I go where the thrills are
My FF didn't used to do this, but a couple months ago it started needing daily recharge before use. I thought the battery was starting to die and ordered a spare, but so far the old one keeps going fine. I just have to charge it earlier on the day I use it.

I can live with that, and hopefully postpone the day it goes bad, to the distant future.

They are like old soldiers....they don't die so much as fade away. My oldest batteries seems to have about half or maybe 60% of the charge-life they had when new. I actually have three unopened spares...I'm waiting for one of the old ones to die completely before opening any of them. So far, though, they continue to limp along.

I'd like to announce that I've created a Best of the Firefly Vaporizer thread based on a nomination by @marduk. I included a couple of early posts with introductory information, but I didn't verify whether they were still current. I'd appreciate it if someone could check this. I also encourage all of you to nominate the best posts you've read here. Read How the "Best Of" threads work for details. I'd really like to see volunteers—yes, multiple—to review the whole thread. I bet you'd be surprised what you learn.

got my replacement battery today, very quick shipping across the country after i emailed them. Pretty simple overall, and now i have two perfect batteries for upcoming travels (and a third, barely useful one i guess lol)

I do feel old. I wasn't sure about best-of nomination etiquette. You know how I am about rules. :p

I did start re-reading the thread. Kinda surreal, like re-living the past year. Good times.

There's no rule against nominating your own posts. In fact, if it's informative and especially if it answers a frequently asked question, I encourage you to do so.

Got one of these about a month ago, man what a fuckin awesome machine. No noticible battery problems, and I tend to overcharge mine (pass out while its charging) or charge it when its not fully drained because I know I'll be utilizing it soon.

Probably not great for it, but as of now I'm still in the clear :D

Has anyone with an accurate scale weighed how much the FF holds? My kitchen scale is not up to the task.

Don't quote me, but I believe you can max it out at around .2, with a pretty tight pack. That's what it feels like at least. Maybe closer to .15. But around there, ballpark.

I'd like to announce that I've created a Best of the Firefly Vaporizer thread ...
Since the main Firefly topic thread has become so huge, I wish it would be broken into sub-topics in the future, such as:
Firefly: Techniques of use
Firefly: Mechanical problems and battery life
Firefly: Combustion
Firefly: Enhancements
Firefly: Suggestions for improvement
Firefly: Comparative reviews
Firefly: Misc. (media stories, personal anecdotes, etc.)

No way! That's seriously awesome, happy for them because they make such a quality product.

Pretty cool to be an owner of the techiest vaporizer of 2014 as well

Hello,

I have recently purchased the mighty and minivap. The taste and efficiency are great. I really like the firefly for the one hitter accessibility and taste. Can anyone tell me if the FF tastes better than these two I own? I have major VAS

I have no experience with the Mighty or MiniVap, but the Firefly tastes pretty exceptional.....though, from what I read, the Mighty also tastes pretty awesome, and honestly that would be my Vape of choice if it was more in my price range, I really like the aesthetics and I like the ability to hit while charging.

That being said, I love my FireFly. If you wanted one, it probably would do you pretty good, but really I don't know how much better the taste is going to be compared to the Mighty (I am fairly certain the Mighty is also convection....I may be wrong on this so don't quote me)

Also, apoligies for ignorance, but what is VAS?

@luv2fly I see you want a MOD to delete your post, but I still saw it before you edited it. That seemed to good to be true. On paper, it seemed kind of legit, everything somewhat checked out. But the price drop makes me sketchy.

Vaporizer acquisition syndrome. I can't stop buying vaporizers and I am not a rich man.

A corollary to the dreaded musician's disease....GAS....Gear Acqusiition Syndrome. It's ended more marriages than VAS.

Back on topic, I haven't tried either of those vapes but of all the portables I've used, nothing comes close to the coolness and richness of the FF vapor favor. The FF has a few flaws, some substantial....but all those shrink to minimal in the face of that amazing FF taste. For some of us, nothing else comes close.

This will never happen. There is no gain in fracturing threads, but there is a lot of pain—especially for moderators. (Yes, the amount of work something causes for us does matter.) People would need to search multiple threads instead of one, because there is no way to isolate a sub-topic. Even if we moved posts around, there would still be posts that covered more than one sub-topic. For example, even if you could separate "Technique" from "Combustion", do you think everyone else could, or would? I certainly don't. Even worse, if we did it for the FF we'd have to do it for all the other vaporizers. I don't think you've considered what a management nightmare that is, or how anyone would know which thread contained what.

The link posted in the deleted post is almost certain to be selling a counterfeit.

mitchgo61,
Anyone have experience taking the FF on a plane? I'm heading home for the holidays and was considering taking my FF with me. I'll be flying from San Diego to New York and back.

I plan to toss the unit in my checked luggage. My spare battery will go in my carry on bag due to TSA regulations. I can get the unit 95% clean with little trouble, but I don't know if it's possible to get it 100% clean. Little bits of flower have built up in the cracks between the silicone seal and the edge of the lid. I'm not sure if being 100% clean really matters, as I doubt anyone will give the vaporizer a second look, but I suppose there's always a risk. My other option would be to just ship it, which I'm totally comfortable doing. Thoughts?

Greeting all FFs, (Firefly friends) Curiously enough, my Firefly which I purchased in May, and which I use daily, ceased to function on the exact day of the Firefly 1st anniversary. A cosmic bummer, fer sure. I communicated with Caroline at Firefly in order to orchestrate a warranty return/replacement. She checked my unit's serial number against their database to ensure that my unit was not one of the counterfeit clones showing up on the market. My unit is authentic. Yes, imitation is truly the most sincerely form of flattery. Imitation is also the surest route to vaporization meltdown, as knock-off units of just about anything do not perform properly for very long. My Firefly was purchased from Vapeworld. Caroline told me that there are fake Firefly units on the marketplace. I look on eBay sometimes, and I am skeptical of "new" Fireflies being sold for significantly less money. Like my mom told me: "If it sounds too good to be true, . . . " So, beware of "screaming deals" online. Obviously, counterfeit units do not have warranty protection, and you could get burned (pun intended). Avoid combustion, my friends. Shop from a reputable source. Firefly has added a tab on their website which illustrates the telltale signs of counterfeititude. Be a savvy shopper, and, vape on !
