Discontinued Purple-Days Vaporizer

JJ420

chillin on the couch, sippin off a 22 ounce.
I purchased your other one lwien, lol! :brow:

HellsWind - the UD is a nice vape no doubt, but the PD still remains supreme when it comes to efficiency. Seriously a nickel bag could very well last two days with one. :mental:

Yup. I really think that the PD has, is, and will be, the efficiency king. It really is amazing when you empty a tube, look at the amount of ABV that comes out and exclaim, "I got high on THAT ?!?".

Edit: I just got a Christmas card from Tom and Pammy. Really nice after all these years.

Will be putting mine up for sale shortly. Only used 3 times. Stay tuned.......
I'm just gonna drop this quote here from the rules page...
No selling or soliciting items on the forum. The only exception is the Classifieds section, which is the only public area on the forum where you can mention that you have items for sale or trade (this includes posting that you're thinking of selling/trading). It is also the only public area where you can request to buy items. If you would like to direct a member to a classified ad please use the private conversation system.

Just out of curiosity, why? It had a slightly smaller SS tip in the stem, and was/is very efficient, but no more so than the CRZ. I find the UD even more efficient than either PD/CRZ. The increased air flow, a slightly higher temp, and domed screens for the SS tip (ability to have an even smaller amount than the PD stems) provide better extraction as far as I can tell.

That's most likely the #1 reason. What is it again? 1/4 inch compared to 5/16'' everyone else uses.

I've found my CRZ every bit as efficient as my PD. It even seems to have a more pure taste, w/out the wood in the background.

Hey there

I've got an early Purple Days model that it is working fine. It was one of the earlier models with the blue LED and although the light doesn't work anymore, the unit itself performs as it always has. Slow warm up time, but fine once it's up to heat. I don't vape enough to leave it on 24/7 but sometimes I will run it with the oil cup for hours at a time.

I'm curious about whether I am missing out by not upgrading at this point to a newer vape, log-style or not?

Vaping at home for me is either on my own or with a friend and I really enjoy the efficiency of log vapes. I don't need balloons or to pack large party bowls.

Ideally I want a quality home unit and a quality portable unit but don't really have the budget right now to buy two new units at the quality level I would like so I am wondering whether the PD is still up to snuff or whether things have improved with vapes that I am missing out by still rocking the PD.

For home use, I've been looking at the S & B Plenty, and the Nano, Heat Island and Underdog log vapes and getting a bit of lust for all these lovely new models out there. I have no idea how the Plenty compares to a log, although I read that it has a large bowl and may not be as efficient as I would like.

On the portable side, I was thinking perhaps of buying a good portable for use out of the house, maybe a Firefly or Arizer Air (or maybe even a Crafty if I can find the bucks).

I if know that the PD is holding it's own for now as my at-home unit, it makes it easier to find a budget for a portable knowing that the home front is already covered!

Another option I suppose is to buy one unit that works both at home and out and about — maybe a Solo or an S & B Mighty to cover both the home and portable side of things, but have no idea how the PD compares to these models.

Any thoughts appreciated!

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right
Glad to hear somebody else still has a working PD. Mine is still going strong, but I'm down to my last stem. Since I don't think you can get them anyplace I'm a tad paranoid about breaking it. Still love it and am always amazed at just how little it uses.

I either have or have tried most of what you mentioned. I'm not a big fan of the Firefly, as a portable device. I find it awkward to reload on the go and the battery life just plain sucks so you pretty much need to buy and carry around an extra battery unless its just a short outing. But it does produce fine and tasty vapor. You generally can't go wrong with Arizer products and the S&B vapes are excellent too although there are some bugs emerging on the Crafty/Mighty side.

Although a daunting prospect reading the threads for particular vapes is a good idea. In particular the first couple and say the last half dozen pages (and now some vapes even have a "Best of" thread here on FC which provides more concise information.

And really, can you have too many vapes?

I'm happy to say I have two working units! I think you can get PD style stem from Underdog.

@bongoman
If you're happy with your PD, I would say go after a portable. The Arizer Air or Solo would probably suit you just fine. As Sinclue said though, it's best to read the threads and choose what sounds best for your usage style.

Ya may want to go into the classifieds and let people know that you are in the market for some stems. There may be some here that have more stems than they know what to do with and would be willing to part with a few.

Shout out to @Madcap79 . :rockon:He contacted me directly with an offer for some stems.

Long live the PD! They literally don't make them like that anymore.

Once again the generous and supportive nature of the FCers comes through.

Received three stems, a bunch of tiny screens, and a couple of aromatherapy cups gratis from @Madcap79 .

Used my PD for the first time in months (recently acquired an Herbalizer and have been playing with that a lot).

Once again I am blown away by the efficiency of this little beast. A tiny, tiny amount seems to go on and on. And you can let it sit there and come back and take another hit in a few and it'll still be tasty. Don't know how the other log vapes (Underdog, etc) are doing, but I doubt they can beat the PD for efficiency. Now that I have extra stems again I'm a happy camper.

Haha looks like I'm not the only one scared about his PD dying

Mine is a clone, but definitely worried what I would do without this vape. Woke up a few days ago and it was cold :(

Turned out the power supply had died, but I was still very scared lol

I have an EE degree so hopefully I might be able to get it working again if it dies, but no guarantees.

Is Underdog considered the closest vape to PD currently?

Underdog, HI, and E-Nano are all good PD substitutes. E-Nano has built in variable voltage but I prefer UD to the Nano. That is strictly personal preference. Can't go wrong with any of them. HI has a waiting list of at least a year right now. I believe.

I actually have an HI, I love it but I haven't found it a good replacement for the PD as it uses much more material in my experience.

I also looked at the e-nano, interesting. If the UD can use PD stems I think that may be the direction I lean next.
