YMMV but here's my AU$0.02:

Never heard reliable reports of "fake" solos. At about US$145 via Massdrop to Sydney, they're probably not expensive enough to knock off. AFAIK, Arizer are widely regarded as being unusually reliable in honouring their warranty.

Incidentally, if the oven heats up when you run it at level 7 for a few minutes, it seems hard to understand why it might not be working well for you assuming you have good quality herb and inhale slowly. If the oven is getting hot, the resulting slow flow of hot air will inevitably extract the good stuff in my experience - it's just physics!

Not something to boast about on Facebook using your real identity for sure. Use the Hola (free) plugin http://hola.org or a VPN (about $5/month) to hide your ip address when you post and it will be impossible for the Brandesian metadata police to track your posts.

If the unit is covered by warranty and you live in Oz, Arizer will likely ask their Oz reps at http://www.australianvaporizers.com.au/store/ to get in touch - they'll ask you pay for postage to them and they will pay the return on the repaired or new unit - at least that's what happened to me about 18 months ago.
Don't mail used stems! Not required for warranty repairs and they tend to stink - possibly enough to attract a trained dog. If it's well used, it's not hard to clean if you're comfortable (or can find someone who likes tinkering!) taking the covers off - a few minutes with a can of compressed air will remove any residual solid ABV around the battery/circuit board compartment in the main body and some isopropyl alcohol on a lump of cotton wool will remove left over condensed material from the oven and the aluminium covers before transport. If it's not sticky, it's probably not stinky!

Thanks for the reply mate. Great to meet another Aussie here.

I bought the unit from Ebay when I got home from Holland as Baba wanted $275 Euro. There is no chance I'd get a warranty or replacement and it was 3 years ago. I have a good relationship with australianvaporizers.com.au and have bought all my stuff from there for years but am not after anything for free so wouldn't hit them up about it.

I still think it is dodgy to send a used Vape through our post especially with the new security measures that have been announced today due to what has happened here in the last 24 hours. It looks like it is the only option for me though with my Mighty unfortunately.

Now that I have had my Solo it is time for an update. It has replaced my Vapir Rise as my main vape. My only real issue, and I don't even think that it is a real issue, is that the battery life seems shorter than I expected even though i have been following the charging advice. But it is good enough and the problem may have been my expectations. I take my time working through a bowl and almost always have to re-power-on because I exceed the 12 minutes, so that is probably a factor..

And I kept reading here, and in past messages as well, and youtube videos, getting more and more envious of those who have gone the route of water filtering.

Since my envy was joined to both thrift (I'm cheap) and impatience I took myself down to my local vape/head shop since I knew they had a huge variety of waterpipes of all kinds and lots of little glass parts to see if we could rig up something (this is CO so things are looser than in a lot of places).

As it turns out the answer was simplicity itself. They had an inexpensive glass bong whose downstem was held in place with a rubber grommet. And the size was a perfect match for my Solo stem, which I had brought with me. So for $25 I bought that bong, brought it home, slid in the Solo stem in place of the downstem, and tried it out and it worked great!. I may still get something a little more elaborate using a gong adaptor and a better bong, but then again this works well as is. And I am more of a good enough is the enemy of better ind of guy, i.e., if it ain't broke . . .

Anyway, thanks again to all the folks here who make buying and using a Solo such a no-brainer.

ok so i'm finally tired of using my SOLO+tinywaterbubbler+silicone gasket thing(rigged up its safe). The SOLO deserves better! The hits are satisfying but the whole operation has to be held a certain way. I'm ordering the d020. I'm not sure to go with the d020 or the d020-d? Should I go GonG or WonG? where is the best place to get the adapters. I'm hoping opinions pour in. :brow:

I got the D020. I liked the way the Solo is centered in the middle of the water chamber when a gong or wong is used. I prefer to use it with the bent stem though like this:

A piece of tubing with grommet protects and seals the glass connection.

That's reassuring - if it still holds a charge and heats up, it should be quite capable of extracting vapour....

More over, given it's age, the 'holds a charge' (battery condition) is not a mission critical factor as it can still be run in (real) PA mode. Finding a supply (7 to 9 Volts, 2.5 Amps or more) locally should not be a serious problem as you can always do what I did when I first got my first Solo and cut the cord from the supplied charger and putting a convenient connector pair in the center. I then put the matching connector on the PA supply and could switch back and forth.

I used connectors like this (commonly used in CCTV and similar security installations):
http://www.amazon.com/Triangle-Bulb...4&keywords=cctv+connectors&pebp=1418742152007

Proven, cheap, and need no special tools to use. Others work fine, of course.

The adaptation is a lot like my set-up, although my water tool is simpler. I will probably get the adapter from pv at some point but for now I am enjoying my simple set-up. You cannot wrench a refugee from the 70s into the modern world too quickly.

Thank goodness that with water-vaping you do not have to worry about all of the tech developments that have occurred in the bong world, compared to the old days. Heck, the very first bong I ever tried back in about '74 did not have any moving parts at all. It was a no-screen, one-hitter made of ceramic and the bowl was molded right into it.

I like to switch back and forth from dry to wet and back. With the tubing and grommet on the end I use it in the D020 or just insert an Arizer balloon mouthpiece for dry:

It's very exciting - I got my PV adapter today. Still on the look out for the DO20. I also wrote to exhale about my side circ breaking after it completely sticking my new adapter. Stone Monkey writes to me personally ( not sur why but I bought from him directly when I bought the unit). I don't know what he can do but he does know that I'm happy with my solo and the exhale thread is full of questions about a smaller more portable unit.

As always can't wait for Friday!!!

I found one on eBay and I'm wondering if it should be working ''DC 9V 3A 27W Power Supply Charger 3000mA New''

Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-110V-250...wer_Supplies&hash=item33812580f3#ht_664wt_808

Would it be working to use the Arizer Solo while it is plugged?

It should work with older models, after you change the plug of course. You want the "4.0mm x 1.7mm" connector they otherwise offer really. There are adapters or you can cut the cable if you can't buy direct.

However, and this is important, it'll only work with older Solos. Those in the last year or so are different.

To test, turn your unit on on battery and start heating. Then plug in the charger, if it continues heating it's the new style and will not run true PA (it needs a functional battery for part of the power). If, instead, it stops heating and shifts to charging instead you're good to go.

I just bought mine last week, serial number starts with MIG so I'm assuming this wouldn't work?
I had completely forgotten about the plug, I found this one instead:

Are you saying that the new model need the power adapter or that it doesn't and can charge while being used like a normal power adapter would do the job?
