Hate the taste, smell and even thought of combustion. Anyone else?

I have smoked bowls, bongs, blunts and joints for over 10 years and loved loved & enjoyed the taste of greens. But after just one day of smoking out of a Flowermate Vaporizer, I suddenly hated the taste, smell and even thought of combustion. It was almost like I tasted the chemicals in the lighter along with all the nastiness of the combustion of the herbs. The smell and the taste of herbs combusted even amazing smelling greens has now become a burnt almost charred horrible taste along with all the nasty stuff and taste from the lighter. I will never smoke anything but a vaporizer again. Even if I wanted to smoke anything else, I cannot get that nasty horrible burnt combustion taste or smell out of my head or mouth. Has anyone else experienced this? I mean after just one day of vaporizing, is it crazy to think this way? My friend says I am stupid and it is all in my head but I honestly don't care because why wouldn't I want to smoke the healthiest way possible, am I wrong? Again has anyone else felt like this after just one day?

I kind of miss the smell. And the clouds lazing about in the summer sun. And the ritual of rolling. And the primal connection of fire, earth, and water. Its not the same with vaping. Feels more high tech. But the taste....yuck, this factor alone will keep me away.

Welcome to the site!

Damn, after one day??? Sounds like you were BORN TO VAPE!

I too was a combuster for 10 years. I had a shitty knockoff box whip vape (Vapebros style) I bought out of curiosity from my LHS about 5 years ago, but that thing never convinced me vaporizing was worth it (I was a newbie, no other vaporists around to explain or teach me)

Then I bought a Davinci Ascent - oooo my god, the taste. Still one of the best tasting vaporizers I own, but none the less. I spent a week sipping away on that thing, just in love with the pure aromatic perfume flavor I was tasting in the 330F to 340F range!

Then one day when the battery was dead I decided to join my wife's outside for a smoke with my classic heady combustion bubbler......... :uhoh: :puke: I had a moment just like yours. The taste of combustion is hideous. I'm really embarrassed to say it around my friends who still combust, but I really can't stand it anymore.

Funny your timing for this post - I bought my friend a glass bubbler last week for his birthday - he used it to combust THREE times since then. Tonight he brought it over for a vape session, I couldn't use it - the combustion taste in his glass ruined the entire session for me!

The health benfits of vaporizing are simply an added bonus for me, the pleasure of taking MASSIVE flavorful rips from my heavy hitting Log vaporizer (e-nano) takes me to a medicated level I never thought possible

Thanks for the reply. I love using my vaporizer but I still feel like I want a little bit more vapor (Big Hit) feeling. What did you mention that gave you nice big hits? I am looking for the best vape with the biggest vapor clouds.

Yeah, many of us love to cloud chase - though it's not necessary by any means. I use a log style vaporizer called the E-Nano for my desktop, and for hard hitting portable, I use my Lotus vaporizer - both of those could produce some extremely dense vapor, but they're not the only ones.

There are MANY different vaporizers which can produce dense vapor - there have been countless "What's the best vape for me" posts in the Ask FC (and the ABV) sections - I suggest you read through those for some recommendations (or simply sort the plugin or portable section by thread count, you'll quickly see what are the most popular vapes)

Good luck on your search!

IME So far the densest vapor producers without any chance of combustion are the Sublimator XLR 2.0 and the Mighty. Between the two of them, I can't go back to smoking. Mine was one of the most stubborn combusting habits out there!

The Nano is a good unit to get some of the best clouds possible without spending a fortune on a Sublimator, and tastes great. I would heartily recommend it to anyone!

Not only do I hate it but I would not allow anyone to combust in my home. I have embraced my inner-hypocrite and I don't care. I would like to think that I will never combust again.
Definitely never combusting again. If I can't vape, I'll pass, but I take care of myself. Since becoming a medical patient I think like 4 or 5 years ago I have pretty much vaped every day to try and keep my Psoriatic Arthritis, pain, blood pressure, and nausea/appetite under control. Once at a relatives house I was talked into hitting a pipe. It tasted like licking a wet ashtray. I immediately wanted to vomit. Never again.

Pipes seem so disgusting anymore

I miss the act of rolling jays, but that is ALL.

I tried to take a hit of a jay for argument around six months ago and it was DISGUSTING!

That is the only time I have combusted since they day I got a vape.

Now I'm rather sober than combusting.

I am a fairly new vaper around a couple of months and i love it. I vape like 85% of the time but i don't think i will ever give up the bongs/joints but the smell of my bong the morning after if i don't clean it knocks me sick enough to put me off using it a little haha. I am from the uk and used to smoke spliffs with tobacco now i just twist up the green only coz usually me and a friend will put halv a j in the grinder each and share one and when i am on my own i vape. I use the pipe ocassionally if i am out and about without the solo!!

Love the forum by the way

I was a smoker for over 20 years and when I got my first vape 6 months ago everything changed. Within a few days combusting became absolutely disgusting and I have no desire to go back.
The only times it is a problem is when out of town for extended periods... I went camping for a week and the batteries on the potable vape didn't last past the first afternoon, so had to use a bong. Nasty taste and the foul stink of bong water. Urrrk.
Next time I'll be sure to invest in a vape that doesn't rely on a power socket.

4 years straight combusting....2 of them with a Extreme Q in my possession (crazy).....finally started using the EQ more and more and ive been stricly vaping for a few months and I dont want to combust anymore...dropped a bunch of money on cool vape equipment and thats gunna be the end of burning weed for me...

The biggest problem with this pressure from friends....u sound like an asshole when u say..."i only vape i dont fuck with combustion" cuz it makes it look like u think ur better than them haha...

Ive turned all my friends onto vaping and getting handhelds so hopfully i dont have to ever even see a blunt again.

Second hardest thing....smoking at the bar...one hitters were perfect! (Now disgusting) There are a few vapes small enough to get away with bar vaping but i chose the Solo over the Pax...i think ill grab an Arizer Air soon so I can vape at the bar!

I will smoke a heavily over filtered bong hit if I am experiencing pain so bad that I am desperate to try anything to achieve a different type of relief.

I know I shouldn't, and since getting my E-Nano, I combust much less often. When I do, I do think it is pretty gross if that preserves my mostly good reputation in the community.

pretty much any time i smoke these days, i am reminded as to why i stopped. that gross after taste the way the smell lingers a lot more heavily. the burnt out feeling that follows. all those negatives and the alternative seems infinitely better.

my friends "don't wanna wait though" and say that vapor is "too harsh" and dry. That they would rather just smoke. i shit you not. dry i get. but harsh? compared to smoking? also tobacco smokers too though so i see why it's pointless to them still.

If one day was all it took, good for you. Now you just need to lose the 'smoking' term, and substitute 'vaping'. Hang around here awhile and you'll get up to speed on terminology in no time. My wife has been vaping as long as I have, but with no FC exposure she still refers to it as smoking.

When the power goes out you will be blackening a stem with a BIC.
Speak for yourself. Personally, even if I didn't have butane powered vapes as a backup, I'd just wait for the power to be restored.

The point is that you don't know whether other people go 10 minutes, 10 hours, or 10 days between vape sessions. Don't call someone's statement crazy when you're judging only by your own criteria.

HELL NO! The two portables I use most can be charged with 12 volts, that's a simple way to be prepared.
And on the second or third day?
I would have to be stuck at my house with no access to fuel for a few weeks, but that's when I'd break out the VG Coil and some hemp wick... everyone needs an "end of days" vape.

Fuck smoking! :puke:
