be some ISO left in the stem. Most likely it will evaporate, but still... probably not a good idea to inhale any. Also a good reason to not ISO soak most whips, as, depending on the material, they will suck it up and release over time. Ick.

Now, that's not a lot of wood, and I'm not sure how much bourbon is being used, but I imagine that a slight nice taste could be imparted. Reminds me of filling the water tool with fancy booze, back in my youth/combustion-days. :)

Hello, first time poster, still an occacional combustor, i have just ordered this beast from the davinci website and it is beeing send as we speak. Im am realy looking forward to vaping and especially with this beautiffull divice. I do have a question for all the european users of the davinci. Did you recieve an european adaptor with your divice or not? I have asked for this in my 'orders pecifications' but when i, on multiple occasions, asked for specific details about the adaptors (wether they could handle the 220 voltage, if european type E adaptors where availlable) at the chat help on the website they tended to give only vague ansers and just gave couponcodes (whitch is also nice :) ).

short question: is anybody using the ascent adaptor on a 220volt grid?
Vape on, ill join the vaping team soon enough

This is the time of year to buy a new vaporizer with all the sales, 20% off on the Davinci and accessories. This unit is a nice vaporizer to have in the lineup. With its digital temp and selection of any temp up to 430 degrees.

It gives your herb a very good vapor flavor. Kinda like savoring a fine wine. The Ascent I don't use for a quick session. I like to draw the session out.......

My fav temp range is from 375 to 390. I start out low and work my way up. What's your fav temp range?

I guess we could pair our cannabis and wine together? I've seen that on Leafly.

I'm with Ratchett here, with the exception of sometimes starting even lower. Keep going until flavor is pretty well tapped, then jump to 365°F and get a whole new range at that point.

Then I'll dump into a <366°F container for any late night nightcaps I may want. :)

Ascent has become my go to portable. I introduced it to some friends during a beer bottle share and they were blown away by the flavor.

Greetings,
This post marks my read through nearly all of this threads 292 pages. Wow, lots of info. I purchased my Ascent from DV website during the BF sale and have been using it about once a day for my dry (non MJ) herbs. Even before reading through this thread or others, i had my eyes wide open when making the orders knowing that electronics and gadgets on occasion fail. That said, i'm grateful for all the pointers and have been incorporating many in my use of the Ascent.

Over time the wood ages and absorbs the oils from the different herbs that you are medicating with. . .
Thanks for your pointers and comments on the GonG and WonG stems. I'm going to order up a GonG from the DV site and probably a WonG too. There are so many different tastes in the garden-herbs i'm using i just don't want to taint the wood stems with any given flavor so i might just use the WonG for my favorite which is a Peppermint/Chamomile blend.

I have never really heard of folks having success with the jars but...
When i ordered my Ascent during the recent BF sale i had them include a bottle of the "Energy" eJuice. I'm not into e-cigs (never smoked cigs) but that eJuice is fun stuff with the flavors and cloud of vapors. I put in just three drops of that stuff in a bowl and can have well over 5 minutes of flavor & clouds.

i'll close this post on a sillier note:

You new guys don't know how to have fun. Back in the days when seeds and stems were...
;) I was born a month after Sputnik went up. Eight years later i was in the kitchen looking at two plates of brownies my mom had pulled out of the oven before she headed off to the corner market. They were soooo tempting. So i had one. Then another. And another. And. . . when my mom got back about 45 or so minutes later, i was giggling (without a clue as to why) on the couch with an empty plate next to me. She then informed me that the _other_ plate were the ones for me and my sisters. And proceeded to mix up another batch. . .Of course separating out seeds and stems.

We have EU chargers for you! Don't worry :)
I'm in China now, I'm not sure if the outlets are the same in the UK, but I'm using a US charger out here with no problems.

Me finds sativas require less heat than the indys ,soo 355-360 degrees works 4 me ~ indys get a

little more juice @ 385 - 395

@Davinci_vaporizer just bought your Ascent recently. The unit not only does its job nicely, it is a beaut to look, and hold. Museum piece of portable vaporizer history.

As you know, the revision of the original includes an external latch to unite the two pieces together.

Because it does its work very well, new owners/users may be a bit baked, and end up breaking off the tiny plastic nub of the heater latch by twisting it open, in the wrong direction.

Perhaps a directional Arrow sticker would prevent such mishaps--not as difficult as heat stamping one on.

A fellow vaper who bought his Ascent at the same time was raving about his precious gem when he tried to open it up. The wrong way.

I put the poor broken plastic latch bit in a small plastic bag for him, & last saw him leaving, kicking himself in the butt.

Because it is external, the latch has an additional danger of being broken off, accidentally.

If the locking mechanism is internal, that probability is eliminated.

