Something about serial numbers? There's something refreshingly retro about buying a MFLB from a human being in a headshop. And even haggling a bit (my wife is the grind queen, I have to keep her in the car or she'll totally grind the guy's profit margin to negative. By the time she's done they're happy to let her have it for free, just so she STOPS. And she's all smiles and cute and likeable while she does it. I was looking at this expensive very elaborate water tool, and I said it was the best in the shop, and went off looking at more affordable pieces, and next thing I know she's up at the counter grinding the Tibetan dude and they're laughing and she gets it for $200.)

And, wow, what a bunch of cool hardcores in THIS corner ;-)

Yo, @puddleglum, can you provide some links, or ideally, your own photos? That seems like a WICKED rig.

This is one object that will NOT be part of "the internet of things".

I wuz just thinkin', it used to be the banks had all these separate networks with zero connection to the public internet. Michael Milken had just one 9600 baud line from Hollywood to New York. So, I guess all that's been merged, and they wonder how things get hacked. And your iToaster is eavesdropping on your kitchen conversations.

This is not my photo, hope it is okay to link here?

I should add that, if you remove the (unnecessary for our purposes) screen, it is possible to push in the stem all the way so that the incredibowl is flush to the flight box.

My only word of warning is to watch out for combustion, for example working the carb too aggressively while holding in the battery too long. The m420 does not change the basic rules of MFLB hygiene: finely grind the material, shake up the load between hits, don't combust, keep the screen clean, etc.

Thank you all for letting me gush about my new toy. :)

Now if I can ask another question: I'm thinking about ordering an Orbiter by year-end to take advantage of the lifetime warranty dealie. What's the verdict on the Orbiter: yea or nay? The thing seems well-crafted, not to mention versatile. Looks like I can use it with any vape that has a 14mm GonG adapter, like a Solo or Lotus. I've poked around this thread and searched the web and really can't find a single bad review anywhere...

Hi All

Just wondering how well the concentrate trays from MFLB work, any info much appreciated

Thanx
They work well, much better with the PA than with batteries. I don't bother with the trays without the PA actually. Mesh tray for clean concentrates (hash oil, CO2) so that the mesh breaks the oil's surface tension as it vaporizes so that it doesn't spill out, and the blank tray for everything else like melty bubble hashes and such.

I combusted in my MFLB while using the PA. The screen is very discolored in one area, like black, but still intact. I purchased it on cyber whatever day, so it's fairly new. Do you all think it's still okay? It still works, but my ABV didn't get as dark. That might have been me holding back after burning a new toy. Thanks for your guidance.
Yes it's fine, it will taste funny for about a half dozen trenches and after a dozen or so you won't notice it anymore. I think it's happened to all of us at one point or another. Best I do for it is a brush cleaning, then a little bit of ISO, then dry burn, air it out, and then go again. Doing stuff like vaping hash oil and hash will clog the screen and ruin it way faster than a small unintentional combustion event.

Thank you all for letting me gush about my new toy. :)

Should be good considering it's from Magic Flight ;) Small water volume and appropriate type of perc. Yes you can use it as-is with a 14mm vape, or get an adapter for going up to 18mm for more options.

I use my Orbiter way more than I ever expected. I got a 14/18 adapter so I could use it with my FlashVAPE.

I really like the look. It's perfectly Magic-Flight. The bubbler itself is made of thick glass and gives a glass klutz like me confidence that it won't break easily. I find it easy to clean and fill.

One thing that might bother some is that the draw is fairly restricted. As many of you know, I frequently post that if the draw feels restricted then you're pulling too hard, so as long as you don't fight it you'll be fine. Another minor issue that might trigger your OCD is that the glass won't easily stay perfectly upright, meaning that it's usually tilted slightly in the stand. This in no way affects how well it works.

I'd like to announce that I've created a Best of the Magic-Flight Box thread based on a selection of posts I've made from the first 150 pages. I also encourage all of you to nominate the best posts you've read here. Read How the "Best Of" threads work for details. I'd really like to see volunteers—yes, multiple—to review the whole thread. I bet you'd be surprised what you learn.

Please don't assume that I got everything in the first 150 pages. Thanks for your help.

For those with PA 2.0, anyone have the car adapter die? Had mine about 2 months, love it and use it often but plugged it in to car outlet today and no red light on the adapter.
Anyone know where to get replacement car adapter for a good price? Or whether there is a cheap and easy fix?

Only thing in there is a fuse, unscrew the knurled ring that holds the spring loaded plunger on the tip in, there's a fuse under it.

... remove the silly thing and hunt around for a suitable bolt you can replace it with --- NOT!!!!

Are there any clever MFLB concealers, like the stealth cup adapter for the Solo? Maybe a Tall Redwoods Asthma Inhaler? Or something that looks like a Bunny Slipper?

I worked in a plant where the "electrical techs" were issued jumpers with each tech's ID number on it, and all the plain jumpers got thrown away. If they jumpered out a safety function (as they invariably did) they never forgot to come back and get their jumper. Before that it was a free for all, and ALL the safeties would get bypassed.

.

Thanks for posting.
That perc has minimal holes / minimal diffusion so I'd imagine great flavor??
Is the MFLB water whip a 14 mm fitting?
And both Orbiter ports are 14 mm?

Also, doesn't Orbiter come with two whips?
I thought I saw Orbiter kit on sale recently but cannot find it? Anybody know where?

thanks

Both are 14mm and the showerhead does produce great flavor especially with minimal water. It does come with 2 whips ... one 2' and the other 3' iirc. Awesome little water pipe.

I was just staring at my walnut MFLB again. It's so simple and so totally suited to its task it's beyond gorgeous. Wow. The concept! And it requires as much technique as any worthwhile skill.

Some people get greedy, overpack it. Gotta leave room for the shake and flippin' the trench! It's so efficient it only takes a tiny pinch anyway. And who wants to pick up a vape to suck on old ABV? Tiny loads can be fully absorbed in one session. Go little Launch Box!

Holy moly! They got their patent? WOW!

The last one I tried for I became completely disenchanted. The examiner as if deliberately refused to comprehend the major difference that our design introduced and kept going back to HP and IBM patents. $20k in patent attorney time and a total waste. It's lovely they got a US patent. A lot of good it will do them, world-wide, unfortunately. Our customs people don't even defend US companies from imports that violate our patents.

Tracking for my UFO says it'll be delivered on Friday. I'll be sure to post here about it once I have a chance to try it out!

i just got mine
its got a dent in the bottom part that seals it.

i have to push down on the UFO to mate the bottom to the glass to seal it.
otherwise it won't bubble.
idk if thats how it is or because I have a dent in mine.

Maybe it's a dead man switch? When you're too stoned to hold the cover down, it automatically interrupts the session?

yeah, it has to be held down the whole draw.

i figure I would see if anyone else has the same issue because I'm not sure if its because of the dent.
maybe thats just how it is?

You're not seriously suggesting overworked Customs clerks get in the business of interpreting patent law and holding up potentially legal shipments are you? That's what courts are for, right? Same as domestic manufacture.

I'm actually having the exact same problem as you. I saw someone reporting on Reddit that they didn't need to press theirs down at all to get a proper seal. It seems like the dent was caused by the UFO having a stem pressed into it during shipping. I just sent MF an email about the issue, so I'll let you know what they say.

I bought Slow-Blow 4-amp 250-volt fuses part no. 270-1066 from RadioShack. The fuse on mine blew a long time ago. Make sure it's slow blow or it will not hold up to the amperage of the PA 2.0.

Went to Radio Shack and bought 2A replacements and works like a charm again. Thanks for info. Why did you get 4A replacement?
