hi guys due to getting a elite with the ability to turn up side and use with my d -020 bubbler I need a little advice.

being a h2.2 owner and reading this thread pretty much from start to finish until I got the elite and d -020 ive never really used my herbies this way, even though there is lots of posistive feedback on this thread about it.

the one play ive had with the elite and bubb I didnt really get major clouds.
ive seen a vid on u tube theres a guy using a h2.2 with the same bubb and getting epic clouds.

any tips please? more erb better? pump assisted better? do u use the crucible or just just throw the herb in expresso style?

ill try and link the vid

im not getting anything as milky as the above vid. do you have to grind to get results like this?

How much herbs are you using? On my HA, I pack about 1/4th of the way and pack it down until it covers the crucible screen (cover the bottom if you're using the WA). I don't grind, but I do break it up in big pieces now and then. I use a bong and get a lot of vapors. With the d020, you should be able to milk it. Try taking a slower draw and it takes a couple hits before all your materials heat up

chunks of material maybe a 1/4 of a crucible but loose not rammed down. maybe I need to put a tiny bit more in. I think im pulling too hard on it I am getting vapor but just not that milky.
ive tried it briefly with the pump but that was worse.
ill give it another go and be more generous with the erb and pull it slower and see what happens.

do you get milk like that on 350 or does it take 400?

I'm not a cloud chaser, but I get a lot of vapors with my 1 footer. Since you're using a bubbler you should get good hits. Pack enough to cover the whole screen. Try about halfway this time. Tight pack and leave the crucible in while warming up. I stay on 375 and eventually finish around 390ish. Adjust your draw. In the beginning of the sesh, I do slow long puffs, slowly getting the heat spreaded. After a couple hits, you should get clouds. It's convection so you need to give it a little foreplay lol

EDIT: 350 seems a little low for clouds in the HA imo

are you using extra, fine screens? One in the bottom of the crucible and one on top of the load? Imo this is paramount for good production. Otherwise your herb flies all around, hindering that beautiful expresso vaporization

also, I'm not sure if the elite is different in this reguard. But you need to cut the crucible down some to use it with the TONG adapter in the 2.2 , and I think with the crucible works much better than without.

Hey FC fam,

I love my herbalaire for starters, but I have a question regarding hash. I'm a little dry on flowers, but have a good amount of hash. The question is, can the HA do hash? And if it can, is there a method of doing it or can I just drop it in the crucible?

Thanks

I have had good success from sandwitching the hash between 2 extra fine screens and cranking it all the way to 400. Oil didn't work so great though

He was at 400*F, and using "elite mode"

Just picked up the 2.2. and I love the efficiency. But not too happy at the taste department, might upgrade to a planet vape glass adapter and see if that makes a difference. Does anyone know if the HA is pure convection like the SSV? Because I noticed SSV taste a lot better.

Salutations VaporNinja,

Does anyone know if the HA is pure convection...

No, it's not and i might want to argue its a particular combination of radiative/conduction + convective heat sources that makes such extraction performance possible in the HerbalAire.

For more tasting i'd seek brief release while i found the HA v2.1 was quite slow in comparison to my modded VG Pipe.

And the REAL answer is..........??

Not really hard to figure out, IMO. HA is basically a 'poor man's Volcano'......anyone think the Volcano is "a particular combination of radiative/conduction + convective heat sources'?

In both cases air is heated in one location and carries the heat to another location (the load) to do the work (evaporation).......the very definition of convection. The work is done by a moving fluid (in this case air) not by direct contact (conduction) or by photons from a much hotter source to a cooler load (radiation).

Overwhelmingly convection IMO.

Same as VG is a convection vape. Here again, the energy to do the work is done by air heated elsewhere. None would work in a vacuum. Conduction and radiation work better in a vacuum.

I think it clearly uses a combination of convection and conduction, as most convection vapes do. Anything that heats the herb container itself will add at least SOME conduction, even when convection is the goal. I always tap out the crucible in my HA if I don't intend to exhaust it in one session to avoid waste. The vape WILL continue to cook herb without being pulled on from the ambient heat.
That being said the lions share of the extraction is done by convection and the vape should be considered a convection vape for that reason.

And my experience with it suggests it is a VERY tasty vape at lower temps. If you are not getting good flavor with this vape I suspect you may be starting at too high a temp.

Salutations,

Well the question was formulated as follows exactly:

Does anyone know if the HA is pure convection like the SSV?

Overwhelmingly convection IMO.

Either it's pure convection or it's not, so my answer stands unchanged.

Same as VG is a convection vape.

Personally i've toyed with multiple HerbalAire vs VaporGenie vs Arizer V-Tower configurations and observed great differences in the level of convection purity in any case...

After a few days of using it, the taste seem to have dramatically improved. Hits are very smooth, kind of reminds of the Crafty. I believe the heat exchange is also very similar to each other, except better heat retention in HA due to larger heat retaining mass. Best of all, I can make a session out of 0.1 gram!

Yes, way too many vapes need you to finely grind almost .5 to use. I'm a lightweight and I hate grinding so I'm very happy I ended up buying an HA my very first try. I was less lucky with portables.

The HA is not only a great vapes for newbies, but a great vape in general.

I've been using mine as my daily driver for over 6 1/2 years now (still runs like new), and have also tried many other vapes in that time. I still haven't found one that matches its overall performance, versatility, reliability and value. It is certainly one of the most under rated vapes in FC, and doesn't get nearly the recognition and respect that it deserves, imo.