A spring-loaded ball bearing latch is one possibility.

Thank you, for an awe inspiring piece of art, Sir.

i have never tried it at such a low temperature. Hmmm. Going have to try. I have always started at 360.
I know that i'm in a minority in that i'm not using any of my vapes with cannabis...so we are not comparing apples and oranges...
BUT i can tell you that for some _herbs_ such as Peppermint that starts to vape at 212F, or Clove @257F, it is a real treat to have such amazing flavor at a relatively cool temp. I will often spend an hour vaping cool temp & great tasing herbs for sheer enjoyment (and of course the health bennies).

Thanks for the solid suggestion. Mine is actually broken on my personal unit I believe.. Well, one of them ;)

There is a magnet that also helps to secure the bowl so the latch missing shouldn't be a problem other than aesthetics. We are definitely making sure to take close looks at the moving parts on our vaporizers to come.

Thanks for your response, @Davinci_vaporizer!

Rare earth magnets small, with strong mag-fields, can be used for many applications, such as locks, and latches, among others. And is, as you said.

It can be a concern if the magnet is stored next to a wallet with credit cards; or if a person, baked, unknowingly place their precious device in their vest pocket. Next to their pacemaker. All is history.

All hypothetical, of course.

The Ascent, with a comfortable seal, would be the connoisseurs' vape of choice.

Eye Candy. A Rolls Royce, or should I say, a Maserati, of contemporary portable vaporizers.

Best Wishes!

(PS With a small play on the hinge connecting the unit together, when small, powerful magnets come in alignment, they pull the bottom compartment, with a gasket, up. Shut. Sealed. And delivered....)

however magnets lose power when heated. When i was looking for a vape to buy i have noticed that the pax used magnets to hold its bottom peace to the herb chamber and it realy confussed me. When i was in highschool i remembered a lessen in physics where the teacher explained that magnets loose power when heated and remain powerfull when cooled. this makes me wonder why on earth you would use it so close to your heating chamber as the pax does. With the da vinci and its oval disign i gues you could place the magnet ballbearing as far away from the chamber as possible, i guess it is worth a shot if they test some ideas out :).

Good point, @mandelbrod! Spring-loaded bearings, then?

Supercooling magnets for superconduction isn't a option, is it? Silly question. A MagLev vaporizer.

Imagine.

As you say, experimentation is a key in applications.

HIGHLY suggest you consider testing how many times a door hinge can swivel open/closed before failure of the device (Maybe a robot that can do 20 opens/closes, then someone to test the unit on a charger, and then heat to 400F. Rinse, Repeat

Still waiting on those spacers, any other info you can give us about them? Eta? Design? Size? Shape?

Everything has its ten nano-seconds, I suppose. Immortality awaits us, after.

It's a delicate issue, a delicate subject, of a delicate device.:ko:

Good memory, but not quite spot on in this case. The so call "Curie Temperature" (hubby to Madame Curie of Radium fame in fact) is where the mechanical vibrations (heat) gets so great it overcomes the MMF (Magna Motive Force, what aligns the spins of the electrons to make a material magnetic) and they scramble. This temperature varies widely with materials, some of them are below room temperature. The important bit to us here is that temperature is high, over 1000F for these type magnets. Which is lucky for us since when such materials cool they are again 'magnetic' (can be effected by an external magnetic field) if they were a permanent magnet before, they no longer are. They are not a magnet when they cool, it's a destructive change in that respect.

This effect is, in fact just what erasable CDs are all about. They are recorded magnetically in 'bits' (like a tape would be), read optically, and when you want to erase you bump the power of the laser that reads them up enough to heat that spot locally past the Curie Temperature erasing it.

But we don't get hot enough vaping to effect these guys, and if we did we'd destroy them doing so.

Supercooling magnets for superconduction isn't a option, is it? Silly question. A MagLev vaporizer.

Fun idea, I like it. But superconductivity has to do with electrical resistance, not magnetism. It's just useful in electromagnets, where it lowers the power needed to make the magnetic field happen. There are maglev systems that use permanent magnets as well.

Counter intuitive as it is, power in electromagnets doesn't matter. It's the current (specifically 'Ampere turns', Amps times turns), not Watts. The magnet on your refrigerator needs no battery......no real work is done by a magnet (at least to a Physicist). It's sort of like a spring in that respect.l

While I like the idea, I think the venting liquid nitrogen vapors would be a dead give away....... More research is called for.

Not taken seriously I hope, just venting some, chillin :shit:

Of course not, still a fun idea. Not the easiest way to make a latch for sure.

And the science fits with the other post I was responding to at the time. The odd member that might care for such stuff can enjoy it or not, the rest can glaze over, shake their heads knowingly and move on?
