After having this unit for a few days I'm really impressed with it. This thing delivers as promised. I do have a few issues with my unit though. It automatically shuts off after 15 while I'm drawing, my until gets really hot sometimes and I can only get cook 2 ovens before my battery light starts to flash. Do y'all think I need to send it back? Should I contact gotvape or goboof?

It shuts off for me too even though it says "shuts off 10min after last detected puff" I guess it's not detecting our puffs...

2 ovens would be OK if they were really long sessions, also holding the unit at the bottom to keep it cool should be kinder to the lithium battery long-term.

I got the alfa, and I definitely had some fun playing with this unit.

This thing built super well, the box is designed well (definitely targeted at the extreme sports guys; skateboarding, snowboarding, parkour etc.)

This thing is like an upgraded FlowerMate V5.0s to some extent.

Same type of shape, but smaller.
Same type of simplicity, but even more simply due to the dial.
It it way easier to inhale than the FlowerMate V5.0s

Upsides - So EASY to use
- Small little guy, looks really well built
- Works really well, great vapor production
- Very small resistance for inhaling

Downsides - Small Battery, I could see a powerbank being very useful, along with a car charger.
- On the third setting (highest setting), I could see some people with sensitive lips feel the heat. So the units can get uncomfortable hot for some. (maybe if they get a longer mouthpiece?)
- Cleaning could possibly be an issue, I haven't use it so much that I needed to clean it yet.

Overall for $199.99 i think it is worth the value!

Here are some photos I took of my unit, and also compared its size to other devices.

Where has everyone gotten their Alfa from? Is the only place (for US delivery) gotvape?
They are sold out on their own site. I wonder if that means they are waiting on a new batch... Which may be an improvement on the initial batch.
I don't really trust gotvape per many FCers, but I really want to try this little guy out.
What do you guys think...wait it out till the next batch gets to Alfa or just break down and use gotvape?
I used them, and all went well, although they said they were shipping 2 day air, and they sent ground instead, which took 5 days.

Yeah your right. Ha. I'm just still feeling this thing out. I just loaded a bowl didn't pack at all and got my biggest clouds yet.
I'm really enjoying the Alfa. I've had many vapes but have gotten rid of most. MFLB,firewood, wiser, solo, davinci ascent, and the firefly which I found tedious and cumbersome. The only one I have kept is the pax and now the Alfa. This little thing is awesome. So it's in my rotation. I like the fact it has a small bowl which is perfect for a solo artist like me. The size makes it easy to hide.

...And let's spark a new flame!
@Jill NYC I ordered mine from Gotvape mainly because Goboof retweeted one of their tweets which stated they had in stock.

Experience has been pretty good so far.

Correction: Goboof retweeted a tweet from Smell The Truth which mentioned Gotvape has them for sale.

I have been following the arizer air vape posts and although it looks like the quality is there, it's just not stealthy enough for me. But I'm really impressed by their fan base and I hope the alfa fan base grows like that. I love all of the diy ideas and tips. The alfa really deserves to be in that class and should grow to arizer or pax status.

josemembreno,
Really got a chance to use mine this weekend. Bought a metal hole punching tool from the jewelry department at Michael's for $12. Placed screen in oven. Set to AP and it's been fantastic. Gotvape was good too. Probably makes my MFLB and cheap metal cigarette combuster obsolete. 2 Paxers tried to convince me to go that route but I'm very happy with my choice which usually isn't the case.

Looking at the charger, it says 5V 1200mA, that means you could actually buy a plug from radioshack (just bring the charger in and have them match the connector) and wire it to a USB cable.

Then you just need a USB supply that can put out 1.2A (which is the 1200mA the Alpha needs)

the user manual doesn't mention it
Actually, it does. I wrote to them and got a complete manual (send them an email, and they'll send you a PDF).

It says " The Vaporizer will shut down if no puff is detected within any given 10 minute period regardless of program function selected".

yeah, i've got the user manual too, but he said "besides puff detection" by which I think he meant some fixed auto shutoff like the solo that power itself off every 12 minutes.

I think the line "regardless of program function selected" would mean an auto shutdown on any of the temps if no puff is detected, not just in the a/p program.

How do y'all like low? I've been staying on low until auto shutoff then turning it to medium. My session on one tightly packed bowl is close to 30 minutes

thotfukr,
So... I'm really fucking angry. I went into the gym my alfa was in my car came out of the gym turn it on it started blinking green normally, then out of nowhere started rapidly blinking red. Now it won't turn on at all. I put it on the charger and nothing.
I've been watching this forum for quite a while now, and finally went ahead and ordered my Alfa. Got it last Friday, and charged it up right away. When it was all charged up, I packed the bowl and turned it onto medium. The green light blinked for a while, then started blonking red. Now the unit is completely dead. I never even got to use it once. For others who have had to exchange a unit, do you deal with the company that shipped it to you, or directly with Goboof? Pretty bummed....
